Sort of like the egyptians, they made the important people appear more beautiful and taller.

SORT OF.

Well, the imagery in Athame´s temple do resemble the art the ancient Egyptians made: very stylized.

Not sure what a sonic shower is, but I actually have an ultrasonic cleaner sitting right there on the kitchen counter…

And that thing is something entirely different from an (ultra)sonic shower. I'm betting it also still uses water, right? ;)

Of course. Water or some other solvent.

And seriously guys; I leave for a few hours and you go from one silly topic to one that´s even worse??:S
(talking about how you clean scalp crests is still in the same topic as how sweat smells like).

Nah, not really.

Edit: if you do want to ‘go there’, there’s my Intro to Asari for Humans. Which, incidentally, touches slightly on the fringes.

Exactly... the ultrasound's function in an ultrasound cleaner isn't to replace water (as in the theoretical sci-fi ultrasonic shower), but to replace the sponge/cloth/brush/etc. It achieves this by creating microscopic cavities in the solvent, those cavities then collapse with enough force to remove pollutants from the surface that is being cleaned.

Since the principle relies on the formation of cavities in a liquid, it is inapplicable to any theoretical ultrasonic shower. Ultrasonic baths on the other hand... those might provide for an intriguing sensation

The part where you implied people would use something other than showers for personal hygiene? Or the part where current ultrasonic cleaners are supposed to mean ultrasonic showers aren't a total load of bs?

Maybe we're just not understanding what the other is trying to say...

*sigh* Well, at least it can´t be worse than the conversations I seem to get involved with in the story forum:?.
Now, I have also managed to offend some religious nut case with my username:mellow:.
Seriously, I should get a medal for those accomplishments.

Methinks you’re reading in ‘gotcha’ mode.

Like I said, “Despite all the shower scenes etc., cleaning is probably mostly done
ultrasonically or something similar. Even biotically, perhaps.”

I don’t see how you can read that as me advocating a “sonic shower”, whatever it is.

Biotic shower?? Now I shouldn´t want to see how that works.

Anyway, I recon asari uses regurlar water showers too, the PTSD asari certaintly did. Although, that was probably just because that´s the kind of shower the Moreau famliy had:?

I only used the phrase 'sonic shower' because it is already pretty well established in several sci-fi settings. It's actually completely irrelevant what we call it, the point is the whole idea of using ultrasound for personal hygiene is senseless, it simply doesn't work that way.

OK, so you’ve managed to refute your own argument about sonic showers. Congrats, I guess?

But don´t turn the faucet on full power. You risk getting biotec slammed through the tiles & end down with Javik. :P

What is so hard to understand about "ultrasound wouldn't work for personal hygiene"?
The idea is senseless, you might as well say people in the 22nd century would be able to use air for sustenance instead of food.

I don’t understand why you’re being so awfully combative. Perhaps cavitative processes would not work, perhaps they would. Either way, I’ve no interest in continuing this discussion with you. Any discussion, in fact, since this seems to be a trend…

Illitheris and Frudi, I said no mean talk! We got enough of that in the other threads.
