IF they did a movie. In my opinion it should be a CGI movie. Like the Beowulf movie. That way they could use the game faces, and even the same voice actors. Like mentioned above by JDee3.

Also mentioned by JDee3, is having mass effect be a TV series. I like this idea. I think mass effect could lend itself to an episodic format. Also in CGI.

Yeah, I think Mass Effect would work pretty well as a TV series too - maybe it could fill the hole that Firefly being cancelled all those years ago left in my heart...

The TV show idea also gets my vote. The pilot would obviously be finding the prothean ruins on Mars, and it would go from there. An entirely CG TV show would be really expensive, and take a lot of man-hours to create to it'd either be a 5-minute CG thing, or they'd have to use live action.

It would also probably be an online-only thing to begin with. I can't see any TV stations picking it up just yet.

My bet for the film:

Male Earthborn Paragade War Hero - Liara as LI

No matter how the film(s) end up playing out however, they are going to be radically different from the games. Some characters are going to end up cut entirely, as are a lot of the missions.The events of Lair of the Shadow Broker will definitely not make the films, as it is a seperate plot from Mass Effect 2. *If* Liara ends up the LI, she'll probably be a squadmate in the film version of ME2 and the Lair of the Shadow Broker romance scene will occur before the Suicide Mission.

The Shadow Broker may not even be mentioned.

There is actually a rumor floating around that Male Shep and Fem Shep are going to be in the movie as brother and sister, but thankfully not in a reenactment of Luke and Leia.

That being said, the rumor about both of them being in the movie is probably entirely fan generated.

I also believe it is a lack of trust in Hollywood when they decide to adapt a videogame, seriously did you hear David O. Russell's idea for the planned but scrapped Uncharted movie?
And just because Hudson, Muzyka and Zeschuck will serve as executive producers, I don't believe they'll have a single word in the final outcome.

And last I think it is also the dread of the hundreds of people unfamiliar with the games, who'll whine about similiarities with other movies or games, even if Mass Effect came out first. Ignorant individuals will definately say that Liara is a rip-off of the Na'vi, even if she predates Avatar by three years.<_<

Oh, I understand the apprehension about the overall quality of the movie, but several people are actually saying that they don’t want to see it because it’s not their Shepard and/or their choices.

They'll just screw up Liara, it wont be the same character we like. Made by different people with different visions. Also I just can't see it working without CGI and Ali as the voice.
