Well they did not exactly come across as friends in Redemption, if as far as your trust that comic.

Nah, that was sarcasm. I want to see them making snipes at each other, really. I think it would be rather funny,

I'm hoping there's some kind of interaction between Liara/Aria in an Aria DLC - and I'm hoping Aria would make more snide comments or something, more to play off of, if you're romancing Liara and further if you take her with you.

Don't really see Aria and Liara as being friends though, rivals at best.

frudi - I didn't include Zaeed or Kasumi or Prothy only because I wasn't really focusing on new character DLC's ... but I did forget the Firewalker.

All we can do is wait and see what they have, but I'm betting that for every DLC you will have 5+ Multi-player items. Oh, well.

I'm still hoping for Aria - Take back Omega.

I agree, all we can do is wait and hope for the best, hope they learned something from how the fans loved LotSB. I'm sure we are all concerned about the quality of DLCs we will eventually get... I guess my main point was that you shouldn't be discouraged about SP DLCs just because MP ones are/will be more common.

I also think a Retake Omega DLC is pretty much a guarantee, they've made too much of a point about that story arc (in-game and in comics) to just drop it unresolved. But that's exactly the kind of DLC that I doubt I'll have the stomach to play if EC is a let-down. It would just seem kind of pointless, retaking Omega just to eventually have it cut off from the rest of the galaxy. As much as she hates it, Aria's better of staying on the Citadel and riding its wreckage down to Earth.

Oh yeah, I can just imagine them getting along so splendidly. I actually like it when Liara gets all bitc-, I mean annoyed and disapproving . There's potential for great hilariousness there. I guess that could make me get the DLC even if the ending remains fubar-ed.

Ah, I don't see why Liara shouldn't be able to be with a Renegade. I played Paragon and mainly Renegade (80-90%) and things inbetween and I thought it fit either way.

Moreover, it is highly depending on your squad selection in what way Liara reacts and comments....man, did my jaw fall to the floor when she urged me to sacrifice the Council and headshot Saren to make sure he's dead in ME1. And all of that simply because I had Kaidan in my squad and not Garrus as in the run before.  That was a surprise.

One of the things I don't really like about ME1. That doesn't really fit Liara's character at all. At least, not at that point in the series. I think that rather than having either Liara or Kaidan be for the Council's destruction but rather one of them should have been for the neutral option of simply focusing on Sovreign. Then, instead of having one of them shoot Saren in the face, they could have had Kaidan check his lifesigns. I mean, for God's sake, the man is specced towards a healer role in game. It would have been a billion times for believable for them to do that rather than have a ridiculous Paragon/Renegade scale to determine which character would do those scripted events. For some, they don't fit them at all.

So much this, I agree completely. How I hated that cutscene mechanic in ME1, precisely because it could caused characters to behave so ridiculously unlike themselves.

edit: bah, double post, was hoping someone would have posted something in between my posts. So, here's some ME1 Liara:

I had Wrex and Liara with me when I confronted Saren, she didn't say those, Wrex did. She said "we must destroy Sovereign", Wrex said "and that's why we must save our forces to destroy it"

Yeah I can understand that, a millitary person would need some sort of code. Honestly a mostly paragon shepard dosn't come across as millitary to me.

Officers in an all volunteer army come from pretty diverse backgrounds you've got those who came from a military academy, those who wrote direct entry tests after university and those who went to a university as part of an ROTC program and have to serve so many years in return. You've got good officers and bad ones, agressive ones and very defensive ones.

Paragon Shep reminds me of those very upstanding defensively minded officers, they don't take big risks with their troops and prefer to probe looking for the easy way through an enemy position. Basically just very moral, upstanding and somewhat insufferable to be around. ;)

I think their personalities are far too different for the two of them to ever be close.

I think realistically they could have a relationship that ranges from anything between hostile to 'just business' to frenemies, but I can't see them as being the closest of friends.

Paragon = Dwight D. Eisenhower or Chester Nimitz

Renegade = George S. Patton or Douglas MacArthur

Just been reading a few fanfic pieces recently and have come across some interesting one's in regards to Specialist Samantha Traynor and Liara vying for the Commander's attention. Acknowledging Samantha's obvious crush on femshep one author pictured Liara getting a little paranoid about Samantha's desire to be close by to Shep. Below is a summary of said fan-fiction.

Although Shepard was preoccupied with data reports coming in and organising the troops she recently acquired to notice Samantha encroaching her personal space, subtly touching her arm and smiling uncontrollably whenever Shep paid her a work related compliment Liara noticed and was silently fuming that other's weren't aware that Shepard and her were exclusive.:pinched:Confiding in EDI about her relationship issue, EDI pointed out that it's only naturally for others to take an active interest in Shepard as many have never witnessed them together in public as a couple.

Liara knew that excessive PDA in the workplace would be inappropriate and unprofessional so she decided to catch Shepard off guard, sneaking into her quarters and reminding Shepard of what she has at home.:D This meld was purposely more intense, it gave Shepard a biotic lovebite of sorts so when Traynor tried to place a wandering hand on Shep the next day it gave her a little jolt which forced Shepard to tell Traynor that her and Liara are exclusive.^_^ If I find the link I'll post it.

Anyway could any of you guys/gals see Liara resorting to such tactics or do you think she would be secure enough in Shepard's commitment to her to not get worried about any young pretty little thing that makes googly eyes at Shepard? Seeing Liara react like this is how my Shep felt when rescuing Feron, my Shep was a little bit paranoid but I love the fact that Liara reassured Shep that she only has eyes for her. I would have loved to have been able to reassure Liara if she had any lingering doubts in her mind about Shepard's commitment to her.

After numerous playthroughs I have really grown quite fond of Samantha and I could see a few similarities in her personality that match to Liara's and I believe these two would get on quite well regardless.:) Samantha and my canon Shep have alot in common both being colony kids and I can't deny that my femshep has looked but would never act on her impulse, she loves Liara. If my Shep wasn't involved I would pursue her in a heartbeat but alas I can't for the love of me create a femshep renegade or paragon and not romance Liara, it's just too damn hard.:P

Yes i meant background the way you interpreted it. Character traits would be things like being heroic and driven to excel, - basically any immutable cornerstone of the general character.

I’m not sure I’d characterize a pure renegade Shepard as ‘heroic’.

By the by, if you think Shepard has to conform to some archetype, take the few minutes to read the prologue and the first chapter of “The Beautiful Indifferent”.

I’m almost certain Aria is said to be closing on 1000. Could be older than Aethyta, in fact…but only barely, because Thee’s parents’ timelines get ridiculous otherwise given the codex: “Asari have a robust cellular regenerative system. While they do not heal faster than other species, asari are known to reach 1000 years of age.”

Of course true to their style, BioWare introduced that one Commando who had fought in the Rebellions which ended, at the latest, by 800 CE, making her almost certainly over 1400…

Were you on a no-fic-reading-hiatus-slash-writing-spree? I’ve planned out Aria’s storyline a bit for Unity… Aria isn’t Liara’s half-sister, though.

Aria had a maiden daughter so it would not match her being 1000 + ... if you follow that matriarch do not have children. Bioware is not really good at timelines, etc. So I'm holding she is around 700 years which could make her Liara's sister giving Aeytha's supposed age. Of course, Bioware can change all of that shortly.

Edit - Mass Effect Retribution follows shortly after ME2

But Liselle was still young; it would be decades - or even maybe centuries - before she passed from the maiden stage of the asari life cycle into the childbearing years of matronhood.

Of course we know how Bioware even forgets what they created so its fair game. With an old man telling a kid these stories who knows how accurate they really are. Image IPB

I can see them having a relationship based on mutual cooperation.

As Shadowbroker Liara's 'business' contacts aren't always going to be on the up-and-up. In fact more often than not her business contacts and sources of information are probably not the most reputable people. In order to catch a rat, you have to crawl in the gutter.

True, but they both have fairly strong personalities. It may be that the "Queen of Omega" isn't happy with listening to the Shadow Broker. Aria might try to make their meeting into a bit of a dick measuring contest. Liara may or may not rise to the bait, however.

Judging from how Liara reacts when Tali tries to start a catfight with her, I like the idea that Liara wouldn't play into those games, she's too mature for that.

Incidentally, that's the same reason I don't like the fanfic that got mentioned earlier up, where Liara gets jealous of Traynor - I feel that kind of childish spiteful behavior is beneath her.

After re-reading the Invasion graphic novel they can't leave us hanging like that so I'd imagine an Aria dlc will be released in the coming months. I think Aria would be indifferent to Liara, remember how she treated Shepard when they first meet in Afterlife, 'your death was downplayed, but Omega doesn't really care about you'.  So if she treated Shep like something she just scraped off the bottom of her shoe Liara certainly won't recieve any other kind of special treatment.:devil:Man I  f*uckin' love that deliciously arrogant, devious b*tch, my second favourite Asari in the series no doubt, she's just brilliant^_^
I could imagine seeing her referring to Liara as Shepard's pet, just to get a reaction out of her, ha that kind of back and forth heated exchange would be hilarious:D I have a name it's Liara T'Soni and I'd appreciate you using it from now on!;)

Out of all the potential LIs I think Liara is the least  jealous if Shepard romances someone else. She has a couple snarky lines but overall she seems to understand that it had been 2 years and that she brushed him off on their reunion, and that she hadn't been around. She handles it far more maturely and with less insecurity than most people in the real world would.

I wonder if that is an Asari trait, or something unique to Liara.

She really does, and it's just another reason that Liara is my favorite character.
