Yeah, I wasn't a fan of it either. I thought that at first, only Shepard would be able to communicate with Javik, due to the Cipher, and that eventually, he'd share a translation device so everyone could understand him.

Javik's a tool, never liked him. He was novel, briefly, on my first playthrough. Now he's a pain the gets relegated to N7 missions. He's worse than Ashley, at least her negativity only seems to apply to aliens/Cerberus; Javik is against everything (at least if you're paragon). I remember on my last playthrough I took him on Grunt's mission and went 'you've gotta be ****ing kidding me!?', when he complained about krogans being too aggressive. He's ME's Buzz Killington, or Marvin the Paranoid Android (without the irony).

The only thing I like about him is he gives another dialogue where Shepard can discuss how important their LI/squad is to them (two, sort of, if it's Liara).

Javik is one of my favorite character. I'm glad they put him in the game.

This. I don't like the way the Protheans treated the Rachni - using them like a weapon then kill them. Javik is the last Prothean doesn't mean he can look down on Shep's crew members. I didn't have the DLC in my first playthrough, Liara and Garrus came out of the Normandy. When I had the DLC Liara and... Javik came out of the Normandy. Aghhh, where is my bro Garrus??

About that, since biotic abilities are omni-present in the asari do you guys think that some of the games/sports played on Thessia and other asari worlds would make use of biotics as a part of the game either being based around their use or used to enhance the game. Or might they be banned from use?

 

I think they would definantly use biotics.

I really don't see Liara as being heavily into competitive sports or anything. I can see her enjoying more strategy based games, board games, maybe even some video games, but I don't see any of it being a huge hobby of hers - at best a passing interest - because if it was something she was heavily into...well, it would've come up sometime during the series.

As far as Asari sports, I really do believe they would involve biotics heavily. It's just too ingrained into Asari society as natural. When Asari play in sports other races created though, biotic use is probably restrained or banned.

It's nice, but if you're tired of the MP it probably won't do much for you.

Yeah, people have a habit of shipping people that don't like eachother together (Liara/Javik, Jack/Miranda, etc). There are a lot of M/M slash fics that put the protagonist/antagonist together. I really don't get it. Do people really think that there is some kind of sexual tension behind every conflict?

There is nothing in Liara's dialogue or notes that even hints that she's attracted to Javik (even when not romanced). My impression it was personal distate tempered by professional curiosity. On Javik's side, whenever he bothers to think of anyone else at all, at best it approaches a grudging respect. I don't think Javik likes any of the crew but I'm sure he grows to respect most of them.

I find it funny that he constantly puts down what Shepard and this cycle have done, yet all he offers in return are the failures of the Protheans in the last cycle. I'm always like, 'yeah so how did that work out for you?'

I actually ship Javik+Aethyta since I read some comics on Deviantart. I'm sure Liara would want another half-sister, who is part Prothean. xD

Off-topic: I don't like him. It doesn't mean I hate him. People can like him, I can dislike him. He is an asset for the war, a member of the team. He and Shep have a same purpose : destroy the Reaper, nothing more. If he had to sacrifice all developed species to destroy the Reaper, I think he would do it. I have no problem with him being in the game.

Did anyone else think Kai Leng is the lamest character to ever grace a Mass Effect game? Definitely the world's most ineffective assassin:ph34r: Also throwing Liara around like that, you douche, I couldn't hit that renegade stab button hard enough:devil:

I in general like character like Javik, HK-47 and Korgan. They just hate everyone and I have a good laugh at them. On the other hand Javik is brutally honest and has one of the best scenes with Liara and the cosmic imperativ is personally for me, the best dialogue in the whole series.

But I can understand if people don't like that type of character.
For me they just add some spice to the group.

I mean angry Liara was always kind of awesome, even when the context is so tragic. ^.^

@CrimsonN7. Not cool, I just wanted to drink something.

[EDIT]: Kei Leng is my personal arch enemy, he **** slaps Liara all the time. That's highly offensiv.

Like I said I like the brutal honesty and I find it interesting that he on one hand says what he would do but on the other admit that the protheans failed and depending on how you interact with him he's not so bad when you speak to him in London

And I like how we got to see a scene where Liara is truly angry, physically threatening, biotics glowing and all. This time she really looked like she was going to actually flay him alive!

Yup, agree, it was a great scene.

Seconded or thirded or whatever. Javik has his place. I think he is interesting especially if you bring him along on the Thessia mission because it really gives you alot of extra backstory about the Protheans and what they were like in their cycle. That scene you are talking about is very well done, its one fo the best in the game I think.

Hk-47 and Mandalore (I forget his name) are awesome. HK-47 isn't a troll, he is funny and doesn't like organic. They are loyal to Revan as a friend (Mandalore), servant (HK-47) if you read the novel Revan. I won't list Javik into HK-47 and Mandalore's place.
The Krogan put honor, challenge, brotherhood first. I won't list Javik into the Krogan's place too.
Javik adds more layers, makes the game more real. His character just isn't in my favorite list. It means Bioware did a great job in creating Javik. Because his character is realistic. Ok, I will stop talking about Javik now. I'm sorry for these off-topic posts.

TOP: My Rison Shepard (he isn't my canon Shep) and Liara

I actually wrote every Liara conversation on the Citadel except the one with Aethyta (which I thought was a hoot). I’ll inform her writer about it, though. Sounds like a bug.

Add my kudos to the others, for all invovled with Liara's romance. Extremely well done.

She was my Shep's canon romance, and after seeing the others, I made the right choice.
