OMG...NO it doesn't lack ZE GERMAN but still pretty funny text. :D

From her dA:

The german localization of Mass Effect is
terrible, because every voice actor sounds stiff and lifeless. On top
of that they address each other formally. Yes, even if you romance
someone, they are still extremely polite. Durr.
If you are not
familiar with the German language: There are two ways of addressing
someone. One is called "Duzen" and is used in an informal way, like you
say "Du" to friends or your family. The second one is called "Siezen"
and is the formal address. AND THEY USE THIS ONE IN MASS EFFECT NEARLY
ALL THE TIME.

EXACTLY THAT is one of the complains I have with the german version it just sucks and it's not the same with the real VA.

Some folks have too high expectations.

You people do realize that Shepard's character needs to naturally be concerned foremost about Earth, because that's something the player audience can relate to. Being annoyed of this fact, means you're missing the point of a basic literary device in story telling.

All Shepards needs to give a sh*t about Earth, even if it might be beyond their established character. It's also something that has no place in this thread so let's get back on topic aka. Liara

Tbh, about the whole Shep and Earth discussion. I was also like WTF? I wanted to say, "let's go and see the council and shizz" But no luck there. :C

I have a nagging feeling that bioware's quote comes in to play.

"Mass effect 3 is the best place to start the trilogy."

Or whatever they said. :C.

P.s
guys and girls, what the hell, I go afk for like an hour and a half and 2 pages have been and gone. Curse you!

But yes now back to Liara.

This is the wrong way to look at it; forcing a mold just as much as BW is.

It’s very possible for a spacer to care deeply about Earth, or an earthling not to. Ergo options should have been offered.

I am deeply sorry that I might look at it the wrong way.
Simply stating that caring that much about Earth doesn't exactly fit even into Bioware's own description of Shepard's backgrounds.

You are looking at it the wrong way if you insist that a spacer couldn’t care about Earth. Fundamentally wrong.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind off-topic discussions on this thread? I mean, 1917 pages?
What else about Liara can be said? The friendly environment is the core reason that I'm permanently on this thread. Proceeded by Liara.

I don't understand why it's so hard to believe that a spacer or a Mindoir Shepard, can't care about THE PLACE WHERE ALL OF HUMANITY BEGAN!

Just drop it guys, and forget about your discontent.

This is not quite correct. For the narrative, there needs to be a reason to converge upon Earth. That reason does not need to be that Shepard cares about it on an emotional level.

It could simply be that it’s the strategically best choice—as it becomes in the end. But the whole story could have been written with the goal explicitly of uniting the galaxy to fight the Reapers (not to ‘take back Earth’), and they could have used the exact same plot progression…

As penalty for off-topic, Liara is very angry:

This one is interesting…it doesn’t really look like Liara (I think this is a Sims mod?), but the clothing study is nice:

Going off topic can be completely fine, as long as it dosen't spiral into stupid arguments, ala. ManShep vs. FemShep, LI vs. LI, ME3 is good vs. bad etc.

And right now, this is exactly what's happening to this thread.

"Take Earth back" sounds pretty catchy aswell. Newer players probably wouldn't have picked the game up if it was "Take Thessia back" lol

A spacer may have needed to wander earth's surface to develop her immune system growing up or something, may have had stayed with and attached to distant relatives, may have made a series of friends and forging of fond memories upon earth's surfance amongst spectacular (and more or less familiar) landscapes.  Theres holes in the starter stories Bioware gave us that you can fill in that could make a spacer care...  but if i was basing it only on what was given, without any exploration of head canon...then yes.  Spacer shouldn't give a crud about earth.

I agree lol - its hte people here, the fact we have liara in common is just a bonus - we're pretty good about avoiding or stemming stupid arguments as spire all ready stated.  And a formality when the dev's are looking *shifty eyes* no off topic here!  Liara stuff!  Lotsa Liara stuff!  All done with that liara stuff there, whats next? Liara stuff!

…Yeah, that’s true. What kind of weirdo would try to play some kind of a role with Shepard?! <_<

…Damnit, I did it again. I guess I gotta pay into the Offtopic Jar.

One thing that really surprises me about ME3 is all the subtle dialog changes in the Shep/Liara relationship depending on your choices, I've run into 3 different dialogs when my Shepard had Liara as LI from ME1, Liara as LI and didn't do or have LotSB or even starting ME3 with no ME1 or 2 input, they all have different dialogs at the plaza and during the love scene.

All this work on just the Liara romance alone although seriously appreciated just makes me sad at the ignominious end to our beloved Sheps.

Anyway, need blue

The whole focus on Earth may go back to the idea that humans are somehow special, that we are the only species "worthy" to be harvested to create a new Reaper. In that context it would make sense that Reapers would initially focus primarily on Earth.

Of course that all went out the windows when someone at BW decided that Reapers are really here to ascend everybody (even the Geth apparently), suddenly humanity doesn't seem all that special after all. The Reapers instead seem to be progressing through the galaxy organically, as the relay network takes them. Earth just happens to be one of their first targets, but Palaven seems to get hit just as early and just as hard and we hear reports of other races' colonies being attacked right from the start of the game.

So no, there really is no strategic reason for the galaxy to focus on taking Earth back. Shepard may be right that the galaxy must unite against the Reapers, but there is no good reason that the focus of the fight should be Earth. Combine that with Shepard (and the player) not even necessarily caring all that much for Earth and it's easy for players to get frustrated and feel like they're not in control of their Shepard.

I think this is actually part of the larger issue of ME3 trying too forcefully to make the player feel... something - you're supposed to feel horrible about Earth, you're supposed to feel sad about the little vent-brat getting fried by the Reaper destroyer, you're supposed to get unnerved by the nightmares, you're supposed to be all best-buds with Garrus and Liara, etc. Sometimes it works or at least isn't too immersion-breaking, but other times it just fails horribly.

edit: just to stay somewhat relevant...

Hmm...not sure. Judging by her comments on Flux's music, it would probably be something more quiet and relaxing. As in, I can't imagine her blasting Dubstep or something.
