Yunno I still don't get the whole Tali love thing, I just don't see it, the girl does nothing for me. I like her as a character, she's alright, kinda like a kid sister but to romance erm nah.:? Maybe I should pop into the Tali board to understand why but I guess it's a case of different strokes for diferent folks:huh: People say Liara's naive, this girl is in a league of her own:P

Talimancers can be weird...lots of them see things in Tali that just aren't there - a common thing among the crazier Talimancers is liking her because she's "pure and innocent" and they feel they can "protect her" - essentially, some see her as the perfect submissive japanese waifu.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg - the depths of the Talimancer base...that could fill up an entire thread of it's own, it doesn't belong here.

lol this is ME3 we're talking about - suffice to say everyone got screwed.  Maybe not equally, but screwed nonetheless.

Yea, I can't really understand the fascination with her either.  Ive read through the tali threads (a fair few hundred pages over the past few months, my sanity may have suffered), i tried a PT of ME2 with a romance - its just a pair of shoes I couldn't  fit into or get comfortable with, didn't give me blisters or anything just not my type of shoe.

Another thing that always bothered me in ME2 is how Shep never questioned what Cerberus did to his/her body, I know if that was me I'd hound Chakwas to run every test imaginable on me, what they did was unnatural, I would want to know what they put in me

In the last scene with Liara(LI) of my playthrough, Shep mentions that after seeing the VI technology she's worried that the illusive man just created a VI version of her with all her memories.  Liara said that was silly, the first time she touched me she knew it was the real me.  So atleast there's that.

Yeah I've heard some strange things over there, I don't think any other thread has topped the creepometer of what does Tali's sweat taste like? Suffice to say I don't think we reached those restrain order heights yet:D

Well, originally that maleshep also romanced Liara in ME1. But I wanted someone different in ME2 and Tali was the most likeable character, to me. But since then, just like Liara, and especially in ME3, I've come to seem more in the relationship with Tali.

The reason I like Tali and Liara the most because they are the only two characters that loved Shepard from the start (although with Tali you only find this out in ME2) and they always stick by Shepard and never doubt them.

Also, I RP'd that my male Shepard (Akuze/Spacer/Paragon) didn't like how Liara had changed in ME2. My femshep has a greater connection with Liara, due to her background, and was willing to fight through the walls Liara put up and fight for what they had. My maleshep thought she was cold and distant and thought they wouldn't work anymore. Still best friends and confidants though.

Also, my maleshep (due to Akuze) hates Cerberus. So Tali's attitude when she rejoins the Normandy fits right in (and her dialogue in ME3, regarding Cerberus, is gold for this! They're like Bonny & Clyde!). And they both grew up on ships. Add to that they're incredibly close friends. So, when Tali says she's always been interested in Shepard, he pursues it. And it works. She fits (that) Shepard like a glove, and vice-versa.

Tali's a brilliant character and great romance (some incredibly touching scenes). The only thing is that BW's reluctance to show her face makes romance scenes less physical (not even kissing). I'd love for a maskless, or tintless-masked, Tali in the EC (or a costume pack) but I doubt I'll get it.

Garus  has the best goodbye scene..

Ah, saying goodbye to Garrus.....I told myself to be strong when I got there...but it didn't help... he started talking about that bar and all and I started crying my eyes out....then I stumbled over the bridge to the other part of the area and saw Liara standing there and continued crying. It was more of a preemptive crying because I know that whatever will happen in the goodbye scene with Liara will make me cry anyway so why stop inbetween :crying:  Gosh, those were some hard minutes right there....

But Liara's goodbye scene was wonderful, too! Definitely had some impact and was just plain beautiful...sad but beautiful.

Wait, are we talking about just saying goodbye to Garrus or being all lovey-dovey with Garrus and saying goodbye? Don't have much experience with the latter....he always was my buddy so I only got the normal goodbye scene which was hard enough for me.

I agree. Tali is a wonderful character, and has a great romance through the series. I personally didn't mind that they didn't show her face(on the actual model). I didn't feel the need to ever really see her face, it didn't matter to me.  I think that the lack of a reveal allowed for the potential for more intimate scenes, which BW capitalized on to a degree. Tali's "I want more time"(paraphrasing here) at the end of ME3 was just heartbreaking and was perfect, considering the situation and Tali/Shep's relationship up to that point.

Tali is...a bff for my femshep (my main). Definitely more a little sister than anything, but I can absolutely see how Tali could be seen as romanceable. I mean, she's got a good heart, has tremendous dedication to her people(and those she's close to), she's fairly strong willed despite being somewhat insecure of herself and her abilities(understandable, given quarian culture and her upbringing), and she's really smart, and enthusiastic.

I mean, I think some talimancer go a bit far...certainly...she is a very likeable and appealing character within some contexts. I mean, my main shep wouldn't think of Tali that way(and Tali apparently doesn't swing that way either), but after Liara, she'd probably be neck and neck with Thane and Samara as a target for my Shep's interest. But because Liara exists, there's no question :P

I don't get the feud thing here people seem to be talking about. I tend to stay out of those things. I stayed out of this thread for a long while until I decided my love of Liara, need for content and need for support post-ME3 warranted it. The only reason I stay out of the Tali thread is because her mask limits the variety in artwork, maskless shots are too varied (I like BW's vision, if not they're method of conveying it) and I only have so much time.

For me, Liara is perfect for my canon femshep. She doesn't fit with my canon maleshep, Tali does. Neither fit with my renegade maleshep, or my female paragade. So I don't think it's fair to judge any LI as 'best'. I certainly have characters I 'like' more than others, but that's an aesthetic judgement (which is subjective) not a value judgement. I like Liara and Tali almost equally, but I think it's my attachment to my femshep (and thus her relationship with Liara) that puts her ahead slightly. But it's not a competition. That's why I have both those Shepards, I get to enjoy the best of both worlds! :D

Also love Jack. Miranda grew on me in ME3 as well (quite a bit, surprisingly, I'm tempted to replay that character more for that relationship than because I enjoy playing that Shepard, lol).

I more or less just think that sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming, with the amount of detail some people write about the suit's functionality. Among a few other things that make my eyes glaze over(I'm no engineer). I don't like feuds between characters, they're all quite well done, even the ones my Sheps don't like. There's no real best LI, I agree...just the best for whatever Shepard the player has. I think that level of variety should be embraced.

And yeah,, Jack is pretty awesome :) I wub her snarkiness!

You could say the same about a lot of what we discuss about Liara in here. For example, her crest, the meld, 'marking', 'bonding', her skin, her private parts, asari culture, etc. I'm sure a lot of people would come in here and think 'WTF?!', lol. I think Tali fans have a little tougher since BW didn't, really, show them what was under the suit. And have only discussed quarian physiology in very vague terms. Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with what we discuss or what they might discuss. It's all coming from the same point. I don't like the branding of people as 'Talimancers' or 'Liaramancers' either (even if it's self-imposed), it seems to carry a negative stigma and incite an 'us versus them' mentality which shouldn't be welcomed. It's the kind of thing that leads to stuff like the Liara hate threads we all loathe.

Also, on the topic of Tali (since we're on it), I hate that photo in ME3. Not because it's photoshopped or whatever, or how she looks (I like it), it's that I have to watch a cutscene each time I want to view it and 90% of the cutscene is bloody Shepard looking at it! Even when they do show the picture it takes 3/4 of that remaining time to remove the glare and show her face. I can accept this once but not every time I want to view it! After the first it should give me a close-up of it (which I have to manually exit). First time I got that scene I had to watch it about 6 times before I thought I'd gotten a decent idea of how she looked.

Anyway, back on topic, some blue:

I don’t (obviously) mind that. I tried to read the Tali thread for a while, but it’s…a bit juvenile. Each thread has some characteristics that pop up more often than not.

– This one is a little on the starry-eyed side.
– The Tali full of weird OT Facebook-style stuff.
– The Miranda thread has the greatest number of conspiracy/bizarre theoreticians.

Etc.

I just finished ME3 yesterday and I'm glad I changed my romance in ME3 to Liara. I didn't romance anyone in ME1 because I didn't know you could, I romanced Tali in ME2 but I really liked how thoughtful Liara was when she made that time capsule explaining the reapers for future civilizations. So I changed it my romance to Liara and it was touching when you see Liara's face in Shepard's last memory of her in the ending whilst that amazing piano theme plays. Also her goodbye on Earth is very well made as well.

Welcome to the blue. You need to do another ME1, ME2 LotSB, ME3 playthrough and romance her inall  three games. I'm sure that It's worth the replay.

So angry :pinched:, but id be lying if I said I didn't see that type of blinding rage behaviour coming (practically every LI thread has gone through the phases to some degree - i dont think any of them have hit acceptance yet lol), thanemancers got pretty obsessivly passionante about their sick, redemptive, (nonsensical), assassin classed frogman - nobody is their friend right now (except maybe jacob romancers - dont give me that look there are some!) - the ''woe is me'' condition should pass once they calm down and realize most mass effect fans are in the same boat as they but alas...emotions can be funny things.

My 2 cents:

In my experience here, Talimancers have this paranoia about Liara, that she somehow stalks them or something equally odd.

Did I complain that Tali was forced on me for the geth mission like they generally do about the Thessia/Javid missions? No. Why? Because all the characters are generally interesting in their own way. Tali's a great character, but I don't feel threatened just because she wants to talk to me as a friend.

Well it wasn't just that one scene (though thank you for posting the bug fix).  The friend comments during the citadel date and time capsule were really off putting.  I really, really wish there was romance specific SOMETHING in those scenes.  As many people have said, even Liara just resting her head on Shep's shoulder (or vice versa) during the time capsule scene would have been enough.

Also I really wish that there was some mechanic to lock in the Liara romance either right away on Mars or during the scene you mentioned.  Now of course this could only happen if you romanced her in ME1, did not romance anyone in ME2 and re-affirmed the relationship in LotSB. Or some other really stringent qualifications to make the option availible.  I understand why Bioware approached the situation the way they did; they wanted to make sure no one was forced into a situation they did not want.  That's fine, but if I've been completely faithful to Liara through two full games, why on earth would I want to end it now in the last chapter?

Edit: Oh dear, didn't know I'd be top.

I've romanced Ashley, Miranda, Jack, Tali, Specialist Trayner. But Liara is by far the best romance my Shepard has. And it helps that Liaras romance scenes are better than all the others IMO..
