Oh, hi! I'm Jen; fairly new to the thread.. Only been popping in for under 100 pagesAre you the same Karmen Sandiego who left such awesome suggestions for Forever as One? If so, apologies for not getting back to you just yet - overseas on vacation atm, but just getting down to answering reviews now. Have to say - I love your suggestions, and one of them in particular (*cough* wedding *cough*) has been a ridiculously popular request! I actually have it written, lol, but have been sitting on it for over a week.

I frikken loved that vid! YOu did such an excellent job. I did however see it on( what I assume is your) tumblr first. Question: Where did the 'You know I love you. I always will.' come from?Is it exclusive to a new romance? (Props for picking control!)
I notice that the female shepards voice almost cracks, in all of the goodbye scenes.(The romance ones anyway.)

WB for everyone and thank you for telling me about Shepard's/Liara's sex life, I needed the good news.
Then we will be looking very forward to seeing when you do post itnoxiuniversitas1 wrote...
lol, Theo! I should have known better
Yeah, that's umm.. The chapter I'm *least* likely to actuall post in the near future, lol. Wrote it in 20 minutes immediately after the 30 or so it took for ch 2, and haven't revisted it since! It needs some TLC, though, as well as some pretty major revisions in concepts before I'll even consider posting it
Plus... If the other half accidentally catches sight of what I've written in ch 2, let alone ch 3, he may just die of shock, lol. Sooo - vacation editing is out of the question
It is a shame that Meer is not as emotional with the scene, I very rarely compare the two and am quite happy with Meer's performance in general but Hale's simply sounded astounding in that scene, shame Mark is not as into Liara as Jennifer isLeolein wrote...

Jen you do know that as soon as you even think about voicing that sort of thing Theo and I will be on you like hawks for getting to read it
I don't speak for everyone but I've always been intrigued by Liara's PoV because there's so much depth there, many things that are different than a human's perception of things. While it's more difficult to portray it, I believe that it can be more interesting, depending on the fic, of course. I'm all for any PoV!noxiuniversitas1 wrote...
And I almost worry Liara's POV will start to get old very quickly. Then again, first-person & present tense is my preferred style for touching / emotionally-invested scenes, so, I dunno...

Alright fellas, I am happy to show you the long promised picture (if anyone even remembers) of Liara that was painted by my dear mother. I (and my mother, ofcourse) hope you like it!
The quality of the picture is REALLY not good, and I apoligize for that.

At first I was like "how can you say it's not good, the painting is brilliant!"... then I realised you meant the picture of the painting wasn't goodTheDonk95 wrote...

I actually like that Meer is a little bit more composed. I think it is more in character with how he has portrayed Shepard throughout the three games.
In some ways the Male and Female versions of Shepard are different characters by virtue of having different voice actors, who act out the same scenes with slight differences. That doesn't mean however that the Male version of Shep cares about Liara any less.
But he does choke up when saying goodbye to Liara - if you watch the video of the goodbye scene between Shepard and Liara, you will see that he does. It's just not as evident as in FemShep's case, and that's perfectly normal. You can't expect it to be one hundred per cent the same. His goodbye is just as emotional.mavqt wrote...
I doubt even the most battle hardened solider wouldn't stutter, tear up or choke when saying goodbye to your (for RP sake lets say) true love when facing certain death. Just to clarify I'm not saying a full-on emotional wreak.

Not necessarily.
While Shepard and Liara's relationship might be a bit uncommon when compared to real world military experience, the bonds between soldiers or Marines can often be like those between brothers, particularly in combat. While the love of a wife or girlfriend is certainly different than the love felt towards a brother, losing a brother or sister you were close to would be no less profound. If you look at real world military experience during wartime, expressions of grief more often come in moments of quiet reflection rather than in the heat of battle.
Male Shep also does express emotion in that farewell scene, it is just much more subtle.

This short video clip I think might be relevant:
The War - I Killed Men
While he is talking about the emotional reaction to having taken lives rather than a reaction to the loss of a comrade, I think similar psychological factors are in play in suppressing the emotional reaction until the mission is over.
