Gah, my artistic integrity!!! No but thanks :) it is far too gray and dark, my laptop's screen has silly backlighting that makes everything lighter for me. I've touched it up and made it lighter and more blue :o

You can interpret ‘family’ strictly. In 2170, humanity had had access to space for only 20 years. It’s extremely unlikely that Shepard’s entire family, even grandparents, would have been on Mindoir.

Yea pretty much this. The only Shepard I could see not having very much family would the the Earthborn Shepard mainly because unless society changed alot Shepard would have been put with the closest family member if Shepards parents were killed/died. I like the way that PMC did the Mindoir Sheps background with only Shepards parents getting killed and the rest of the family is on Earth.

I do like both of the pictures on this page. The one with Liara in her birthday suit was a little off but I put that to the way the lighting was, it didn't really bother me all that much.

OT: Woot!!! Finally finished my NG+ of my new Femshep in ME1, now on to ME2!!!! I really don't mind playing ME1 I just wish there was a way to get to level 60 in one playthrough.

I never really got the pureblood stigma. To me it seems strange asari would even fancy turians or salarians etc. I mean humans and asari look alike, so that kind of makes sense. I know Shep can romance Garrus, Thane or Tali but I doubt many of their fans would actually go there IRL, where as who could say no to an asari?

There was one thing that made the pureblood stigma kind of make sense to me though. The planet Tevura is named after the asari goddess of sex, love, travel and law. In the planets description it explains that these things go together because asari tend to travel to find a partner (to avoid mating with a relative). So I suppose asari just have a natural instinct to want to travel to find a partner and when they met other species that was just the next step (kind of a big step if you ask me though).

Something about this...I don't know. Liara looks too...incomplete? Undetailed? Like, she looks like one of those untextured models or something. The grayness is part of that, but her face, too.

Seems probable the asari simply become attracted to species that look less similar to themselves. Javik mentions they mated with other species early in their history, so they probably evolved with the ability to be attracted by individuals that look different from their own species.

I've gotten to lvl 57 in one playthrough once.... But yeah there's no way to get to lvl 60 in one playthrough.

@Tyranniac, regards your fanfic, beginning of chap 1 (Shep felt her power ebbed away), what power was being referred to? I don't quite understand. Biotic power?

Gestation Period by Species (Earth)

The only planet we know about, obviously, but on the whole size/complexity of species is the determining factor.

That period for Kangaroo's seems awfully short but if you count gestation as the internal growth period  rather than pouch time, then it's just Australian wildlife being its usual freakish self. That continent is just WEIRD. :innocent:

Also, shouldn't Shepard be in the picture, since you know, it's supposed to be an intimate mind meld?

Yeah I thought it was odd when Javik said protheans found quarians attractive. There aren't many instances of non-asari having relationships with aliens. There's the quarian/turian thing in fleet and flotilla and mordin talking about getting interest from aliens but I got the impression it was mostly seen as odd.

I suppose Mass Effect does have the whole "galactic community" thing going on so people would be used to seeing different species. Well except for Shepard who apparently didn't know anything about other species. If asari from Thessia knew as little about aliens as Shepard did I'm sure they'd find some of the differences pretty jarring.

Uhm, no, my Shepard is a soldier. I should probably change that word to energy, it is meant to refer to her strength and conciousness in general.

she's.. awaiting you? Technically her right hand is held out to you just under the camera, she's leading you into the crazy 'gift' light. Also this lets you put your shep in that place :D saving me from a gender / general Shep war.

I'm trying to write a fanfic about my spacer/war hero Shep before ME1 but it's really hard and quite boring. I can't imagine how Shep's parents could raise little Shep on ship/station with their works. Kindergarten on ship?
I end up drawing a fanart. Will finish it next week. Hope it will turn out ok.

Believe it or not, if you talk with Ashley a lot in ME1, she gets over it.  There was no retconning at all.  Or are you objecting to this because you see nothing but the xenophobia and that you find it objectionable that she has actually moved on from that?   Because I saw nothing of the sort going on in ME3.

Except she doesn't get over it. "I have my share of problems with aliens" or something of that sort. You can talk her down from it in ME1 but it doesn't stick, just like paragon'ing Garrus doesn't really stick, and Renegad'ing Kaidan doesn't stick either. All of them go back to their normal ways, and for Ashley that's xenophobia.

I really think you're just desperately trying to pretend she's not the space racist she is, because you otherwise like her and you don't want to admit to yourself that you can like a racist character.

In ME2, Ashley says she's not a fan of aliens, but she still wouldn't join up with Cerberus. It's proving she's not that extreme to join a group, who would trample all over innocents/aliens if it meant humanity progressing.

And how did Ashley go back to her old ways? Was she Xenophobic in ME3? Because I didn't see it. I think you see more than enough proof that she does trust the alien crew members, and even cares about them as well, like Liara and Tali.

She's grown up.

Ashley was the one who bucked up the balls and went to comfort Liara after Thessia. She's never 'hated' Liara, jealous perhaps. And she's never been good at showing/talking about her feelings, but she does care. Even in ME1, she was still instructing Shepard to go check on Liara, she must be hurting ect.

I get that that's what you want to do, I'm saying without some tweaking of her posing and especially her face to make it look more alive and like it has some expressions, it doesn't look like that.

Like, I think that you're trying to do something similar to this

NWS
http://i.imgur.com/zMe6d.jpg

But compare the two - in this one Liara actually appears to be looking at you and gesturing. In yours...she's kinda looking over to the side, and you can't see her arm/hand to see her motioning to you.

edit -

Also this just got posted a few days ago.

Somehow I've missed this entire series.

Good points but if we go along with ingame established canon, Shepard is an orphan in Earthborn, fending for him/herself, no family to speak of and Mindoir your immediate family were slaughtered in that Batrian pirate raid so who knows if Shep has any other family waiting for him/her at earth? And after the Reaper War if Shepard had any family left that he/she was unaware of I would hazard to specualte that they could of died in the war. Or maybe not and wouldn't it be interesting if Shepard had some unknown relative who only wanted to get in touch with Shepard again because of his/her celebrity status. I could see something like that happening:whistle:

Just wanted to say I agree with the whole Mindoir sheps extended family thing, I liked what PMC did and I have yet to decide how I'm gonna handle my sheps extended family. I guess I need to start brainstorming that :P

I'd imagine it would be similar to having the traditional military brat upbringing. Constantly getting posted as your parents are promoted, being lugged here there and everywhere when they go on course.
It can be hard to attach yourself to anywhere, or anybody, aside from your family, and even then...at least when I was growing up, I kind of resented my dad a little because he was always getting posted. Each time I managed to make new friends or got accustomed to somewhere, I'd be heading off to somewhere else. And when I wasn't being moved across the country, I'd never see him because he'd be on a course somewhere, or overseas on a mission.

I'm not sure how you'd make that upbringing less boring in the same way I'm not sure how to make any origin not boring, since I don't know your Shep and his/her personality or character traits.
I'd imagine being on numerous ships, post-contact would lead to hearing a lot of war stories and a lot of really crazy stories about other species that could fuel Shepard's curiosity?
I mean, it's your Shep. His/Her upbringing doesn't need to be traumatic or tragic or super exciting. It is what it is.
