Have you ever seen the Samuel L. Shepard? This is so wrong. :D

*sigh* I just don't get why people think Control is such a renegade thing and worse than destroy.
I feel like it depends what you head cannon when it comes to Control.. and everyone is so negative when they head cannon it. Some people just need to admit they want Shepard to live if you ask me..

As for what Liara would choose.. don't know but she has a bit too much of a temper at times for Control to be good. I can just see all the people being beamed for not helping build statues of Shepard on their planet. I see her doing Synthesis.. even though it creeps me out a bit and I don't think I ever got the full understanding of it.. I can't see her saying well destroy is the lesser of evils even if it means destroying synthetics.. she would choose refusal before that in my opinion

I'm guessing the bold part is supposed to be sarcasm? Because if it isn't, I have to wonder just how vain do you think Liara is? :?

I do agree that her emotions sometimes get the better of her, but I also think that she actually shows more restraint than all but the most unrealistically paragon Shepards. So if you argue that Liara choosing Control would be a bad thing, how can you at the same time argue for Shepard choosing it?

As for Synthesis... I explained previously why I don't see her choosing it.

JDee3 wrote...

Now if Shepard does take Control it does depend on if Shep is Paragon (which mine is) or Regenade. In my case the Reapers became guardians of the galaxy defending it and making sure life continues (There is nothing Renegade about this to me.) You also see the Reapers sole purpose change to rebuilding and helping with everything instead of destruction (what ever they were before is irrelevent.)

So, you're basing her choice of Refusal on roleplaying (she doesn't know everyone dies) while simultaneously basing your own decision for Control on meta-gaming (you know everything turns out peachy, at least for the time being, because you saw the epilogue). Sorry, but you're not being very consistent, again.

Liara knows it without a shadow of a doubt. For crying out loud, she’s the primus motor of the entire Crucible scheme! She clearly knows that there’s no way to win  I don’t mean to sound harsh, I’m sorry, I just don’t think any of the characters would seriously entertain Refuse.

I get that a lot of people wish that there was a way for ‘conventional victory’—I kind of do, too, but that’s not the case in the game. They’ll lose, and everybody knows it. They wouldn’t use this half-donkeyed scheme if they thought anything else was possible.

Besides, even if you think that they might win…they’d still lose more people in the fight than they would in Destroy.

As penance:

Like I said not completely sure what Liara would choose and don't get synthesis very much. And control was actually my first choice. Everything that happened in EC and after I chose it was what I expected.. it was kinda straight forward what control would do when they first explained it to me.. and what destroy would do *shrug*

Oh.. and I think Bioware says the epilogue takes care of hundreds of years later which means if you don't see the reapers turn on the galaxy in control.. it's probably cause it doesn't happen..
Only reason I would choose destroy is to see Shepard live.. and if I had a regenade one
..and yes that was sarcasm in my first post for this discussion :]

I think if Bioware were writing it Liara would probably pick Synthesis. Synthesis fits in pretty nicely with Asari beliefs.

This is why I say she would choose Synthesis ultimately.. because I don't think Liara wants to see anyone die at all.. and her controlling the reapers.. idk just eh. But I just remember how she reacted to Thessia falling.. so yeah she knows what the Reapers can do and would never choose refusal

btw @frudi
Synthesis is explained as basically fast forwarding evolution to it's final stage.. it's not "improvements" like the genophage

I really don’t wish to get into a Synthesis discussion. I will state that I view it as 1. completely nonsensical—offensively stupid, in fact—in all aspects, and 2. a morally absolutely horrifying choice, and will say no more of it.

Oh god, my two favorite characters are instead simply just captured and corrupted into banshees!?

Because thats so much better. :crying:

Regarding the end choice, Liara would choose either control or destroy. The appeal of control would be to harness their power and use it for good, much like she took control of the SB network, Liara would control the Reapers and help the galaxy.

But the prospect of controlling the Reapers might be seen as too much of a gamble in her eyes, so she go with destroy. I don't think she will even entertain synthesis or reject.

On a slightly relevant note, I also feel that Liara is the only squadmate that represents control.

That's just because someone at Bioware is misguidedly in love with the idea of Synthesis and wants to shove it down everyone's throat as a utopian ponies and rainbows ending. They're idiots, Wrex should eat them.

Which is utter and complete nonsense, either the Catalyst or whoever wrote his ramblings have no idea how evolution works. Not to mention the EC portrayal of Synthesis directly contradicts that notion.

I think she would choose Destroy or Refuse. I don´t see her thinking of herself as a good template for the Control AI, and about Synthesis... she´s a scientist first, she isn´t going to believe an insane AI when it says it can cause what´s basically a God level miracle.

I think Control and destroy can be both paragon and renegade.

Destroy:
Renegade:  "PAYBACK, jerks!"
Paragon: "These horrors need to be stopped" (And after all it is what shepard has been going for through the whole game, to destroy the reapers)

Control:
Renegade: "MUAHAHAH now i am controlling the uber strong reapers muahahahaha!"
Paragon: "I can make them help the galaxy instead of destroying it"

And bear in mind that you can not use shepard surviving or dying as a argument, since surviving destroy is not certain at the point of choosing.

And i think liara would go for destroy with paragon in mind. Not renegade since she is badass paragon (in my headcanon). Not control since she does not trust herself. But on the other hand i can see her choosing synthesis. Though it will impact everything instead of just the reapers geth and EDI in contrast to destroy. So long story short, Destroy.

I cant see how she would choose refuse. She cant have come this far and then no do anything. Refusal would be the end of all things as she knows it. Not to mention the pain it will bring her imagining all those people dying.

If I picked control I knew I'd definitely die so I said no to that because I had to see my blueberry muffin again. If I picked synthesis I knew I would definitely die and I didn't want to mess with the chromosomes of races I loved so much (after I watched a video to see the outcome I felt that the starchild didn't really explain it well, because in the cutscenes it appeared that organics were only given synthetic upgrades, like upgraded eyes for sight that surpassed what organics could ever achieve through evolution. Not messing with their chromosomes, he made me feel like synthesis was a melting pot and would change all the races.) If I picked destroy I didn't know if I would die or not so I picked it. I also felt that was the most paragon option but now that I think of it my choice was selfish, the way I chose anyways. So I think Control or Synthesis(if it's the way I think it is and not the way the star**** explained it) are the most paragon choices. But commander Shepard has been through a lot and he/her can't be blamed for wanting to see his blue goddess once more! Oh and Anderson was shown picking destroy and TIM was shown picking control so it would be easy to think destroy was paragon, and control renegade.
