Love Mac Walters makes people—and asari—do strange things.

Fixed that for you ;)

I see it as completely in-character. Hugely risky, yes, but if that’s the only way to bring back the person you love…that’s what you do.

This is still my favorite out of all:

It's not that she's taking huge risks, that's perfectly fine with me. The problem I have is that she's being uncharacteristically hot-headed and stupidly reckless about it, to the point that she has to be repeatedly restrained by Feron from making suicide charges into unsurvivable situations. It's those specific parts that seem very much out of character to me.

edit: bah, shouldn't leave blueless posts on 1800...

If they made a book for Mass Effect or even a CGI kind of movie with all the voice actors and everything they didn't put in the game it would be beautiful.. but wouldn't work because everyone played differently :[ *sigh*

I've always wondered what Liara would look like in CGI. Jack, Garrus, Grunt, Thane, Miranda and Ashley have all gotten the CGI treatment, now if only Liara did. :/

You know what I mean. The fancy, shiny CGI developers use in trailers/films etc.

Ive seen the trailers, did great job on them. Id actually pay to go and see the movie if they would make on like that. Real actors can never beat this. Not for liara anyway. I mean a actor would always look a bit off..... Trailerwise it would still be liara, maybe a little bit different, but still liara. (like ME1 to 3 different)

Or then it's just that you see someone else's Shepard on those scenes and on top of that they're just kind of loose bits of those scenes, so you miss all the atmoshpere, connection, context and all that you had while playing the same scene in-game, the facts that actually made it emotional to you, it's missing all that stuff. And then ofc when combined with a way too cheesy (love)song, yeah, feels too forced and even over-done maybe?

Exactly.

Haha, yeah that's real. They took a doll and repainted it 'Liara style' (or what they thought that is).
It's supposed to be cute and adorable, you know ...

Hmm, the comic's tendency to 'cartoonify' and exagerate certainly plays it's part in that depiction, but personally I wouldn't interpret it as ooc either.

More than once we have seen Liara 'abandoning' reason and logic when she gets overwhelmed by strong (negative) emotions. Particularly since she allways tended to bottle those up and 'hide' behind rational thinking and work instead, I think extreme outbreaks like that are not too unrealistic ...

Another thing that bothers me is when the writers give Liara those corny action one liners, ME1 had that problem with the canned one liners they gave all the squadmember at the start and end of combat, Redemption also had quite a few if I remember and there is the one scenario in ME3 if Garrus is dead where she has one.

Liara saying one liners in battle just feels so jarring, it works for characters like Garrus, but not Liara.

I share some of the same sentiment, but I also usually do not care for character tributes because that the scenes you can take from are rather limited IMO.

I actually liked the redemption comics (after playing LOTSB), but I agree...some of her one-liners were really bad.

I think I understand why they called this place Afterlife is probably my "favorite"

I think they used the "Liara is angry wants to fight Feron says not yet" thing a bit too much. Though I mean in 2/3rds of backstories for Shepard you do something completely and utterly suicidal, the Torfan assault is suicidal and Shepard makes it worse through agression and trying to paint the walls with every single Batarian in the bunker. Elysium is probably the most suicidal since you're taking on a superior force with almost nothing but Militia quality troops in a straight up slugging match.

So maybe a little bit of that rubbed off on her and she feels strongly enough about this to throw reason to the wind. That being said they did a really bad job of writing a rational character behaving irrationally. It wouldn't be as simple as them acting crazy and doing stupid things, more of them digging in on something that much harder or closing up their motives all the more. Instead of wanting to charge them in a spur of the moment fight she'd have a plan to attack the Broker's base and she'd resist any attempt by anyone to alter or deviate from the plan. Closing herself off from any other possibilites and being transfixed by the goal she has in mind.

I want to see Liara in a CGI trailer too. Every characters look great in these ME trailer.

About the comic, I understand her motive, but the way she did it is out of her character IMO. She is supposed to be the one who think before doing.

Seeing the amount of players who dropped ME2 LI, because they 'got less content' really annoys me. (It's like most of them dropped them because there is no sex-scene herp-a-derp.

Does anyone here want to take bets, on how many people will drop Liara,  and run back too the ME2 LI, if there was a romance specific dlc??

I think some people might try out the other romances in other playthroughs, but most would keep Liara as their canon LI. I think it is safe to say that most people who consider themselves fans of Liara, are fans of her not because some other character wasn't on the squad in ME3, but because they like Liara as a character.

That being said, if the writers had never given Liara LotSB and if she had been relegated to a disappointing cameo in ME3 I think you'd have a lot less people who would have her as their Shep's canon LI. And there is nothing wrong with that. A large part of character fandom is derived from the writing and character development, and if a character is getting less of both of course that character is going to have less fans.

Shepard did not read the comic Redemption to know what Liara did or has any clue to what she thinks at the point you meet her on Illium. The first time that I played ME2 it was pretty clear based off the little wheel choices that EW Shepard chose that her relationship with Liara was no longer valid.

It had been two years .. Shepard got that. So when Liara didn't say "Shepard! My love!" *cue the Corrs' Breathless* "Nyxeris, I'm leaving for the rest of the day! Shepard, dump your friends and let's go back to my place!" Well ... there it was. Life goes on.

Liara tells Shepard that she is the one who gave Shepard to Cerberus and screwed it up in the game, she barely escaped with her life and lost a friend for it, you don't need Redemption to know how she did it. And Redemption is out of her character, how could Liara behave so reckless in that comic.
I always do LotSB - SM - Overlord - Arrival.

Liara tells Shepard what she did only if you pick a certain dialogue on the wheel ... a dialogue that EW Shepard never picks so she does not hear that. That is why I said depending on the dialogue choices you make in-game ... Shepard can have no clue about what Liara did or did not do after her death. Shepard not only missed the comic but he/she does not youtube how Liara responds picking different choices on the wheel. Image IPB

@Yuqi ... People dumped the VS and Liara (pre-LotSB) for lack of content in ME2 so it doesn't surprise me.

When did she say that line? Right now I try hard to remember that but can't figure it out. Maybe I overheard that but I don't think so. :?
