Having just come out of a warm sunday-afternoon-summer-rain (and having stopped dripping), here's something that crossed my mind while I watched friends running around in light-hearted panic and listened to the raindrops exploding on my head:

Shep and Liara sit in Hyde park (rebuilt) / Janiri's Meadow city park on Thessia / on a remote piece of wild flowered green on an even more remote paradise world in the warm sun, having a romantic picnic and giggling like only lovers do.
Suddenly dark clouds come up on the horizon, the formerly bright blue sky darkens in a matter of minutes and the first thick raindrops start to fall. (No thunder and no lightning though, no need to fear anything.)

Will Liara
a) hastily throw all the romantic food in the romantic picnic basket and perfrom a not quite as romantic dash for the next tree?
B) stand up and run around in the dense rain, laughing and catching drops with her mouth?
c) do something else entirely?

And will Shep follow her lead or just rofl around on the soaked romantic picnic blanket?

C) Biotic barrier, silly. And Shepard will try to tickle her into losing her concentration.

I’ll mention it here for a change, too: “ME4: Unity” is up to Chapter 25. No absence of Liara in this one, either!

Nice, interesting read so far!
Though not having read part 1-24 yet, I probably lack a bit of perspective for the actual story. ;)
Will have to remedy that in the near future ...

  “If you read it backwards, it’s a story about…”

But thanks! ^_^

Careful now PMC, I have a blue baby pic on the ready if you're attempting to bum me out with a no Liara/Shep reunion piece:P

In my headcanon, it is almost a year before they see each other again. During that time Shepard was either in the hospital, convalescencing in Georgia and then her commitments once she comes out of hiding. But they finally reunite at a function honoring Shepard.

Of course a year is a long time for Shepard but not for Liara ... What's a year to an asari? Posted Image

Followed by a buy more DLC (or i guess in this case chapters) screen to reunite the legend of "The Shepard" with that of Dr. Liara T'soni. :D *shakes fists*

Depending on her mood, either B) embrace her giggling, playful inner child or c) :
And my Shep will join her either way

I agree here, for some reason I don't see rain as something that bothers Liara, I don't really see her as running around but definately standing and actively enjoying it, tilting her head back and taking delight in the senation of the raindrop slithering carressingly down her face and crest. Followed by Shepard standing up besides her, placing an arm around her and deciding to savour her company no matter the situation as the beautiful asari makes her joy obvious as she flashes him/her an appreciative smile before leaning in for a tender ki... *stops and looks around, blushes* I think my mind wondered off Posted Image

Enough time to get really, really upset that everybody you know has lied to you about your lover being dead, not least the said lover herself?

Turnabout is fair play ... She kept mum when she gave Shepard to Cerberus. Posted Image

So kettle (Liara) meet pot (Anderson)! And as to Shepard ... she can never stay angry for too long at her.

EDIT: Doozer ... Now we just get a thank you! Posted Image

Well, seeing what two years did to her I'd rather her not have to go through that again, just after reuniting with Shepard, to be quite honest.

I actually think I agree with this idea - it plays into how I see Asari as having more aquatic backgrounds and just generally being more at home around water than humans are - so Liara is not bothered by the rain and enjoys it, just casually. And I think just standing there feeling it wash over there is more fitting of her personality.

For me its about the story with these fictional characters.

My favorite love stories are Cyrano de Bergerac and Pride and Prejudice. One is love unrequited and the other had misunderstandings, hasty judgments and social hurdles to get over almost all the way to the end ... I like those kinds of love stories myself.

I know others prefer love stories where it is love at first sight, quick happy endings and while I enjoy those as well, I really prefer the hurdles and words/feelings unspoken. To each his own, as they say.

Shepard and Liara understand each other by ME3 and they also give each other room. When Liara finds out that Shepard is alive she knows that there was a reason that Shepard did not reach out to her. There is no anger but confusion as to why she had not heard from her and when she sees her at the dinner all she wants is a moment with Shepard to understand.

These two do not try and possess or control each other, which works for their relationship.*

* Applies only to EW Shepard & Liara - All other Shepard/Liara stories have their own relationships. Posted Image

I doubt Liara would agree with you in ME2. Heartborken would probably be a better adjective, followed by cold Posted Image. at least untill she opens slightly up and then LotSB.

I think "the worst years of her life" would be a fairly adequte way of describing those two years of "absence".

No blue baby and putting Liara to believe Shepard was dead. Flay E.W Shepard alive with your mind, Liara ! :P

I wish I could have a good dream about Liara. Two times I dreamed about her were sad dreams. One time I dreamed about fighting the husk when the reaper attacked Earth, I distracted them for my brother to run. And then I was out of ammo. After chasing me around, they finally got me. End of dream. :(

@FdL_Ananas question: I agree with Akemis if the rain is quite gentle. If it rains heavily, maybe they will run and stand under a tree ( I hope there isn't any thunder) and ... kissing time.

It's only tangentially related to Liara, but I thought I'd share regardless as I find it quite sad...

It's entirely possible that the mother may have only reacted negatively to the interspecies angle to the romance, but I somehow doubt it. I hope the anonymous confessor is never made to feel uncomfortable about who she is, and finds happiness in whichever way possible.

True, but there was a legitimate reason for that, shuting herself up emotional and throwing herself into her work and her obsessive hunt to find Feron, she never stops loving Shepard, it's just how she copes with loss, same when Shep died, Cerberus knew that she would be relentless and incredibly resourceful in her quest to get Shep's body back.^_^ Her building up that cold demenour is just a facade that Shep eventually cracks through, her love for Shepard is unchanged, the fear of losing Shep again just makes her alittle wary of getting hurt again naturally. Even seeing her face light up when Shep enters her office in Illium catching her off guard, she still adores Shep even after all their years apart due to Shep getting spaced. And even after two years apart she still considers herself taken when Shep questions her about her relationship with Feron.;)

I have had two dreams with her that I remeber.
The first was both a nightmare and a good dream, during the Adat-yaksi monestary Liara was pierced through the shoulder by the talons of a banshee and tossed aside, when I reached her I saw that around the wound banshee conversion had begun Posted Image then I awoke from the dream-within-a-dream to find myself sleeping beside Liara with her arm around me and saw that she was safe and sound.

the second dream was short but very memorable, I dreamt that Liara walked over to me and we kissed. That kiss was unbelievably incredible. Startlingly it was honestly one of the most enjoyable sensation I have ever experienced, asleep or awake. If a dream of a kiss with her can do that how powerful would a real joining be...

Edit: What do you think, FdL_Ananas?  You came up with the question, did you have an answer in mind?  (Also, your edits of 'Unconditional Surrender'/'The Kiss' are wicked awesome!!)

Haha, thanks!

And I didn't have any particular answer in mind. It's just a thought that came up in that situation (watching
screaming a) types can be so much fun :innocent:) and I thought it would be interesting to hear your takes on it.

I'm actually undecided myself. The romantic in me certainly shouts "B) B) B) !!!" and allready went to work on various fluffy appendices. But I could just as easily see Liara go for route a) if e.g. a bit of her shy / awkward side came out again, or she became angry because her perfectly arranged free time with Shep was interrupted.

Or maybe the contents of the picnic basket are just very, very exclusive and Liara was the one who had to pay for it.

Though she'd definitely much sooner be concerned about rain than money and luxury, now that I think of it ...

As for (my) Shep: She'd do everything she could to get Liara as wet as possible (and I trust you guys to get the correct meaning here ...

Actually ...

No, I don't ... :P

But deep in the tiny innocent corners of your hearts you know what I mean. ;))
