@Arcataye ooh new Liara comics coming soon you say...

Awesome totally getting these, I loved Invasion, Redemption was... alright, it had it's moments but nothing special and I thought Evolution was pretty cool. Liara isn't Liara without her cutesy freckles which she is lacking in the comics for some reason.

Wow awesome, but her left eye looks a bit different, than right eye. Good art anyway. ^_^
Is that possible that Liara can become Renegade? Or she is always Paragon? Just wondering.
Sorry for my bad English. :(

I think it looks a bit different for you because of the white dot in her right eye are not the same as the one in the left. ;)

In ME1 she's a text book Paragon pretty much but because of the event of watching Shep get spaced, her attempt at redemption in retrieving Shep's body from the Shadow Broker, taking down the Shadow Broker in ME2 by this period Liara is more or less a Paragade, she has a strong sense of morality but she knows when she has to get her hands dirty too and she's not afaid to make those kind of choices when pushed or when needed. Coming into ME3 still a Paragade, our first interaction with her on Mars when she cooly double-taps those Cerberus goons, pretty badass:D

I prefer paragade Liara (ME2, LotSB & ME3) to paragon Liara (ME1) as well.

They bicker quite a bit during LotSB, both during the car chase scene and when topside on the Shadow Broker's ship.

Neither is a full on argument...but they do snipe at each other.

Also after you defeat Tela Vasir in a paragon interrup IIRC there is an argument between Shepard and Liara:

Shepard: We have time to talk.
Liara: About what?
Shepard: About us!
Liara: I spent two years mourning you.
Shepard: I came back!
Liara: You can't just have two years of mourning go away!

My favorite 'argument' between them is topside on the Shadow Broker ship. Liara says something about the mercs' attacks being disorganized, and saying they'd have better luck if they all attacked at once rather than in waves. Shortly afterwards they do attack in a much bigger wave, and Shepard shouts something like, "You just had to give them ideas, T'Soni!" Posted Image

But even not knowing how that decision plays out (like that first playthrough), there isn't any guarantee that the Geth would be able to disarm the bomb if Kaidan wasn't rescued. While it might be a staple of action movies that the bombs always get disarmed with seconds to spare, the real thing would be much more complicated. There are plenty of examples in warfare of armies successfully blowing bridges when their positions became untenable, even when massively outnumbered and outgunned.

There’s no guarantee that they wouldn’t be able to do it. Actually just battering the hell out of it would be probably be sufficient. This isn’t a bomb made by a madman, either, so it likely has an actual, reasonable off-switch.

The greater risk IMO, is that Kaidan would be forced to trigger the bomb before Shepard, Ashley, the Salarians, and the other two squadmates could be evacuated.

That’s only if you care about the squad more than saving the galaxy, but that’s valid, of course.

That bit was a gamble, but totally in keeping with how I saw Shepard. I viewed him as a commander who was prone to taking risks, rather than one with a leadership style that was more cautious. He was more Julius Caesar than Bernard Montgomery.

I suppose. My Shepards generally take risks to try to succeed, though. The mission is to destroy the facility. Losses are acceptable, not destroying it isn’t.

Mind, I’m not in any way saying that you shouldn’t play it out that way. Just that a military tactician would secure the bomb and risk the squad in the tower.

Hmm, it definitely looks like it can be worthy of a purchase(just for more Liara stuff of course), but Liara's face in the second cover looks off to me.

Much more promising than “Redemption” art, at any rate:

In order to do that they'd have to secure the bomb first, which is a very big if.

Presumably Kaidan could also trigger the bomb by simply pressing a button, which wouldn't be all that hard to do before being overrun. The risk as I see it was never about losing the bomb, but in it having to be triggered prematurely.

It was both about achieving the mission *AND* getting the most people out alive. A combat leader has two priorities. The first is mission accomplishment. The second is troop welfare. While accomplishing the mission is always the first priority, the welfare of the men under your command is also a chief concern. The situation hadn't yet deteriorated to the point where Shepard had to completely discard the second in order to achieve the first.

The game actually bears that point out, because the mission does succeed if Shepard continues on to the AA Tower, with the Salarians and Ashley evacuated. The difference between a smart tactical move and a bad one is success.

Kaidan had the means to trigger the bomb whether or not Shepard doubles back for him. It is no different than a thousand blown bridges in dozens of wars, except for the fact that the people blowing the bridges are usually able to get clear of the blast zone.

No suprise, but I disagree.

I don't believe the situation had yet deteriorated to the point where Shepard had to discard all concern for troop welfare in order to accomplish the mission. Shepard still had a means to trigger the bomb without doubling back, and he was still able to rescue Ashley and the Salarians.

EDIT: Topless AND Off Topic. FAIL!

My risk analysis is based on the worst case scenario, which is a few soldiers dying vs. the entire galaxy. I won’t argue about this topic further, though, you’ll believe what you will instead.

However…

The above is a fallacy. The future is unknown at the time, and cannot be used as justification. (Incidentally, I think a lot of people have simply incorporated this knowledge deeply enough that it’s hard to make a choice without it having an effect.)
