Has anybody here cried over a movie or videogame and have you cried in Mass Effect?
Movie, yes. Rarely actually. The most recent : LOTR FOTR, when Gandalf fell at Zha'ha Dum. I didn't read the books so I had no idea then he would be resurrected. I cried when I saw that.

And Frodo's reaction and alot of others in the trilogy. When it ended, yes, I cried.
TV series, yes. Only one thus far. SF tv series B5, quite a number of eps nearly moved me to tears but the ending had me crying thereafter. I followed the story for 5 years and "grew" with all the charcs. When the story ended, I felt I was losing all my dearly beloved friends. To note: I accepted Sheridan's demise, mainly because it was stated how long he had to live. But before he passed beyond the Rim, he had a happy life with his LI, Delenn and they had a son. That's what eased his death even though it still left an ache.
Video games, not really. Closest is April Ryan in The Longest Journey. This is a well developed charc, you know her through her journals, her remarks on people and the things around her and events as they occurred. She was set aside as the protaganist (really stupid imo) in the sequel but that did not detract her importance. The ending was a cliffhanger and I can only hope she finds her way again, be the April Ryan fans knew her. The years had changed her and not for the better.
On ME. I like Shepard but BW's writers, imo, have failed because I am not that deeply involved in the char. I like her and the rest but not to the point I will cry when they kick the bucket. Angry, yes, because there is no satisfying conlusion, whatever there is, is an ungodly mess.
The success of a story is best helmed by one person. Babylon 5 was totally helmed by JMS and he put his foot down when the powers-that-be wanted B5 to be sexed up. He said no and he got his way and told the story he wanted.
TLJ was helmed by one guy, RT. And he told the story he wanted and it succeeded. And LOTR, well, everyone knows who was at the wheel.
