Yes and no. The LotSB flag is bugged, I think for everybody. The only way to fix it is to check the “Toured Normandy” flag using Gibbed (i.e. PC or Xbox via modio, no PS3).

Ah, thanks. What issues does setting this flag solve and what conversations does it affect?

Guys, I'm sorry to veer off-topic, but is anyone into astrology? Western astrology to be specific. If so, does anyone have an idea as to whether or not Thessia has some kind of equivalent? And which sign do you think Liara would be for Earth's Western astrology? (Taurus, Capricorn, Pisces?) I'm looking at her personality and wondering which she would be best suited for. If no one has any idea, I guess I can go back to speculating on my own...

Sound like good alternatives to my current "keep-writing-until-your-brain-bursts" approach. Will try them out. Thanks.

Just realized I was at the top.

I would recommend against doing that. In my experience, forcing an issue gets bad results. It comes off as forced and frustrated. Your emotions will sink into your word choices and your choices to how plots go. If you're frustrated with a fic, in all likelihood, you may end up incorrectly characterizing someone, or taking out your frustrations on a character or even taking your fic in a direction you didn't plan for it to go. This has happened to me in some of my original work. Had to scrap a lot of it.

That's...interesting. I think she fits Pisces. Possibly on the cusp now that you've said this. This information has made my year.

^ Not to start another debate, but I think Meer is always kind of flat, albeit good at the shouty parts. A lot of people prefer his delivery, though.

We can't really know without a birthdate to be honest. Quick google search has some say Scorpio, strangely enough. :?

I think it affects the first scenes on the Normandy, and maybe the “flatterer” part? Not Mars, though. I always toggle it on so I don’t know for certain, sorry.

Astrology is one of those things I personally don’t understand :P Why would 1/12 of the world’s population share a significant number of traits with you just because of when they were born?

Scorpio...that's completely off the mark, lol. I'm inclined to agree with Aquarius because Liara's quirky, she's so very intelligent, but her social skills don't fit the bill. Her compassion and loving nature point me to Pisces. I know Shepard's official birthdate sets her as Aries. Aries does not go well with either Aquarius or Pisces, at least in my experiences.

Yuqi mentioned that the EU actors (French/Spanish/Italian?) were better in the romance scenes linked than Meer. I think.

Wouldn’t Thessians be completely different given that the constellations are vastly different from their perspective?

Or wouldn’t it be likely to be completely different, leastwise…

I've been thinking about these cycles that ME has brought to my attention. Namely what the VI on Thessia says. Each solar year is a cycle, and it's strange that I just so happened to be born while the Libra constellation was on the exact opposite side of the world and I possess so many traits that make me a Libra. If I'm going to make my fanfiction work, I have to believe what the lore has presented us with. So I'm adding this to another one of the cycles that occurs in our universe.

People have told me I go above and beyond with these kinds of things. I get why they may think that, but I'm satisfied with what I churn out.

So...what's Liara's sign? Posted Image

Except Shepard can be any astrological sign when you think about it, since anybody can play Shepard.

In any case, I find astrology to be rather off the mark. I mean, I'm a Cancer and I don't really follow the extremes in that sign. I don't really follow any sign. I'm just myself.

I keep forgetting that this game has been dubbed for certain markets. Does anyone have any clips of these other voice actors? Would be funny to hear what a French Liara would sound like, for example.

Heh, I'll just ask you a few questions instead. You should know the answer to them.

Do you consider yourself to be a social person?
Are you flirtatious by nature, even if you restrain your behavior? Life of the party kind of person?
Do you find yourself going into arguments with an impartial mind?
Are you adept at being able to see things from another's point of view?
Do lots of emotions make you uncomfortable, namely the melodramatic and irrational ones?

Also, I'm totally up for Thessian astrology being different than Earth's. I've considered this in an earlier post. But if it's even possible to say "Oh, Liara might be ___ sign," then it's possible the constellations are the same in each system, only with different representations. Chinese astrology, for example, uses different symbols, i.e. dog, ox, dragon, snake, etc., but there are Western equivalents. Libra = dog, Pisces = rabbit, and so forth. I know we're talking about a totally different system, but the number 12 repeating itself isn't so far-fetched.

Astrology actually depends on a whole variety of factors such as your moon sign, rising sign, decant, locations of the planets in each of your twelve houses, nodes, etc. Horoscopes in newspapers tend to be as vague as possible to fit the majority of people in the sign, and while you may be one sign according the dates, other astrological factors affect how you express yourself and your priorities in life. In short, newspaper astrology doesn't work. If you want a more accurate one, you'd have to give all those planetary details to someone who actually charts them and predict your future from them.

Well, I possess many traits of a Libra, but I’m not :P

Seriously, though, if you do want to work it in, I think you would make it more interesting by taking into account that Thessia is in a completely different place (as in, it takes light tens of thousands of years to get there from Sol). So the first thing I’d do is find a reasonably close place for it in the Milky Way map, and then extrapolate the relative position of the astrological constellations from that point of view and maybe look for something like even visual overlap of certain ones. So you could posit that rather than being affected by a single one like Terrans, the Thessians are affected by two or three, and they need not be the signs ‘next to’ eachother in our calendar.

Something like that might give you a nice angle?

Agreed, totally. I know a lot of people who don't follow the extremes of their signs. I'm one of them. There's always a general skeleton for each sign. How people deviate and return back to it is important, and what I'm trying to explore in my story.

1. No.
2. Not at all.
3. No.
4. That really depends on the subject.
5. Not really.

Yes I did delete it, because I couldn't word it right without it coming across as offensive.  The English V.A is inconsistant and somewhat lazy compared to the others. He does a good job with the Tali romance though and some of his Paragon lines are very good. The other English actor is a very good renegade, and does a good job with the Liara and Garus romances, but  not so good with the others. The Italian female Shepard is good with Liara and Thane, and jacob. French Female Shepard sounds like shes from an adult entertainment film...and it's off putting.

But different actors do certain things better. But Italian Mshepard is my 1# favorite with the Liara romance, with French Male Shepard coming second.

Yeah, I've considered this, actually. It's not an integral, super-important aspect of my fic, so I'm not going to go all-out or anything. It's a subtle symbolism that I can work with well because I'm comfortable with astrology, and it's a far-fetched cycle that a lot of people don't believe. Or the ones that do believe it are judged in various ways. It's the cycle that matters to me, really.

If no one can give me an argument against this, I'm going to go on thinking that Liara is on the cusp of Aquarius/Pisces. Totally makes my year, so I hope no one comes in with their superior knowledge of astrology and proves me wrong. Posted Image
