Liara didn't have that view until the war. She also said she thought it was sad so many had short lives. I think seeing people she cared about die(Shepard) then seeing all the death caused by the Reapers have changed Liara's view on things.Mumba1511 wrote...
Liara said that having a 1000 year life span can be a bad thing, as you witness so much death.

She was also very young. If the Asari are anything like humans in that regard, she probably didn't think much about mortality until she was faced with it. The war has aged her.
On a side, does this scene remind anyone else of Liara?
Arwen's tragedy
She kind of shares a similar fate as Arwen, though I do think Liara would eventually recover from the grief and find happiness again with someone else. (unlike Arwen)
Oh, and epic monologue is epic.

What would Liara show to Shepard in a meld if they would share one on the Citadel date?
-
The mood is much more "intimate" or "close" than in the actual Citadel date scene. The meld would be an image/memory -sharing kind of meld and it's not about Liara's childhood.
Hmm it's hard to say, I'd kinda like to get a glimpse into her memories at Serrice University or the dangers she encountered on her numerous digs, maybe to see what actual happened between herself and Benezia, how bad were the terms they parted on. Remember when Liara said what do you want me to say Shepard how much I mourned you, how your death nearly destroyed me, would Liara ever show Shep how she retrieved his/her remains or show Shep a glimpse into her life when Shep was dead? The memories would obviously be very distressing and painful to relieve but would she show Shep them to gain a closer bond perhaps, just thinking out loud?

Yep, this has always reminded me of the Liaramance a little bit as well. Not exactly the same, (Arwen will live forever, unlike Liara.) but it's similar enough.

Aside from the fact that Arwen will outlive Aragorn like Liara will outlive Shepard? Nope, no resemblance at all

Also, despite BioWare’s par-for-the-course inability to keep their ducks in a row (enter the 1500-year-old rachni war veteran:mellow:), asari are supposed to live up to a thousand. At an extreme, they’d be overshooting it by <100 years. I don’t think any asari we meet are quite there yet. Around 900, maybe.

Im not sure how the athame old relgion would handle death, but it sounds fitting for that religious concept of what was it... siari? ionno would need to brush up on it.

Again, “sample size”You didn’t tour any asari senior homes. The people you meet in adventures are kinda by definition fairly spry.

Aethyta talk with Liara
Oops, guess I attributed that bit of dialogue to the wrong character. Liara does echo Aethyta's opinions however in ME3, though within the context of the Reaper War.

…Yeah, like I said, that’s just not really date material for me. In that context, it feels like admission of defeat.
For Eevy and Liara, such melding is most natural in those (very few) quiet nights where there’s time to just lay in bed.

Emphasis added. And probably exaggeration…
“Asari have a robust cellular regenerative system. While they do not heal faster than other species, asari are known to reach 1000 years of age.”
Anyway, whatever is your headcanon works. If they remain young and spry until they spontaneously combust the day and hour they were born 1000 Thessian solar cycles ago, so be it!

In ME2 in some playthroughs she had facial markings, I dont know if this was a bug or my game just screwed with me. Now that you mention it, I just compared her face from ME2 and 3 and you are right.

I always did imagine that they do in fact share a meld during the date scene, right after the camera blacks out. But since they just confessed to each other that they want to spend their lives together, I imagine the meld is more about expressing and conveying emotions, not about sharing memories. If there was any imagery, it'd be about hopes for the future together after the war.Arcataye wrote...

One of my favourite and most haunting scenes from the entire LOTR trilogy. And yeah, it came to my mind pretty much every time I've thought about the asari/human lifespan issue.Han Shot First wrote...

At least until I realised that in my headcanon Shepard would actually outlive Liara; I suppose the Arwen scene might still be relevant even in this case, just in reverse

Seeing what Aethyta did in the Shdow broker vids, makes me really want her as a squadmate. It's kinda annoying how she vanishes into thin air after the Cerberus coup.
Didn't she die? After the Cerberus Coup there's talk at Apollo's Cafe about 'losing their bartender.'
Wouldn't be very believable though, I imagine Aethyta would kick the s*** out of any Cerberus trooper trying to kill her.
