its ok it happened right when i was getting into a groove on the last pieces of my fic, so other than a few day delay as i sort this stuff out/get a new external because this is the fifth time it's crashed on me in 3 years/ and going to see Chelsea and PSG play tomorrow will mean i probably won't have it polished up until after the weekend
Ah ok then, still it's a major pain in the ass when that happens though, hope you'll recover most of your data^_^ Cool enjoy the game, I take it you're a blue fan eh, well I'm a Man City fan myself, both of us had a great season.
All this talk of cake Doozer and Ravii has made me hungry, ain't it pretty:wizard:

And Liara can wash down that yummy cake with this delightful blue concoction, guaranteed to knock you on your ass;)

Yeah I don't like the idea of everyone looking badly dubbed if you use a translator. I'd use the subtitle option instead (I'm guessing you can have your translator to show you text instead of dubbing the voices). I tend to think of Shep speaking the galactic trade language to non-humans when appropriate. I imagine that being functional but maybe a little dull.
I've had to attend meetings where an earpiece was worn so that the German being spoken was translated in my ear. That got to be a pain because you can hear the speaker talk German as someone is translating in your ear. "Would one of you shut up?" I thought more than once as both were speaking.
Text would be better or at least less distracting, although it might not always be advisable.
I imagined my Shepards using the trade tongue whenever possible but in conversations on more personal or in-depth in nature they would rely on the translator, as annoying as that would be. It would probably become less annoying the longer you used it though. Hopefully.
EDIT:
Would the translation be in the speakers voice? Probably not. So you would have Garrus talking and the translator would be a robotic woman. Yep, real annoying.

This "it's a game magic device" translates the words in that person's voice to the closest Shepard word. If it has no translation it leaves it as is or picks one close to what the alien meant ... sorta. This can lead to misunderstandings at times but for the most part it works.
The magic makes it where Shepard only hears one voice in a language (s)he understands. It's a game after all.
EDIT:
What language though? Per codex - Human cultures remain linguistically divided. Some converse in Spanish, others in Mandarin, Arabic, Swahili, etc. Every alien race has their own equally broad panoply of languages and dialects.

Ha I wonder how true this is?Not true for my femshep though:whistle:
True for my FemShep. Kaidan was my choice until Liara appeared in ME1. Thane romance in ME2 is very tempting but Liara is unresistable.
I introduced ME to a friend and he was hooked. I feel a little guilty because I convinced he to play as FemShep in the first game with some excuses, and another Liara fan was born
Now that's underhanded sneakiness I can get on board with, your friend just needed a little guidance, Liara admires your dedication to the biotic brigade, I salute you:D
by FolksNeedHeroes @ DeviantArtLots of fanfics I have read recently have Liara loving to play with Shep's hair, it's quite an exotic thing for her it seems, Shep's not complaining mind:wub:

The Citadel does have a default language for commerce and government. I don't remember if it is ever stated what the origins of the language are, but since the Asari founded the Citadel Council I'd assume the lingua franca for Citadel space would either be an Asari dialect or heavily based on one.
As such Shepard might have had classes in that language both growing up and after joining the Alliance military. It being a part of Alliance military training wouldn't be entirely unheard of, as recruits in the French Foreign Legion aren't required to speak French at enlistment, and are taught the language as part of their training.
I'm not saying that is necessarily the case, but it is at least possible that Shepard is conversing with Liara in either her own language, or in language that isn't her primary dialect but one she is fluent in.
*If* the above is true it might also explain why Tali has an accent, but some Quarians like Kal'Reegar do not. Tali might be speaking the default language of the Citadel, albeit with an accent. Reegar on the other hand may not be fluent, and is speaking a Quarian dialect that is being translated.

EDIT: Han - that is an interesting choice. I prefer the translators with a dash of trade tongue but I could see that working in other players' universes.
I might even use it in one of my non-canon Shepard world. Thanks!

I would totally choose Control if the epilogue was like this:

But no matter which Shepard, I headcanon that only Shepard will ever know what happened up there while the galaxy will only see the outcome. So if EW Shepard had picked control, Liara would have seen the war cease, the reapers helping to rebuild and nothing else. She would miss Shepard but believe that he/she started the crucible and that was the result of it. She would never know about the other choices so ... no judgement or regret.
Just my headcanon though.

I chose control. It wasn't easy. I figured Liara would be sad but would understand because she always seemed to be at the same level as my Shepard when it came to what was the right thing to do and seemed to be the supportive type with whatever Shepard did
As for what she would do in the future.. not really sure. My closest guess is she would work closely with the Reapers in rebuilding and everything
Edit:
OH and for how Liara would know the Reapers are Shepard (if she didn't believe) I would tell her something only Shepard would know.. like mentioning little blue children :]

Nice pic Yuqi, also for a self confessed Renegade to pick control that seemed kinda different since control is a major paragon option and for the ultimate decision of the series it is a big paragon choice, essentially playing nice with the Reapers, we're all friends now lets clean up this mess.

I guess they figured nobody would actually look that closely on the Banshee. And EDI.
