From her dA:

The german localization of Mass Effect is terrible, because every voice actor sounds stiff and lifeless. On top of that they address each other formally. Yes, even if you romance someone, they are still extremely polite. Durr.
If you are not familiar with the German language: There are two ways of addressing someone. One is called "Duzen" and is used in an informal way, like you say "Du" to friends or your family. The second one is called "Siezen" and is the formal address. AND THEY USE THIS ONE IN MASS EFFECT NEARLY ALL THE TIME.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to do this, to have everyone using formal addressing in all circumstances?
Granted, my German is pretty rusty (not that it was ever much better), but my own language also recognises the V-T distinction so I'm well used to it; I can understand that the V-form would be commonly used aboard a military ship and with all the "dignitaries" you deal with in the game, but using it with your LI and bros like Garrus, Wrex, etc? Ugh, I can't even imagine playing with a translation like that, it would totally break immersion. :pinched:

One of the things ME3 got right I think, and not just in regards to Liara and Wrex, is that the squadmates seem to have relationships with each other and not just with Shepard. Tali and Liara also seem quite close if you aren't getting them both tangled up in a love triangle, and I've seen cutscenes on youtube of Liara talking about how Kaidan had been kind to her when she first joined the Normandy.

After Thessia Kaidan also mentions that Liara talked to him about her mother for weeks after Noveria. I think it's safe to say the two of them were pretty close.
In fact, Kaidan is the one person I can see being with Liara, I think that pairing could actually work (in the unthinkable event that Shepard for some reason doesn't fall for Liara first =]). Since BW already decided to ship un-romanced Tali and Garrus I wouldn't mind if they had done the same with Liara and Kaidan *runs away to avoid the inevitable mass of rocks that are about to get thrown this way *

That's why I always Kill Kaidan in ME3.(On the two playthroughs he survived virmire.)

Thanks for the help guys. I should mention I want to kill as many squadmates as possible, so how many do you need alive so Shepard dosn't die? I used to know but it's been too long since I played ME2.

RE:Wrex

I think he might've known Liara's grandfather.

Side note: Why do some people when talking about shepard say 'me'. I just don't get it..

I believe you just need one Loyal squadmate to survive the suicide mission. And make sure you bring them to the proto-reaper.

I would've totally supported a Garrus/Liara romance if neither of them were romanced.

Nothing like a threat of the end of the world for close friends to hook up ;)
One might even argue that had a good deal to do with Shepard and Liara ending up together back in ME1... *ducks just in time to avoid getting a brick in the face* Hey, who threw that?!

Interesting!

Kaidan died on Virmire for me, so I've missed a lot of his dialogue. I do like that the writers have Liara talking about her mother with Kaidan, as it suggests she was mourning her. One of the areas where Mass Effect 1 stumbled was in Liara not having much of an in game reaction to Benezia's death. There should have been a conversation that played out much like the scene in ME3 where Liara is devastated about the fall of Thessia.

I agree about Kaidan.

We had a discussion here awhile back on who Bioware could have made a romance option for Liara in a playthrough where she wasn't with Shep, and Kaidan was my suggestion. Kaidan and Liara both have a fairly similar outlook (pro-Council paragons or paragades), and Kaidan will admit to male Shep in ME1 that he finds Liara attractive.

Kaidan and Liara actually makes a lot more sense than the Tali and Garrus hook up. Garrus was kind of a d--k to Tali in the ME1 elevator conversations, so them being so close in ME3 seems a bit random. I suspect those two were hooked up only because the fans refer to them both as 'Team Dextro.'

Ok, so then you only need 1 loyal squad members, lets say. Zaeed. (for the worst ME3 experience.)

Purchase no ship upgrades.
Bring Zaeed to fight the Oculus.
Send anybody throught the vents.
Send anyone as the fire-team leader
Leave you crew members on their own (have no-one escort them)
anyone as a biotic-specialist
You MUST bring Zaeed with you to fight the reaper (he MUST be loyal) Or you will plummet to your death in the base. (No ME3 import for you)
everyone should be dead. except for you and Zaeed.

I don't know which VS I consider canon. I've saved both of them an equal amount of times,  I think.

I wonder a hypernova is the biggest explosion in the universe and it can be seen in the entire universe. When the crucible explodes you see spots of light in the galaxy, so the blast of the crucible will be seen all over the universe and it will be the biggest blast in the universe before the big bang. How is that even possible?

I have a playthrough where I rescued Kaidan and one where I rescued Ash - I prefer rescuing Kaidan by far, he's a much more interesting and likeable character than Ash is.

Well, Kaidan tended to get vaporised on Virmire in my playthroughs as well. Initially simply because he reminded me too much of Carth. Then, when I switched to playing as femShep, because I'd get ninjamanced simply due to not being a rude ass when talking to him; so I then just tended to ignore him completely and that also made the Virmire choice much easier.

But I did a no-import playthrough of ME3 recently, just to experience the differences, so naturally I also chose to have Kaidan alive for a change. And I have to say he really grew on me, he seemed much better fleshed out in ME3 than Ashley (once they return to the Normandy at least, for the first part of the game they are both basically the same character). He just seemed more real, his character development more natural and sensible. Or maybe it's just because I felt I could relate to him much better than to Ash.
In any case, and with my sincere apologies to her fans, from now on it looks like Ash will be the one babysitting the nuke on Virmire in my future ME1 runs...

Yeah, and Ashley has basically no interactions on the Normandy, romanced or not.

It was Ashley for me of course, but I wouldn't say that I prefer her as a character.I actually liked both Ashley and Kaidan as squadmates, so the Virmire choice for me was never about which character I liked better.

I had Shepard make the decision based on what I thought he would view as the right tactical move. Kaidan was assigned to guard the bomb because he had a tech background whereas Ashley did not. As such he seemed to make more sense as the person to task with making sure that bomb went off as planned. When faced with the choice of either doubling back to save Kaidan or pressing forward to the AA Tower, I had Shepard continue to the AA Tower because I thought Kaidan could be relied on to make sure the bomb went off even if he was overrun, and because the AA Tower presented the best chance for saving the most amount of lives. Besides Ashley, some of Shepard's STG allies were still holding out.

Lucky for you my Opera already has those gifs cached or I'd be throwing curses at you right about now ;). Those gifs are bloody huge, almost 100 MB all together. Maybe we should have a warning in the thread title, don't enter here with anything slower than a 10 Mbps internet connection
