On-Topic: I agree that there should be a deeper aspect of the relationship for Shepard who've been with Liara and been faithful since ME1. I was just wondering how many people were more recent converts to Liara fan-dom. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked her, but I've never had a Shep who felt like (s)he had a real relationship with the asari.

Hmm I don't know how to answer that really as my Shep only has eyes for Liara. I'd imagine people new to romancing her in ME3 finally realise how deeply she cares for Shepard, her loyalty and love for Shep is quite evident in their quieter moments together and in particular if you take into consideration the lenghts she went through to retrieve Shep's body whilst risking her own life in the process after ME1. She's also compassionate, beautiful, strong and adorkable too so I'd imagine those Shep's more than likely took too many knocks to the head if they haven't noticed all of this until ME3 lol!

After you have done the first hacking mission Liara will talk about the SB. Shepard can ask about the SB did to her and Liara will talk about how the SB caught her friend. She will mention that she has spendt two years hunting after him.

And when that happens pick the "You're obsessed" dialog option.

Shepard: You've spendt two years of your life hunting the shadow broker? Liara that's insane!

Liara does not take it well.

Ah, I remember seeing that dialogue option.  I wanted to be supportive of her/stay on her good side in that scene so I never chose that one.

I've just head cannoned that Liara has always had very strong emotions for Shepard since about mid way through ME1, hince the same dialogue. Given the impact that Shepard has on Liara's life (reuniting her with with Benezia- granted it was in a fight but still-, dropping the prothean/reaper problem right in her lap...all things only possible because she met Shepard) I can easily see her feeling emotionally closer to Shepard as a result. I also use that as justification for why she recover's Shepard's corpse in cannon. It is a lot better (to me) as an explaination than the writters likely ran out of time or some other constraint.

For what it's worth, I'm retconning my fem Shep to romance Liara, and stay faithful throughout ME 2.

Not the kind of assault I was expecting, but thanks.  My first ME 3 playthrough I almost romanced Liara, during our conversation on the citadel, she hinted at becoming more, but I had someone else in mind. I told her 'let's just be friends,' or something like that, and felt really bad about it. As the game progressed, she became my favorite character. My second ME 3 playthrough, we sealed the deal.

I was planning to call it off with a romanced Tali from ME2 in ME3 and romance Liara, but noticed all the dialogue changes if you had romanced her in all 3 games; which I wanted to experience. And since I'm not too keen on using Gibbed's save editor, I started an entirely new playthrough from ME1, just in time for the Leviathan DLC. The tone/smirk she gives when told that being friends doesn't cut it anymore is priceless. "Well, that sounds serious."

Well that was obvious, they'll never approve a singleplayer-only game.
