Anyway, I don't like to dwell on Liara hate, regardless of the form it is expressed in.

Don't let any of this get to you! Making sense or trying to understand this petty hate is something I've given up on a long time ago. All I know is that Liara is my favorite character, and I'm sure that everybody here knows as well as I do why Liara has managed to gain our love, and there may be different reasons for each one, but all that matters is that we are fans of Liara. Even if everybody else hated her would be inconsequential. Just ignore it and don't let it affect what you know is true and that is the fact that you are a fan of Liara.Akernis wrote...

This was also the atmosphere for me in LotSB, especially at the end, when Liara is crying. I just couldn't handle myself and I almost cried myself. It's very hard for me to see her cry.
So as I said, there is something sad about Liara in Mass Effect 3, that wasn't there in Mass Effect 1.

What is extra awsome about this is, that the artist's shepards BFF is Liara. It is the first pic I have ever encountered of such a thing.(And broshep will always pwn sheploo ;P )

Awesome fanart. I love that one, especially since Liara looks very feminine in that dress and isn't wearing an N7 hoody. She seems more in character than some other fanart out there.
To me that kind of looks like Sheploo with Liara, except with longer hair. It looks like Sheploo as a civilian.

I really love her in that pose (hence the avatar that I chose) - it's another example of how seemingly without trying she can be captured in a rather striking moment in what is otherwise a normal conversation (this being just prior to her release from Therum) that makes for a very nice picture. I love any kind of variation of this.
Agreed with both points here.Theodoro wrote...
This is nice, but the face doesn't quite look like Liara on this fan art, and the dress she wears appears just a bit too human. Something like the dress that she wears in the cabin scene after LotSB would have suited her better, I think.
I like to think that most asari dresses are not strictly one color, or even not ones with a dominant one, but a mixture of different colors instead, mostly two of them. Aria's dress is white and pink, Liara's is purple and red, and the one she wore back on Therum was green and white - at least for the more casual ones. That's why I think that if yellow is used with another color it might not look as odd on the blue skin as a dress that is solely in yellow.Akernis wrote...
When Liara at the date scene talked about Benezia "She loved to wear yellow, I thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world" I recall thinking that I was glad that she did not follow in her mother's footsteps at the former, but did at the latter.
I dislike the fact that human women and asari seem to share the same fashion. I would have preferred it if they were at least a little more distinct and not that one and the same piece of clothing was slapped on hundreds of NPCs regardless of whether they were human or asari. So, yes, I like your suggestion that this fashion originated from Thessia.Wulfram wrote...
The first looks more specifically Asari, while the others look more generically Mass Effecty
Though I guess you'd expect general Mass Effect fashions to tend to follow the lead of Thessia anyway, so I dunno.

The first is the best IMO and I could easily see it as casual clothing, perhaps without the jewelry but otherwise.Theodoro wrote...
On the topic of more asari-like casual clothing for warmer days, I did a lot of digging in DeviantArt for ideas, since I think the one Liara wears in the posted fan art is something that I can easily see a human wearing, as well.
In other words, I've been searching for clothes that can only really fit for asari and their lifestyle. I found a few pieces of fan art which caught my attention as to what I think an asari would wear:
Picture #1
Picture #2
Picture #3
Picture #4
Picture #5
What do you guys think? I personally love the one on Picture #1 (as I do the whole picture), but does it seem like something that would be worn for more official and/or festive occasions, rather than to serve as a casual piece of clothing?
True enough, I hadn't thought about that, there was one asari, I think it was on Noveria that wore an nearly exclusively yellow dress and the effect was less than appealing but it might look okay if it was more naturally blending with another colour.Theodoro wrote...

Agreed, there was on asari whose casual clothing I really liked, I can't remember her name but she the one in the second game who welcomed you to to Nos Astra and told Shepard where to find Liara.Theodoro wrote...

Those clothes - and that dress - don't look bad on her. The color isn't a very good one though - a yellow sun dress on blue skin? Kindof awkward looking.
Also I feel those clothes are a bit too modern and out of place for the ME setting.

Come to think of it, maybe asari just prefer to wear more formal clothing most of the time, or that they don't consider it as such like we do? Maybe a part of their culture is to always look respectable, even when among friends and family.Han Shot First wrote...
I love both 1 and 5, and can picture Liara wearing them, though they both seem like something that would be worn on formal occasions. Since both have a less futuristic vibe to them, perhaps they are more traditional Asari formal wear, sort of like how modern Japanese may still wear a kimono on special occasions?

While I didn't cry, I had a similar reaction with the 'Name in the Stars' scene. I found the whole thing so sad (though touching) that I had to shut off the Xbox and give Mass Effect 3 a break for awhile. There I was, bummed that two fictional characters' lives were being interrupted by war.
Recently it has become cool on the BSN to bash the writers after the ending debacle, but I think they mostly delivered with ME3 and the 'Name in the Stars' scene is a good example. As much as I dislike the ending, I found it to be the most emotional chapter in the series and was totally engrossed in the story and characters up until the last 10 minutes or so.

I agree. The 'Name in the stars' scene was really hard for me. I think I already talked about it, but as I said, just watching Liara talking about Shepard, and how great soldier he is, and with Shepard sitting there and smiling and her, with the music in the background, I could really feel the sadness that was there in the air. There was a strange atmosphere. Sadness mixed with love. That's something I think only Mass Effect can do, and the way it can affect people is amazing. I must say that this scene was difficult for me. Not like the romance scene though. That scene makes me tear up almost everytime I watch it. (I think I talked about my emotions regarding that scene enough).

The 'Name in the Stars' scene may be my favorite in the entire series.
Liara's Farewell gift was close though. I also liked how in the farewell she seemed to have matured. There aren't any tears, just "I love you. Now, lets do what needs to be done."
Considering how devastated Liara was after Shepard was killed when the SR1 was destroyed, if that farewell had happened at some point prior to ME2 I don't know that Liara would have been able to hold back the tears. I don't want to say that the period of grief she went through before hardened her, only that it led to acceptance and her being better able to manage it.
