Hah. Yeah, I've read a lot of fanfics that portray Shepard's dancing skills as somewhat lacking. One example:
Manipulations by akg_writes:
---
She marched onto the dance floor with the same gait and determination she
strode into battle, disappearing into the dancing masses. After rolling her eyes at
Alenko, Williams followed her. She didn't get that far, coming to an abrupt stop as
soon as Shepard came back into view, her mouth dropping open.
She stared for a long minute.
"Commander, with all due respect," she said finally, "you are without a doubt the
worst dancer I've ever seen in my entire life."
"You're not the first to accuse me of that, Chief," Shepard replied easily, shuffling awkwardly but utterly unaffectedly around the floor with little grace and even less rhythm.
Williams stared at her, absolutely baffled. "How can you... you... do all those
things you do and then..." She waved helplessly at her, unable to describe what she
was seeing in a way that would not result in either a bullet to the gut or a court
martial.

Oh I don't know, Shepard is not nessecasrily a bad driver, I managed to get through the chase after Vasir the first time without hitting anything, it was first afterwards on the thread that I figured out you could trigger the dialog by hititng two proximity mines. And I know that some Shepard's, for examble TheMarshall's in A Good Night and my own are fairly skilled dancers even if the game does not show that.shepard1038 wrote...

Just because a majority of players could not control the vehicles and the animations for Shepard dancing was lousy does not mean that it should be locked that way for those who like it otherwise.
There are lots of little tidbits about Shepard that the game railroads that are (at least in my eyes) perfectly fine to adapt to the individual as long as the core values for the game remains intact, and no part of the games' integrity is hurt by having a Shepard who can drive skillfully or dance well.

I agree wholeheartedly. My sheps are all exceptional drivers, at least in game. Outside of RPGs, racing games are my favourite (especially Forza) and...well, it kind of transferred over well. The Mako took a minute or two to get used to(getting the thrusters down pat was the only tricky part), and I loved the thing. The taxi cab in LOTSB was fun too, though I don't know why Liara was so terrified of my driving. Maybe she's a backseat driver or something.
And yeah, Shep's dancing is pretty bad in the games, but...perhaps that's because she just wasn't feeling it at those moments.
Maybe it's a ploy to raise morale

Maybe that's something else Liara can do for Shepard - teach him how to dance! Honestly, I think Liara has the best dance moves out like everyone you see dancing. So she definitely has something to teach Shepard there.
As far as Shepard's driving - I don't think it's so much that he's a bad driver - he isn't, it's just that when he's driving chaos usually is happening that is really scary to be around. I mean, it takes good driving skills to survive the Illium chase and such, but it's just that when Shepard is driving, things like that chase tend to be happening!

I always have part of it as my headcanon that Liara's been conditioned into being terrified of drives with Shepard in control of the vehicle. It might also be that things you're driving against that scares her (e.g. trucks, other cars, proximity mines, etc.)

I actually never did it myself because I didn't know you could and I missed it, too, but I've seen youtube videos that include her dancing.
It's something like, you have to be romancing her and at some point later in the game go to flux and talk to her and she'll start dancing.
I kinda want to replay ME1 just to see it, cause I haven't found a good youtube video that really shows off how it works, just some that has some of her dancing animation.
Edit - here's really the only youtube video I know of that really has her dancing

Thanks, that video was very cool. Shepard and Liara were very inconspicuous on the dance floor with their armor and weapons.

I'm sorry I've not been around much and I'm sorry for the lack of blogging and/or fanficing. I've been having some quite major personal problems lately and it's been hard to deal with that and get on with my writing.
Starting to get somewhere with them though, and I've FINALLY got the second chapter of my ME2 Femshep/Liara fanfic "Separation and Reunion" done.
Few quick notes:
- It's set between Shep's revival and Horizon.
- Liara isn't actually IN this chapter. It's all Naomi and a lot of emotional stuff.
- On reflection, it's a little angsty. But that's very important for the overall story.
Please leave feedback. I hope you enjoy.
Separation and Reunion - Chapter 2: Resurrection
Anyway, apart from that...what major things have I missed in the last hundred pages or so? Any particularly hot Liara or Femshep/Liara pics?

No matter, chapter 2 done now. And since I'm over that I'm hoping I can sort of just keep going at them now. Busy tomorrow but on Thursday I think I'll sit down and make a start on the next Chapter.

I like it. Summary technique is dear to my heart, hate simply rehashing the game and quoting massive amounts of stuff verbatim, prefer to use key lines of dialogue as anchors but flesh the rest ouf myself.
Nice use of original dialogue, in character as well which helps with immersion. Looking forward to chapter 3

Shepard dosn't say anything to that, they just dance inidividually.shepard1038 wrote...
Actually yeah when shepard is talking with jack she says everyone knows you can't dance and shepard says so?
Garrus also makes a comment about Shepard dancing. For me that can mean as little or as much as you want it.
Does the game imply that Shepard is a bad dancer? yes it does.
Do I think that is a locked point that cannot/should not be changed to suit the player? no.
I like the idea of my Shepard being a fair dancer, possibly not something classic or special just knowing how to move well on the dance floor.
I don't see any problem with small changes like that. it is not as if it radically alters who Shepard is or actually affects anything within the story.

Shepard probably just doesn't care if other people think his dancing is bad or not, and just dances to have fun and relax. I could see Shepard dancing some corny dances with Liara and just totally enjoying it even if he looks lame doing it, though - but Liara can dance so with her in the lead I could see it actually being a stylish dance.
Maybe that's something else Liara can do for Shepard - teach him how to dance! Honestly, I think Liara has the best dance moves out like everyone you see dancing. So she definitely has something to teach Shepard there.
I love how Rae described how good a dancer Liara is, even if it is of a more private adult nature;)

I can't gush enough about Rae's stories, she really stays true to established canon and adds her own unique aspects to Liara iswell which I have accepted as canon myself:D
Also I just realised I missed the 1600, son of a b*tch, I gotta check in more^_^ Hey I'm top, have a Liara:wub:

Actually yeah shepard says so? It happens on the game.
@MidnightRaith
The kid appears as a symbol of the people shepard could not save.
I would have like if the dreams showed all the traumatic moments of shepard's life from me1 to me3.
And also that in the dreams you could see shepard crew getting killed and friends and also
moments where shepard has to fight and pulls the trigger on his friends.
