Thanks for the link to the article. OMG, I am lol'ing at this....

Retroplayer- Seeing as Liara mourned for Shepard for two years do you think she fundamentally feels different for him?

Ali- I can’t really say much because some people haven’t even played the DLC which goes a little bit into that.

Retroplayer- Well, they probably should of.

Ali- Yeah, they should of. All of you out there who have not played the DLC, get on it. A lot of stuff happens. You can’t just go from Mass Effect 2 to 3. You need to play the DLC. That’s one thing we need to do for Mass Effect 3, we need to record lines in different ways so that we can make up for all you slackers who have not played the DLC. You’re missing a lot if you haven’t played the DLC.

I think in the two years he was gone Liara realised a lot of things and had to put it aside, she had no choice. But was very hard on her

Makes me wonder how the dyanmic between a Shepard who stayed loyal to Liara, but did not have LOTSB. Will be handled.

Guess, I will never know.  I don't have a save file that I didn't do the DLC.  Suppose I will have to watch it on YouTube.

I got my fail-Shep who did not play LOTSB. But she is only a friend to Liara.

Same here. Finishing a playthrough but not playing Lotsb? Unacceptable and downright impossible for any Liara fan=]

It's impossible.  Even though I didn't romance Liara with all of my Shepards, but I always did the DLC.  I even went back to older files and did the DLC after it came out.

It's that good, but people on this thread knows this already.  :P

On every playthrough, as soon as I finished Liara's Illium assignments I'm really looking forward to doing Lotsb, but I always try to postpone it as long as possible (trying to save the best for later right?) But I'm still wondering. What's the best way to RP this entire situation? Just pretend TIM doesn't send the data until much later? I know this is a moot point for a lot of people but I try to play the game so it makes as much sense as possible. A Shepard who cares a lot about Liara and would do everything in his power to help her would not simply receive that data and then keep it from Liara for a long time now would he?

Honestly, you have to pretend you never had the info. That, or create a role playing reason for why Shepard is withhold it.

Do what I do. Pretend Shepard never got the data until he completed the suicide mission.

Pretending TIM didn't stumble upon the information until much later seems to be the easiest way to go. I never save Lotsb until after the SM though. I always do every available mission and assignment before the SM. Only exceptions are the cabin scene and Arrival dlc.

From a relationship standpoint it makes more sense to me to do Lotsb asap. As far as saving the best for last you can always save the game before talking with Liara, then reload after drinks on the Normandy. This way you can return for a visit with Liara as often as you like. That's how I play it because my Shepard wants to see Liara as much as possible.

But it does not make any sense from a story-telling point of view. Doing LOTSB before the SM feels like doing Arrival early.

I do the same like in the video I made. I flirt with Jacob, Liara gets the jealous dialogue, Shepard tells her she wants to be with Liara. Then I break up with Jacob.
For the Dinner scene I wait until after the SM.

So you could say I do LotSB pretty early.

It's just funny when Liara says. "Those bastards."  Pre SM. ^_^

[edit] I treat LotSB like my Shepards loyalty mission.

There's a piece of dialog thaat the Shadow Broker says about Cerberus that messes up the immersion when you do LotSB after the SM. What he says doesn't make since after the SM which is why I make a habit of doing LotSB before the SM.

I think we have this conversation every few weeks, but I view LotSB as Shepard's LM, at least any Shepard who's romanced Liara.  I might feel differently if I'd had to wait around for 9 months to play LotSB like some of you lot, but I lucked out and got it soon after I hit Illium.

^^This I agree with.  Especially Arrival.  I was a little disappointed when I found out both of these missions showed up after Horizon.  Time line wise they are after the SM.

I'm to the point now where I stop checking my messeges until after the SM.  That way I don't get forced into my cabin right after Horizon.

It's hard to doing LotSB until then.  I have three loyalty missions left on my PC game.  I have firewalker and a bunch of side missions left.  I'm undecided when to do SB though.  I don't have Overlord, Kasumi, or Arrival on my PC.  I do have enough points to get one of them.  I just don't know which one will have the greatest impact in ME3.

Any input on that would be appreciated.

Does Liara even comment if you just talk with someone after their LM and don't deny them? Say, if you talk to Tali she eventually talks about linking suits and by using a neutral response Shepard kind of says he would like to but he feels it's too dangerous. This doesn't affirm a romance but doesn't end it either. If you do Lotsb after this point, would Liara treat Shepard as if he were in a romance with Tali?

@Ladyvader

Between Arrival, Kasumi and Overlord I think either Kasumi or Overlord might have an impact. Arrival has no choices and is considered canon so even if you don't do it, nothing changes for ME3. For overlord you can set back Cerberus' attempts at controlling Geth by taking away david (wouldn't want Cerberus with an army of geth in ME3 now would we). For Kasumi you can opt to destroy the greybox holding dangerous information that could affect the alliance, also potentially crippling for ME3.

I guess I would personally go with Kasumi, also because I just love the Locust SMG more than any other non assault rifle weapon in the game.

Especially when you do Arrival before LOTSB. With Liara more concerned about you dying in a Reaper battle, then going on trial for destorying an entire system. Which is why I can only doing LOTSB before the SM if I did Arrival first. Since Liara making a big deal out of the SM makes more sense, since it's still going to happen.

The trigger for the different dialogue might be if Liara's picture is up or down.  To be honest, I really don't know.  If the picture is up, she might not say anything.  If the picture is down, Liara might say something.

I've never done that, so I really can't answer for certain.

When bringing Miranda along he tells you about how her death will affect Cerberus. That dialog clashes with the fact that Miranda had quit Cerberus in the playthrough so I just prefer doing LotSB before the SM. Also, for Liara romances doing the cabin scene right before the SM fits with when other romances usually have their love scenes.

Even if I do the actual mission to take out the Shadow Broker before the SM, I always do the cabin scene after the SM.  This gives Shepard something to come back to.  Then, I'll go and do Arrival.  That one is always last.
