Indeed. Liara without Ali Hillis is not Liara. Her voice is a big part of what makes her special. It adds so much to her character, whether its shyness, a subtle but confident nature, a quiet reflective personality, and even lends much to how attractive she is. Liara's voice is wonderful. Too bad I can't find a woman with the same attributes.
Ali Hillis does great work in the series. I was initially a bit ambivalent towards her work, but I've really grown to love what she does with Liara. I think some of the voice actors have gotten better as the series has progressed, actually.

I literally can't listen to "I Was Lost Without You" too much, because A. It depresses me (no happy ending), B. It's just too damn beautiful (almost brings me to tears), and C. I don't want to ruin the 'specialyness' of the tune for future playthroughs.
But there's no denying... that song is amazing. And fit their romance perfectly.

Taking down the Shadow Broker with Liara was one of the most awesome things I've experienced in a game.
Not to mention the 'consoling' scene afterwards. Loved being able to comfort and hold her. She deserved it. I was so glad Shepard was finally back and there for her when she needed him. Such a sweet moment.
LotSB really was the best content in the entire trilogy. It's such a shame nothing in ME3 lives up to the standard that set, and that there's nothing at all in ME3 like being able to reconcile with Liara and actually console her and they embrace.
And yes, LOTSB is my favorite mission of the trilogy. Also the best DLC I've ever played for any game. Period.
That was definitely my favourite scene in the whole series.
Same here. If the game was done better; I would've never come on these forums. I would've never found all the forms of art fans create. I would've never thought about writing my own fanfic (tho I suck at it, it's so damn hard). I would've never got interested in 3D programs (tho I suck at that too, why is everything so hard). So I guess I should thank Bioware for that.Aristobulus500 wrote...
It just makes me really frustrated and angry, because there's just so much wasted potential. ME3 should've been so much more - LotSB should've just been a taste of what ME3 had to offer, not the best content in the series.
I guess this is a reason I'm so much more into fanworks - like Neeh's material, Rae's fanfics, other fanfics, than I ever was with the series before, because after ME2 and LotSB I was satisfied. I wanted more, sure, but I wasn't angry and frustrated - it was a "that was really cool and I'd like to see more of this setting". There weren't so many missed opportunities and things just done incredibly poorly, and there was so much hope and build up for ME3, that it was easy to let my mind run about all the incredible things that could happen in ME3.
Especially with Liara/Shep - the way LotSB ends there's so much potential there, that you come off that and you're like "holy **** Liara is the ****ing Shadow Broker and has so much power and an entire base and Shep/Liara finally got back together and things aren't so dark!" and you're just so pumped to where it all leads.
And...ME3 does nothing with all that build up. Same for Thessia, especially. The Asari get so much build up throughout the entire trilogy and then they don't even get an arc to their own or even a decision for Shepard to make! Or even anything that ties into a Shep/Liara romance!
Arrgggh!
edit - honestly I feel much the same kind of frustration, in regards to Liara now, as I did after ME2 and before LotSB came out. I was so pissed and frustrated at her poor showing and how awful her encounter in Illium was. LotSB fixed so much and oh my god we desperately need another LotSB for ME3.
But yeah... So much wasted potential. It's still a huge mystery to me how on earth can they be proud of it, especially the ending.
EA, Bioware, if you're reading this; I'd be happy to throw a hundred dollars or more at you for a "Mass Effect 3: Revisited Edition".
In perpective; If they "fix" or add stuff in the future DLC's the total cost could very well be over a hundred.

I’ve always assumed that the ear canal is pretty much where it is on humans. You can see the ridging there. Let’s see if I can find a picture…
Edit: here’s a not-great one, but see the corner of the jaw and where the crest starts:

Indeed, since they lack the ear itself that help redirect the sound they might have less acute hearing but their "ears" could always be more sensitive to compensate for this.Aristobulus500 wrote...
I think that for Asari, their "ears" are likely similar to how it is on a lizard or snake. I mean, in that picture above, you can see the opening, same as you can on a reptile.

By the way, the new Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition trailer is very nice in a way that if Mass Effect 3 was like that, it would be totally awesome. Whole scenes and environments changing based on your decisions.
When he says that there's "16 different endings all based on your choices" ; it reminded me about the "16 different endings" in ME3. I wish there was an Enhanced Edition for other games too. It's even free. Got to respect CD Projekt RED. Still haven't played that game, but maybe some day.

I think the entire soundtrack of ME3 is amazing. Seeing this quality and then the rest of the game makes me sad...but at least i can listen to the soundtrack and enjoy that.
Absolute favorite though is "The fleets arrive". That one is just an amazing track....coupled with the actual cut scene. Wow! I simply loved when the Destiny Acension (if you saved it) comes out of the relay....
I even love "An end once and for all". The corresponding scene in the game....bleh! Don't care to think about it too much but the music track is just fantastic.
"I'm lost without you" is a close third....and I just pretend it is a Liara-only song

That's actually pretty interesting. I'm not sure how that would be feasible, considering Snakes hear largely via vibrations taken in through their jaws IIRC, though they also hear through vibrations in their skull and the rest of their body too...perhaps that's what their cartilage crests are for, to help them hear?Aristobulus500 wrote...

Samara's story is tremendously sad, as are the stories of the Ardat Yakshi. That she has three AY children....it's just so tragic. And poor Rila, Mirala and Falere....

Sadly, I never did get around to playing Witcher 2, even though I pre-ordered it from gog.com. The part about certain parts of the game being (un)available depending on your actions seems especially interesting, I wish there was more of that in games in general. It would certainly fit splendidly in ME3, with things like the Rachni subplot. Mah... chuck it in with all the other missed opportunities. And Witcher 2 will have to wait for me a while longer, I haven't had the will to play anything non-ME since ME3.

Yeah that's how snakes work, but I said similar to reptiles, not exactly like reptiles. I'm thinking a mix of their internal hearing and a humans, since they do seem to be able to, you know, hear actual sounds.

I agree here, that ending really crushed my spirit and it's only through the forums, fan created fiction, art and videos of the loyal and dedicated fanbase who have poured so much love and effort into their works that has helped ease the pain and subdue the rage and disappointment that I felt after completing what could have been the most defining game of my generation.
On the subject of fanfiction I remember recently reading a few pieces that had Liara and Shep settling down to raise a family, but these authors had Liara giving up her ShadowBroker post for good and handing the reins over to Feron. My question is could you see Liara doing that or do you think she would share the load with Feron more instead of giving up completly?
