Wait... what? Can you post a link? She's been my romance from the beginning and I'm pretty sure the scene I saw had them kiss, but then the screen pulled away. I KNOW they kissed. But it also faded to white pretty quickly. You're saying its a longer scene if you just romanced her in ME3? Please, link.

I believe it might be the length of the kiss animations that causes it. There's actually two animations from what I can tell. The one we get where they get close to each other and Liara wraps her arm around Shep's waist and then a second one for new romances where they only kinda lean in and give a quick peck to each other. The second one is shorter and thus you see the quick kiss and pull away whereas I think with the first one we only see the build up before it fades away.

Here's the link of the new romance version, towards the end.

That's what I meant. At least for a new romance, there's no question about it: you see them kiss. For the continued romance, I know it's the animations, but they couldn't even be bothered to extend the scene to at least show us.

Do I feel mistreated as a Jackolyte? Yes of course I do.
But I was part of the fanbook, that BW has now. So I'm more confident that they read my letter and my feelings about the difference between Jack romance and Liara (content wise), as making stupid rants on the BSN.
Because that's honestly how I feel about Liara hate threads, they are stupid angry rants, aimed at the Liara fanbase to make them angry.

They are unproductive and if I were BW, I wouldn't take them seriously at all. I hope they read the Book and the Tribute. Because all of the fans in them, did something productive.

I don't feel like anyone is shoved in my face, because I understand why BW in a game of choices, NEEDS some canon.
I say it a thousand times to everyone who thinks that Liara is forced on them.
Roleplay a female xenophobic Colonist/Sole Survivor and you will understand that you can't have everything you want in Mass Effect. You are forced to flirt with Jacob, you are forced to have relationships with aliens, you are forced to be sad about Arrival and you are forced to work with Cerberus.
BW needs a little bit of canon, no matter if we like it or not. Okay I admit, there is no reason for the Jacob flirt. ^.^

The big negative about Liara is, that you don't have control about the friendship, but there is a reason for that. Shepard needs someone to talk to, and it has to work in EVERY scenario.
Why do you think that every Superhero has a Sidekick? Afte the dreams, the DEV want to give the player an option to talk about Shepards feelings. It's an option.
The only characters who can do that are Vega and Liara. And again, it has to work in every scenario.

I wasn't active in the community after Mass Effect 1, but I wouldn't be surprised if the fanbase even suggested, that besides VS and Wrex, Shepard should have the option to kill all the Squadmates in the new Mass Effect game. And that's what you get, if you give the option to kill everyone.

I don't blame anyone, I just hope BW learned, that killing off everyone, is not good thing at all. It creates more problems and most of the people make a perfect SM runs anyway. So what was the point?

Oh, lol! I thought he was referring to the 'gift' scene at the end. Hahaha... wow. Nevermind.

But that is interesting as well. And yes, my version, the version where you had romanced her throughout the series did indeed show a lead up with them holding eachother and then leaning in for a kiss. This is much quicker and less romantic, so I definitely like the full romance one better. Although at the end of this one, he does indeed kind of step back in and grab her, possibly implying that they kiss again.

PMC! I've not seen you in ages haha. Thanks!

I'm actually not fond of alcohol, so feel free to drink all of my shots from here on out. Consider it a "Thank You" present. ^_^

I've not seen Kilshrek in forever either, and he's one of two people on this thread that I added to my friends list. Wonder where he went...

So I just watched the new romance version of the actual romance scene with Liara and I'm confused... I thought there was an "I love you" in it, but there wasn't. Anyone who has done the new romance care to explain when the "I love you" is?

Lizardviking - While I don't normally read too much fan fic anyone who writes Shepard pre-Normandy (it doesn't matter if they are male/female) I'm always ready to read it! That is the canvas that I find the most fascinating myself. If you have something to read I'm game! : )

Should have worded it differently. I meant to say that I had an idea for a one-shot that had parts where it shows some of Shepard's childhood. Have not written it yes since A. I am writing something else and B. Not sure if it is a good concept.

They happen in the scene before Cronos station.

That was also interesting. I didn't even know the scene was different if you just began the romance in ME3. It was definitely awkward for the two of them, and I thought it was kind of funny but also sweet. Their romance just startin' out.

But I can't imagine not romancing Liara until ME3. No way. She's my gal from the beginning.

Then the one you watched probably had Shepard act like a douchebag and chose the dialogue responses where he doesn't say it.

Probably also a renegade.

I watched two versions with different dialogues and one of them picked all paragon lines in the scene. Does morality affect it though? (Because I don't know if the character was a renegade)

That's odd. I know that, at least for a paragon, the scene can play out one of two ways, depending on if you've stayed loyal to Liara throughout the series or not.

Either Liara confidently confesses love for Shepard, and Shepard reciprocates, or Shepard tells her first, and Liara is a bit taken aback and stumbles a bit.

I would love to see this! It sounds so sweet and innocent! Anyone have a link?

The full romance version was just lovely and I was so waiting for and wanting them to confess their love, so as soon as she said it I thought "Yes! Finally!". It was a beautiful scene coupled with "I Was Lost Without You", and I never wanted it to end. :crying:

To clarify: I'm talking about a new romance, you got that, right? Not a cheater. I'm confused. See, I recommended the ME3 Liara romance to a friend and I'm trying to find out how much content there is in it and how different it is since I realized I haven't actually tried the ME3 only romance.

I haven't seen it but I'm sure it's on youtube. Just from hearing it I can't help but think I'd vastly prefer the version I got - where Liara confesses first, confidently. It's a small change, yet at the same time, very significant and powerful for what it says in how Liara is feeling, and how she thinks of Shepard and their relationship.

I really like that if you've been faithful to her, she'll say it first, not Shepard - and it's not just a difference in her tone of voice. She's actually confident and free of doubts, whereas otherwise there are still some lingering doubts.

It's so satisfying and just...peaceful to get that scene between Liara/Shep, for a change.

Edit - I get what you're saying about not playing a cheater, but I didn't think when it came to the scene pre-Cronos station that there was a difference. I thought there were only two variations - either your Shep was faithful from ME1 onwards, or he wasn't. Even if not being was just because your Shep didn't PLAY ME1/ME2.

I'm fairly certain for a new Liara romance she never says I love you.

Oh I prefer it that way too, but my friend started playing in ME2 with the Genesis comic and didn't pick any romance, so I recommended waiting until ME3 and starting a romance with Liara.

This is the video I watched by the way

Yes, yes, yes! When she kissed him and then stared straight into his eyes followed by, "I love you, Shepard.", you just KNEW she meant it. And the same goes for him when he replied. It was such a wonderful moment, and a moment they deserved. I was so happy about that scene. I will say Bioware handled their romance scene beautifully. Though I wish it was longer...

There's three versions from what I can tell.

Faithful for three games.

Unfaithful at some point.

New romance.

So that means... no "I love you", no blue babies, and no couldn't do this without you in the new romance. Maybe it's not that great after all then. :pinched:
