Am i the only one who founds it odd that Liara in the destroy ending, when putting Shepard's name she hesitates and then smiles and in the other endings she puts Shepard's name and she is crying, how does she know Shepard is alive or dead and why does she hesitates in the destroy ending?

Many, many times. Metal Gear Solid 4, Mass Effect 3, and Red Dead Redemption ( just 'sayin. ) were the only ones this gen though.

You really know how to cut to the core of me, Snookie. Never thought I'd cry over a cowboy.

I actually wasn't too broken up about Shepard dying; I was honestly more sad for Liara when he/she died tbh.

Also this.
The feels are coming back.

RE: Crying over media.
A few movie scenes have left me teary, but nothing has affected me so much as Mass Effect. Probably because it's been a five year journey for me and I've become so attatched to the characters, so the fact that it's now all over for good, coupled with such crippling dissatisfaction over the conclusion has had me blubbering like a child, more than once.

RE: Destroy ending.
Its the 'hope' ending. She doesn't 'know', per se, but she's confident enough that she holds off on placing the plaque. And if your EMS was high enough, her suspicions are confirmed.

Morning Aj, even though it's 2:13PM. ^_^
My sleeping pattern is a bit out of whack.

Heh, waking up to Liara is always a good thing. Obviously not in the same was as Shepard does, but at least I don't have to poke my eyes out on her crests, when being the 'big spoon'.

Spooning Liara is hazardous to your health. :P

From all the other ''oddities'' the endings threw at us, Liara's reluctance to hang shepard's name on the wall - was the least of my woes.  Besides people love sappy nonsense.  Emotion aka ''feels'' clouds reasoning - or at least bioware hoped it would.<_<

^People have loved happy love stories since the beginning of time, and still do. Its a major draw of movies, and of all storytelling. I dont see that changing, as it feeds into a need. Even Disney and Pixar know this, and very much so work it towards their advantage even in their most simple stories. Bioware can learn from them.

Though sometimes on the political front I think the Bioware team is very amature...I mean look at their advertising.;P

Also having the hero die at the end is one of the most cliche things there is.

I don't think cliches are necessarily bad if they're executed well. I can list a lot of games and movies that did it right. A game I'll use as an example is Red Dead Redemption; honestly, that was the only way to end the game while keeping John in-character. Plus, it was foreshadowed many times throughout the game's 19-22 some-odd hour length.

Really, I only find it annoying when the character's death is something along the lines of "OMFG I NEVER MENTIONED THIS BOMB DIDN'T HAVE A REMOTE DETONATOR I HAVE TO STAY BEHIND NOW K?"

This is an excellent point. Some stories just really couldn't end any other way. As with RDR, when the protagonist has completed their "mission" and has nothing left at the end, it's quite appropriate for them to die. As you said, Marston just about had to die. Shepard dying wasn't exactly out of left field, but it didn't feel like s/he had to in order to complete the story. And don't get me started about the arbitrary WE ARE ALL WITH YOU UNTIL THE END OH WAIT J/K UNTIL JUST BEFORE THE END SRY LOLZ nature of the climax.

That Shyamalan-ian twist BS at the last minute is what irks me most, no matter what medium we're talking about. :pinched:

And to add to that, John dying did complete John's goal throughout the whole game; to keep his family safe. With him dead, the government would leave his wife and son alone. It was sad, but also fulfilling, and like you and me said, the story really couldn't have ended any other way without going out of Marston's character. It's some pretty deep stuff when you dig into it.

Shepard's just felt...I don't know, random, I guess. I suppose I was expecting it though, BioWare's foreshadowing isn't exactly subtle. Another thing RDR did better...

That game made me cry more than was probably good for me, not just at the end. Even this happy scene here. That music while riding into the sunset to finally return home kicked me right in the feels, man. Especially if you know how things will go down about two hours later... :(

Bah, I'm such a fanboy. Just one of my favorite games ever here....

Argh, goosebumps.
RDR has to be pretty close to a perfect game. The music is just amazing.
Entering Mexico, for example.
And Deadman's Gun, as you posted earlier. Jack Marston exacting revenge was just brilliant.

I blame RDR and ME3 for me not being able to grow a moustache. I can grow a beard, but I feel that crying over videogames has denied me my chance to cultivate a truly magnificent man-stache.

Indeed, kind of sad though that it was almost more of an RPG than ME3, and it wasn't even marketed as such...

And the music was indeed incredible, and fit into the setting perfectly. I mean... bah...

On the subject of Liara and facial hair...that concept has got to be as exotic to an asari as head crests are to us, when you think about it...

Welp, looks like it's time for another RDR playthrough. Soon as I'm done with ME, again.

Also quarians are the only other species with hair, right?
I wonder why evolution was so prejudiced against hair.

RE: crying over movies and games:
I get misty-eyed, sure. Actually shed a tear or two... very rarely, over movies like Shindler's List, Lilja 4-ever, The Killing Fields, Dancer in the Dark, Green Mile...
But then there's Grave of the Fireflies, the one movie during which I completely and utterly lost it :crying:. I honestly don't dare watch it again, because the one time I did I must have cried continuously not just through the whole last part of the movie but also for like an hour afterwards. I can't even think about it without tearing up, like right now writing this :(.

As for Mass Effect, yeah, I did cry a couple of times during ME3. Like during Mordin's bad-ass outro, Thane's dying prayer for Shep or when Liara's flashback came up during the ending.
I wasn't really sad for Shepard when she died, I expected it, thought it was pretty obviously foreshadowed. It was the thought of what her death would do to Liara that really got to me. Yeah, I'm a sucker for a good love story and a tragic ending to one can fit and have a strong emotional impact. But damn it, haven't these two already been through enough to deserve a happy ending? And to make things worse, Shepard's death wasn't some worthy heroic sacrifice, it was a meaningless derp of authorial fiat. Honestly, frack that... <_<

RE: Sad movies.
Has anyone seen the movie 'The Grey'?
It's simple in that it's just a group of people being killed by wolves, but I think it was done really well.
Makes me like Liam Neeson even more than I already did.
While it didn't make me burst into tears, I was pretty close throughout a lot of it.
Especially when this played.

If you want to make me cry, just play a bit of sad piano, and I'm done.

Apologies for off-topicness.

My mum likes to think that he managed to kill all of the wolves.
She is a master of headcanon. I could probably learn lots from her if I asked.

Sure it's odd, but then again nothing after and including Hackett's withdrawal order really makes much sense anyway. Just consider it symbolic and enjoy the feels, then headcanon over it with something less senseless.

More so than Morgan Freeman?
I'm glad that is a decision I don't have to make.

EDIT:
Although, if I had the option for Ali Hillis to read me a story well.. Morgan and Liam can take a hike. ;)
