On the Liara comic:

Sylvia, who wrote this one, "You'll see the Hanar homeworld for the first time, the series takes place after Mass Effect 2 when she becomes the Shadow Broker. That's all I want to say without giving away too much"

Edit to add: Seriously, who came up with the idea of making a comic titled "Homeworld" with Liara as the main protagonist about the hanar?

I agree with you there - that image is so not Liara. It really is lamentable that there are virtually no good fanarts of Liara herself or Liara with Shepard on a beach somewhere, simply enjoying themselves - which would be a perfect, natural look into their post-war life and what they could be doing.

Here, Liara is made to specifically pose for the camera in a purposefully sexy manner that doesn't suit her at all. It really is out of character and it doesn't fit. The environment around her is perfect for a fanart showing how much she's enjoying herself there, probably with Shepard by her side, without having them pose artificially like this.

Well, beach ‘Liara’ looks more like Liara than the one in the comics… But, yes…when one does not create, one is at the mercy of those who do!

I’m not quite on board with this purity & innocence stuff, though. Shocking, I know, but complexity is complex.

It's not about 'purity & innocence' at all. There's certainly a way to make Liara sexy and alluring in a render or a fan art without making her pose tastelessly like this - which is something that she just wouldn't do like this, in my opinion. She can be when she wants to be, but if it is kept in-character. Take the scene before Cronos Station, for example, and the way Liara moves towards Shepard just before they have sex - she doesn't show herself off by flashing her breasts or anything, but with her seductive gait.

Mhhh..who know's, if that "Retake Omega" DLC is really coming in the future, there is a good chance she would be a squadmate for that DLC.

I wonder how Aria would fall under Shepard's command by choice, she was a de facto leader for 200 years and asari in position of power tend to act superior towards members of other races. Also, if that happens and she becomes permanet, I hope for some content if she's brought to the KL boss fight -- if you have read Retribution, you'll know why.

I think that fanart is better. The character looks more like Liara and is wearing something that is sexy, without being out of character. Or at least in my opinion. This being the internet, I'm sure someone will disagree.

On a side note, I already thought Liara's Illium pad was cool. But if also had a rooftop pool like this one, it would be off the charts awesome.

I am so jealous of you right now , I have no idea whatsoever I would say to Sylvia or Ali if I ever met either of them but I am sure that there would be a lot of blushing, stammering and overeager compliments involved.

The most fascinating part of this, to me, is the scenery and what Liara is lounging in - I love the setting and view of the city around her, and especially what I like is the water she seems to be relaxing in, and how the lighting effects reflect off of, and play across, her skin.

And her skin has some nice details and textures on it too, that keeps some of that exotic detail shown in ME3, I like that it's not just a flat blue color, but varied.

It's really a very alluring image, and her face and expression actually manages to look like Liara as well.

My one complaint about this is I that I'll always think she looks out of place in a bikini like that - she should honestly just be naked, in a setting like that. A bikini seems ill fitting and like it's trying too hard to turn the image into a pinup or something forced sexy.

I think it's worth commenting on this too - I actually really like it, it's a great image for showing off just how alluring and exotic she can be, and how her skin can shift colors in really pretty ways. That is, I like how her skin has that interesting texture from ME3 as well here, but her skin isn't a flat color - it's a very pretty and deep shade of blue, but it shifts to purples and various shades of blue across her body, and it maintains a very sleek and alluring feel.

I just wish she was somewhere, instead of a white void! So close to being amazing!
