Ooops, almost overlooked this one...

Frudi is so going to taunt me for this after our little six-page discussion about it a hundred pages back but what the hell:
Liara: "Technically I am not a woman, my species is mono-gendered"
That said you are more than welcome to invite her over, she is the reason we are here after all
I'm not one for taunting, not when I'm not pissed off anyway, so I'll let you off this time

Well, maybe just a little - *points at Akernis for a pathetic attempt at a taunt*
Haha, flipflopper! Will that do? It'll have to, consider yourself taunted

Well, more seriously, since our discussion on this issue I've had a chance to partake in some other somewhat related discussions that have convinced me even more that:
- reducing gender and even sex to a simple binary male/female distinction seems quite inadequate and oversimplified
- disregarding how a person identifies themselves (in terms of gender) comes across as at least disrespectful
So I will continue to put the most stock into what Liara has to say on the issue, which is that asari do not consider themselves women. My
anthropocentric bag of dicksShepard will just have to keep that in mind, she'll have a lot of dealings with the asari and she won't want to make herself seem disrespectful

That said, I have absolutely no problem if everyone else just implicitly headcanons that their asari have no issues whatsoever with being referred to as women. Or if this thread's girl squad recruits Liara into their combat ranks

Now, for dragging this topic back up from a dozen pages ago, here's some blue:
