Yes, Thats sad too. I wish It did not happen. Synthesis plus Shepard still alive would have been cool imo. I very much so wanted Shepard to have a happy life after the Reapers.
But in a way it is easyer to accept , for me, because I was the big hero and expected to have to sacrifice myself for the "greater good" yadda yadda and stuff like that.

I have to agree with ya there.

@shepard1038
Video games: Only two, Mass Effect 3, and (this is gonna sound silly) The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. I was 13 when the game came out, and the ending kinda flew at me from left field. (Why does that sound familiar?) But the scene at the very end with the lone seagull did it, in a happy kind of way. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't played it.
Movies: Ehh, not so much. The last movie to make me cry was Transformers: The Movie, way back in 1986. Only beacause Optimus Prime died, he was my favorite, oh and because I was 6.
ETA: Thanks Ajosraa.

I don't think I did. There's nothing inherently wrong with the hero dying if it's done well (e.g. divine ending in BG)Doesn't anybody care that Shepard gets vaporized in the other endings?
Sure, obviously Shepard surviving is better outcome then Shepard not surviving with everything else unchanged, but that's not really the question.I wish It did not happen

Talk about dueling egos and horrific dancing, it's difficult to watch.
Pretty terrible cover of a good song too.

Oh god, I just looked that up.

Well, speaking of videogames, didn't spent actual tears during the end of Metal Gear Solid 3 (Snake Eater), but I felt quite a punch in the stomach. Metal Gear Solid 4 (Guns of the Patriots) doubled that feeling.
Mass Effect (as a series) gave me a lot of goosebumps, but I think the feelings went off the roof only during the ME2 ending (love scene before the suicide mission + epilogue at the end, with every squad member looking at you) and when Mordin died (that's a no-brainer, I guess).
No tear-inducing Liara moments, but then again, I'm kind of a "casual" Liaramancer so maybe I'm just not that into her.

+1...I totally expected Shepard to die at the end of ME3, and usually I am ok with that sort of thing, but the whole relationship angle just really got to me. I'll admit I also shed my share of man-tears over that (among other things).

How can you say there is nothing wrong, where in two thirds of the endings Shepard dies. And in destroy all we get is a breath scene. Also having the hero die at the end is one of the most cliche things there is.AlexMBrennan wrote...

I can report that the Talimancers are actually kind, civil and helpful.
Whoever posted the picture here agessssss ago with the mod to replace Shepard's character model with Liara and had her hugging Tali in Tali's loyalty mission in ME2 is a genius and may very well have saved my life.
Can't be a hundred percent sure, but I think it was either moreeman or kumquats? I hope you don't mind that I re-used said picture as a payment of tribute when I surrendered myself into the Talimancers' temporary custody.
It was kumquats or some other reg on the thread that knows my love for both girls

that about describes my reaction (i hope that comes across as raucous laughter
as much as i despise rick astley that Reaper roll vid was pretty funny also
on the meld can and can't see debate: I believe that Liara and Shep can both pick and choose memories and feelings to show eachother, either of them being able to see anything they want like flipping through a book just seems wrong. bad example: you and liara just spent a miraculous night together and in the meld she searches through dredging up memories of Shep alone on Akuze, watching his/her family being butchered on mindoir. or Shep dredges up memories of what happened to Liara after he died. instant way to turn a wonderful night into a tear fest. Now I'm not saying that those memories shouldn't be shared but they should be able to choose whether they let eachother view those memories or not. that being said I think that if there is a strong enough trauma in either of their pasts i don't think they would be able to completely hide it from eachother and there would still be a undercurrent of sorrow/guilt/etc... in the meld like a scar. something that might begin to disappear and blend in with the rest through the years but nothing that will ever go away completely

Yeah...I remember my reaction when it was ending: "Wh...what? Shepard died? No...no blue babies for me?"

I don't think cliches are necessarily bad if they're executed well. I can list a lot of games and movies that did it right. A game I'll use as an example is Red Dead Redemption; honestly, that was the only way to end the game while keeping John in-character. Plus, it was foreshadowed many times throughout the game's 19-22 some-odd hour length.
Really, I only find it annoying when the character's death is something along the lines of "OMFG I NEVER MENTIONED THIS BOMB DIDN'T HAVE A REMOTE DETONATOR I HAVE TO STAY BEHIND NOW K?"

Hey, if I was in charge, I'd leave behind blueprints for a weapon of mass destruction for the next cycle, but in reality all it would do is play Rick Astley music.
