How much do you think Liara will challenge Shepard's decisions in ME3? Will she support him no matter what he or will she call him out if she feels like he is too ruthless and merciless.

My Shepards are all mostly paragon so I doubt Liara will call Shepard ruthless. Also, even with Liara being more independant now, I don't think it's in her nature to really challenge Shepard's decisions. If anyone is to challenge Shepard's decisions it'll be Ashley/Kaidan. No, I think Liara will support Shepard all the way. Hopefully it also depends on how you treated her in Lotsb. Treating her badly and not invite her to the normandy for drinks leaves Liara alone and sad in her base so I can see this having an effect on how Liara behaves in ME3. Since no Liara fan would ever be that cruel to her or deny her the drinks on the normandy, I don't think Liara fans will be seeing that side of her and will instead have a supportive Liara on board in ME3.

That^^

Even my Shepards that have other LI always invites Liara up for drinks.  I don't even know if I would do a playthrough doing that either.   Not invite Liara to the Normandy for drinks.

Would be a change for someone to actually step in and prevent Shepard from killing someone instead of Shepard stopping it (Garrus and Sidonis, Miranda and the lad). If someone did that to me I would hate it, but in the long term I will respect it and it shows that individual cares for me and like cypher says, the sheath that pulls Shepard back.

What does Liara say to ruthless Shepard background, anyways?

No idea! Too busy cheating. Pulling Shepard away from darkness should be considered the sign of a true friend, similiar to holding someones hair back while they throw up, not nice it acts like these make you appreciate your friends.

At about 6:15 on this vid is the conversation about Shep's background

She doesn't say anything negative:

"I looked into your history. I know what you did on Torfan. I cannot even imagine how horrible that must have been, but you did what had to be done."

Interesting. I always wonder what she'd say about that. I guess she respects you even for that.

I wonder what she'd make of ruthless Shep's nickname though "the butcher of Torfan". I only ever recall Major Kyle referring to Shepard as the butcher of Torfan, guess most people wouldn't want to risk pissing her off.

I can see Liara seeing it as part of what made Shepard into the person s/he is now.

I don't think it ever worked that way, renegade or paragon. Even if you did not romance Liara (something I cannot fathom) or even outright rejected her, (which there is a funny convo if you play her aquisition quest absolutely last in, which means no chance for convos and romance), she still saves you in ME2. I think the fact that Shep's importance to defeating the Reapers leans more to Shep's importance to Liara than treating her with kindness does. And if you treated her badly during the LotSB DLC, of which has only one outcome, I still don't think if you didn't romance her in, or did in ME1, then rejected her in the DLC, that she'll change in ME3. Unless there's an option to make some choice she disagrees with in ME3, That only remains to be seen and only specualtion. I hope there is, since that would add to the RPG aspect of the game.

Dunno what you guys are freakin out about regarding Liara's look in the E3 demo, she looks damn hot! Just like she did when I fell for her in ME1, and have been loyal to her from the since the beginning of ME1.

Bioware did the smart thing and went back to the original Liara look, that goofy cute tongue tied sexy asari we all fell in love with from the beginning in ME1.
Crusty old blue dry chapped lips compared to her original sexy pink lipstick  come on seriously .. whats wrong with you guys? lol

Way to much overkill on the blue I think.

The whole LOTSB blue eye thing meh.. Im still undecided on that as I originally stated that wasnt the same Liara I fell for in ME1 so Im glad bioware went back to the original Liara version.

Its kinda like you meet up with your first love after a long time away and she looks nothing like what you remember she looked like when you first set eyes on her suspended in that energy field on Therum.
Thats the Liara I remember.

So Bioware.. she looks perfect in ME3  Just like old times :D

No flames man. I know what you mean. ME1 had a nice blue. LotSB had a nicer blue. ME2 was purple (??) and ME3 its blue but more.. grey-ish.

LotSB > ME1 > ME3 > ME2 ... IMO

Saw the squad leader trailer. Looks like Liara gets...... injured in it. Perhaps thats simply a means in which squad mates can get incapacitated. Otherwise, I think that would be an odd way for a character to die. I doubt they would show a character dying in a trailer though.

No doubt. But that seems like a rather exaggerated gameplay death. Perhaps to the point where medigel wont help? Again, I doubt it, but it is interesting.

What, you serious, dude? You think they would kill Liara and not even let you know until... iI dont know, you complete the mission or something? And when was the last time someone died on the battlefield WITHOUT showing it in the cutscene?
And if you're fan of Liara, shame on you that you even thought something like that. :pinched:
I still can't take you seriously, but if you're, then ... :mellow::huh::blink:

That could have been a cutscene. You never know. It was a brief trailer.

I believe its a gimmick for the demo.... it only applies to Shep
