The only thing I really dislike about this one is that you can't see her beautiful eyes, which I think is a real shame. Or can't see them in their vivid blue splendour at least, I am not sure wether her eyes are completly hidden in shadow or if they are currently eternity black.

Her eyes is really what makes most of her pictures for me, don't get me wrong I really love all her features but those amazing sapphire orbs are just the epitome of her physical beauty for me.

Sarcastic Tasha - Asari do not look exactly like us ... none of the aliens do. They are just closer in appearance but physically there are differences.

As for Traynor's accent ... geordie in its posh place? *thinks of Cheryl Cole* okay! Although, to be honest .. I really can't tell a difference between UK accents. But if I can switch her accent I'd make her Irish from Dundalk. Sweet!

EDIT: That rule only applies to non-baby pictures, apparently Posted Image

There's no Geordie in Sam Traynor's accent, 100% southern. As for Cheryl Cole, bleh. Can't stand the vapidity of celebrity culture and frankly anyone who assaults a black member of staff at a nightclub, while screeching "don't you know who I am?" then goes on to marry a footballer, beyond redemption imo.

I agree - her eyes are one of her most amazing physical features, but I just love the pose here. Without trying, Liara's come off really, really enticing - at least for me. She's beautiful, but not stuck up about it in the least - as shown in pictures like this one. Unfortunately, I can't find a larger version of it right now.

Just did MP. Map of Thessia is small, basically just perhaps a little more of what is seen in SP. Everything's just Asari type doors and the rest are just stuff seen in SP; consoles, etc. And yeah, destroyed stuff; floor whatever.

I think they did well with Firebase Goddess - there's a distinct asari influence on the design, and I liked the room with the water inside. The whole layout is very interesting to move around in, and allows for smooth flow and gameplay. I think it's the most aesthetically pleasing map from the multi-player ones.

Something I would have done differently was the destroyed stuff you mentioned - I'd rather have the place undamaged and in full glory, though it is understandable that it isn't, given the lore. My geth did put a few new holes in it, though, in an attempt to kill teleporting banshees.

I like the map too.

It's a war zone...I guess some destroyed buildings are inevitable. But the whole area seems to be less damaged than the city in the single player campaign (I don't know if this is intended or not).

I just got around to reading Redemption (Thanks PMC), and apparently it is never explained how Liara went about becoming an information broker in that either. We know why she became one, but as far as I know it is never explained *how* she went about becoming an information broker. How did an introverted archaeologist end up with her own private spy network?

Anyone else think Benezia might be the link?

Prior to ME3 Benezia was just described as a revered matriarch and a teacher of theology and philosophy. But even then it felt like we weren't getting the full story. Why would a teacher of theology and philosophy on Thessia have known Saren, and why would she take it upon herself to try and talk him down? Considering that she had crossed paths with a Spectre in the past, and the reveal in ME3 that she had access to not only Asari state secrets but perhaps the biggest Asari state secret, how likely is it that Benezia was a spymaster? Was teaching religion and philosophy part of her cover?

It would certainly explain her past connection to Saren and would be in keeping with her viewpoint that the Asari should be active in shaping galactic events. It would also go a long way towards explaining how Liara was able to form the nuts & bolts of a private spy network.

Following the retrieval of Shepard's corpse, perhaps she cracks some of her mother's old files and tracks down old sources of information, both legitimate and illegitimate. She reveals herself as Benezia's daughter and soon has rallied a small cadre of trusted informants & muscle, who would form the basis of her organization. Maybe she takes one former contact that was very loyal to her mother (and presumably, can be trusted) as her chief lieutenant, relying on his or her tutelage to bring her up to speed on running an information network. Maybe this contact is even Nyxeris, who later betrays her.

Thoughts?

Anyone else think Benezia may have been a spymaster, explaining how Liara was able to transition relatively seemlessly from scientist to an information broker in the Terminus? Or for that matter, does anyone have any competing theories?

Mass Effect has some pretty unattractive aliens, so many are strange looking. I don't think I could get over the wrong number of fingers, it creeps me out and probably messes up their maths. Star Trek had a lot more sexy aliens but of course that was limited by being a tv show where everything was done with make-up.

Wait, not even asari? But they look exactly like...  nevermind.

How would it screw up their math if they don´t have ten fingers??

I do believe that Liara one way or another took advantage of the resources available being Benezia's daughter. She must have had contacts available aswell as financial support.

They would use base 6 instead of base 10? Not sure how big an issue that would be in the ME universe.

@PMC65 I was half joking, trying to quote Kaidan's response when Liara says she's not exactly a woman. Yeah asari don't look exactly human, but I think the design is human enough to look attractive but different enough to look alien. Maybe I'm just a perv who's happy so long as there's boobs, I've even found the occasional klingon attractive.

I always thought it was strange that Americans can't tell the difference between various British accents but then I realised I can't tell the difference between an American accent and a Canadian accent so it makes sense really. I didn't know Americans knew who Cheryl Cole was, I thought no one could understand her so she was going to have to come home. I don't think Shepard would have approved if Traynor had called her "pet" though. Maybe she should have been welsh instead, there aren't enough welsh people in games (except DA2).

@DevilBeast we use base 10 maths because we have 10 fingers, so aliens with fewer fingers are likely to use different maths. Where as asari would probably have base 10 maths too since they have 10 fingers. If I recall correctly Liara wasn't comfortable with base 12 maths that she needed for work on the crucible.

EDIT: can't form sentences today

I honestly don't know, I deliberately avoided the demo so can't tell you if it's from there. I found it by popping the smaller picture you posted into google's image search.

Okay I am fairly sure her eyes must be eternity black here, there is no way they would be that dark just by being in shadow, shadow that would only seem to hit her eyes otherwise.

Any blue baby supporting Shepards (not my Shep) would be glad of the shared base 10 maths, would make helping with maths homework much easier. Honestly though I don't get how everyone manages with all the different cultures, must be easy to say something accidentally offensive. Plus different species probably prefer different temperatures, different day lengths. If I recall correctly Thessia seemed about the same temperature as earth but its day length was about 27 earth hours, not a crazy difference but would still take some adjusting. Also Thessia has no moon, how strange would that be?

Are you sure that Thessia actually has no moon, and not just that we simply can't target the moon? Because you can't specifically target the moons of planets in the sol system that we know have moons.

If it doesn't have a moon, wouldn't that mean Thessia's beaches and oceans would be very different from Earth's? Or is that just a myth and not actually how things work

SADFACE

Honestly, there are a lot of Canadian accents, many similar to American ones. It's all regional, really.

Ones that I feel are distinct enough to mention (out of english speaking ones, at least) are:
-Ottawa Valley area accent
-Newfoundlander accent
-Maritime accent (I can't hear a difference between a Nova Scotian and a Prince Edward Islander, generally)
-Southern Ontario Accent
-Prairie/Western Canadian accent. (Similar in ways to accents from the Northern states like N.Dakota, Alaska, Minnesota, etc.)
As for British Columbia, I've only been there once and only in Victoria, so I have no idea if there are any main ones there. I wasn't really paying much attention.

But there are many regional differences in Canadian accents. The stereotypical Canadian accent is about as ludicrous as the stereotypical British accent we hear all the time in North America.

But I will say, once in a blue moon I'll end a sentence with "eh?" just for laughs, but I honestly can't recall any moment in my life where I'd legitimately heard someone pronounce about as aboot in a sentence. Not even the most slurred up crazy newfoundlanders, and I go up there pretty often enough.

Benezia is probably the best guess.

We also know that Feron has datamined the SB base's computers and got information from it. I'd imagine Liara sold some of the information. Maybe Cerberus (Miranda?) helped her too?

That's just a general stereotype...that might hold true if you were in Newfoundland or somewhere along the east. Accents vary according to regions. I'm from Vancouver, BC, and I sound indistinguishable from people who also live along the Northwest Pacific coast (e.g. Seattle, Tacoma, etc.). People in Ontario do have more of the stereotypical accents associated with Canadians. The aboot thing is more noticeable there.

I know what you mean. Once in a while, I'll go up to one of my friends who's not Canadian and go, "Man, we better put on our toques and get on our toboggans to catch the caribous before they cross the chesterfield, eh?" (Warning: this sentence means absolutely nothing). Honestly, I have never used the word chesterfield in my life, but apparently, that's a slang word here.

Thanks for the information about Canadian accents. I wasn't completely serious about my comment, but it is honestly the only difference I notice, although I mostly ever hear Canadian accents in NHL broadcasts.

...so, tying this neatly back to Liara - what human sport would she like watching? Surely she'd be a cultured, civilized person and like ice hockey?

A moon you can't target? Sorry, I don't know what you mean by that. I was pretty sure about the lack of moon on Thessia, lemme check the wiki page well according to that there's no moon. The moon does affect the tides on earth but I feel like I read somewhere that other other things affect it too. But yeah I think without a moon tides would be less noticable.

I'd like to think she'd enjoy hockey, for sure. It's fast paced and is played on ice, of all things!
And it's my favourite sport. Perhaps she'd also enjoy football/soccer. Perhaps Rugby.

I'm not sure she'd enjoy baseball.

It's all too hard to say, really. Speculation and all that jazz.
