If it’s not an either-or situation like with KOTOR and SWTOR, I suppose it could be OK.  I really don’t like standard MMO style gameplay and grind, though. DDO used to be lots of fun, and still is up to level 10 or so, but then it becomes Just Another WoW Clone With Endless Grinding.

Well, I guess to be fair, I do have that OCD type personality that actually likes the grind. I grew up playing stuff like pokemon and enjoyed leatherworking in WoW. Two things that are all about the grind. I like grinding to the extent that I got every, single, solitary pokemon I caught (and believe me, I tried to catch them all to fill that infernal pokedex) to level 85, then decided to start all over again for some reason I can't even remember. It was great. ^_^ So, yeah, grinding is not an issue to me, whatsoever. What is an issue is making the game actually fun to play. The problem with MMOs is that they all want to do the same WoW thing. How about we leave that to WoW and do something else? That's TOR's main problem right there. Now, I only play that for the lore, it's just so WoW-ish.... I don't think I could stand playing an ME MMO if it was the same thing rehashed over and over again. So, while I don't mind grinding, I would mind if it was a WoW clone.

Thanks for linking those - she's such a fun lady and she's so nice to her fans.

Oh, and PMC65, I may not be able to force you to update your story, but what I can do is threaten to give the fine members of this thread more ammunition made of your personal kryptonite. You know - the small blue kind. Fair warning.

Oh, and to the person asking about it possibly being seen as negative for a male gamer to use an asari in multiplayer, it's not weird at all. Like I even have to bother typing this, but many guy gamers specifically choose female characters, so don't take any crap from anyone about it. Besides, if you want to play that particular class, you don't have a choice, so game mechanics trump avatar gender.

About the Thessia map on MP.
Can you really say it's Thessia? I mean I'm quite sure it's just another small arena like the others - you just get spawned in there like on any other map, you kill waves of enemies like on any other map and you get extracted out just like on any other map.
The scenery might be similar to the single player mission and the skybox could be filled with "asari buildings", but c'mon. At least I'm not that excited about the fact it's located on Thessia as it honestly brings nothing about Thessia to us.

I like it even if it isn't much, and it also indicates that there is still resistence to the Reapers on Thessia, and not just the locals resisting either, but N7 teams. That might mean singleplayer content later on!

Is it fair to say that before you even see what the map looks like though?

What more could they do with a multiplayer map, anyway, to make it more "Thessian"?

What did you guys/gals think when you first reunited with Liara on that Mars base, when she cooly executed those Cerberus grunts, did it take anyone of you guys/gals back alittle? For me it shocked me alittle but then I think of how she took on all the odds to retrieve Shep's body. Liara has certainly grown up alot since ME1:wub:

I was actually glad to see her handle those Cerberus thugs so easily and decisively. It finally showed what we already knew, that she can be a badass who can take care of herself if she needs to. Besides, those two pricks deserved far worse for daring to shoot at her .

If Grunt can run around wielding an Eviscerator then my Kroganguard has nothing to be ashamed of with his Wraith ;).
Besides, if you're perhaps thinking of the Claymore, that's not actually a krogan shotgun, that would be the Graal.

Yep, love my asari adept, the Justicar is pretty cool too but that Biotic bubble move is pretty ineffective would rather have singularity than it. The Asari vanguard is pretty strong and fast too, much better than the drell who goes down way too easily if you get a bit overconfident. The biotic dash love that move, avoiding danger with styleB)

You wouldn't really need singularity as you already have a biotic set up and detonator skills. Bubble is nice as it works through shields, use it against the occasional geth hunter, phantom or marauder that like to creep up on you. No reason for more than three points in it tho, guardians are no problem.
Asari vanguard; I would really like to play it but it's just not on par with a human/krogan vanguard. :(
Asari Justicar; The best tank in the game by math, able to take ~2500 damage before her shield breaking if you've chosen all the damage reduction skills. I like to roll with it if there's a detonator in the group, reave reave reave!

It is quite fair, yes. I can't believe it would be much different than the maps we have at the moment. Last DLC's maps were kind of small too.

Add NPC's to talk with, add a story to play through, add dialogue with Liara. Oh wait - that's the singleplayer DLC!
That was my point. Don't get all excited about "yay Thessia!" when it's just another arena to fight waves of cerberus.

Also Bioware seem to be pretty fond of reusing that graceful hip action of Liara, whenever she makes an entrance in regards to Shep she loves to swing those hips, not that I'm complaining:wub: Surprised Shep gets any work done when she's near lol!

I'm looking for long (preferably 100,000+ words) Shepard/Liara fanfics and so far I've only found the Dark Energy series and PMC65's stories. Are there any other ones you could recommend?

That it is. You could even make a case that I'm crazy for even handwriting it to begin with, but it does have its uses. The handwriting process is critical to my personal steps of organizing and editting what I want in the final product. Usually, I only edit stuff out in the typing process, but ever once in a while there is something that just doesn't work. At all, and I have to get rid of it because it's pretty bad. Which is what happened earlier.

Handwriting is also useful when I writing something like Harry Potter. I'm American, they aren't. In order for me to actually think about using British speech patterns as accurately as possible, I need to be consciously writing it out instead of typing since when I type, I don't think everything out as much. And I hate it when fanfic writers use "Mom" or "making out" and such for British characters. Their dialects are just as much a part of their character as anything else....

I did fix my problem though, so happy ending. My notebook is a tad worse for wear, but I think I can pretend it didn't happen once I turn the page and only deal with it once I get to the typing step.

There is Rising from the Ashes by Elizabeth Carter. It's a whopping 400k words long though. I liked it okay, but Shepard gets a little too asari for my tastes. Other than that, it's a pretty good fic.

I've bookmarked Rising from the Ashes, though I haven't started it yet nor read any other stories by the author. It seems to have a good deal of complimenting reviews, so that's a good sign.

Mine’s only ~42 k words thus far but I’ll pre-recommend it for when it reaches 100 k in…August maybe? (Second link in my signature).

I’m still missing some Liara fics from my big list (the first link), I take it you didn‘t find anything there? There’s also a post on the first or second page if you missed it, I think by moreeman, listing a few L/S fics that I probably don’t have all of.

Remember when we were all talking about what degree Shepard should adopt asari culture? I argued that she should retain her humanity because that it what characterizes Shepard while respecting Liara's culture. They should strive for a balance between the two, in my opinion. In that particular fic, there is no such balance, really and Shepard very nearly completely delves into asari culture with little input from her own.

That’s an interesting tidbit…I have found that it’s much easier to find places to edit in a chapter when I’ve published it – or more precisely, when it’s in the ‘final’ format. So what I’ve been doing is generating the HTML and then nabbing the page into Readability where I can read it as if it was published. My only theory is – aside from the actual visual final form – that it triggers some kind of a ‘second pair of eyes’ effect where I become a reader rather than a writer.

Another one that's not quite 100k words, but Holding On to Let Go and it's continuation Broken Bonds and Shattered Dreams do come close at roughly 80k combined. They are pretty dark though and it seems like there was supposed to be another story after them which never did get written. Still worth a read I think.

Are any of you up for a pure romance DLC? As in, a mission or two specific for your LI, and then dialogue and another romance scene (sex not required)? I personally would love it.

I would love that for Liara, however I am hypocratic enough that i would likely not enjoy one with any of the potential LIs but if it was a central mission that matched context to you LI, not necessarily big things just various small moments and/or a more intimate scene afterwards that would be great.

Though in general if there was just a "Romance DLC" that simply fixed and improved romance content and added more in the game just various small encounters and comment around the game then I would be all in for that Image IPB

That is Biotic Blue Baby Bomrbardment Brigade if I may Image IPB.

Unfortunately Moreeman is on holiday as far as I am aware and I am busy readin/writting fanfic, I barely have time to check the thread as it is Image IPB, so there will be no bombarding of PMC at the moment.

Since I don't play MP I don't really get anything out of it but the thought there there is actually being fought over Thessia rather than just allowing it to fall does raise my spirit and the hope that there might, no matter how small a chance, come a SP DLC concering it raises it even further Image IPB

I know what you mean. Handwriting is when I'm mostly "plot writing" however, I'm constantly thinking of places where there could be improvements made to the initial writing, or just where to get rid of something just after I write it. However, sometimes I just don't notice something simply because paper is not efficient to seeing your whole work spanned out in front of you. Sometimes, I have cases where I wrote something that contradicts what I wrote only pages prior. Once I get into Word, is where I spot those cases and after I type, that's when I get to be the "reader."

The upload screen at fanfic is also a place where I do that, and typically the last minute changes I make are there. It seems to work though. I usually only spot a handful of typos once I do a live preview. I did apparently miss a formatting mistake on Striking though. One line is separated from the rest of the paragragh. :pinched: I have no idea when that happened and how I missed it and I despise formatting errors most of all....

Yours is actually on my list of fics to be checked out at some point, even if it is pitifully short. ;)

From your list, I got LogicalPremise's Of Sheep And Battle Chicken. I remember checking it out, but abandoning it at some point. I might give it another chance, although I'm not sure how much of a Shep/Liara fic it is, since there's supposed to be some kind of Shep/Liara/Garrus triangle I guess. I also checked moreeman's post and I noticed tattoohero's (ladyvader?) fic A Family Vacation which is 180,000+ words and complete. I'll have to check that out.
