The one thing that I see regarding Ash and Liara is that they both generate alot of hate on the BSN. There is always a "Ash must die after Horizon" or a "Why couldn't I kill Liara?" Or "Ash is a racist" or "Liara is a stalker" and so on. Its a shame since in my gameplay my Shepard(s) cares about all his/her teammates.

Why do people call Liara a stalker? Where did it originate from? Does anyone know? Because I keep encountering it on the forums, and I'm really curious.
Some never talked to her in ME1. Or were very rude to her. Like you can with Tali, Garrus, Wrex, Ash, or Kaidan.laecraft wrote...

People calling Liara a stalker had nothing to do with her being the Shadow Broker.MACharlie1 wrote...

I've never called her a stalker - that was just my guess on why someone would.ladyvader wrote...

I been on that thread enough to know why those people call her that. But I don't see Liara as a stalker. She is someone that cares deeply for her friends. I really don't think she has that many. Which is another reason I feel she wanted to save Feron. Besides wanting to repay the debt to him for helping her get away with Shepard's corpse.MACharlie1 wrote...

I see, ladyvader, because she helped Cerberus to retrieve Shepard's body from the Collectors? Thank you. I still fail to see how it makes her a stalker, though, but all right.
I don't see it either. But there are those that want to kill Liara off the first chance they get in ME3.laecraft wrote...

Why are people not complaining about Joker's plot armor?
Joker never riped pieces off of Shepard's cold, dead corpse and put them on display in his apartment. {smilie}

I actually support them getting together if Shepard never romances her. I think they'd make a great couple. So I support both friendship and relationship.

Should have used a flamesheild. NOW BURN HERETIC!!!
OT: My first post in this thread. I can never play Mass Effect and NOT romance Liara. There's really nothing more to say I guess.

Liara is, throughout the series kind to and concerned about Shepard's well being and happiness regardless of how Shepard treats her. Those who, for whatever odd reason, do not like Liara interpret her kindness and concern as stalking. If however you like or have interest in Liara then her actions can be interpreted as her part in a developing relationship. As far as my Shepard is concerned considering how often Shepard visited Liara, stalker would likely be a more accurate term for Shepard than for Liara. I'm just glad she liked the attention

Well, I mean, it's a legitimate way to interpret what happened.Though I usually default to sarcasm and humour on this subject, I like to think that at the core, I have a legitimate concern.
If you're actually curious, I can try to explain why I see Liara as a "stalker" as calmly and rationally as I can. I love a good debate (obviously--I've been on supporting the same-sex forum for ages) and if you guys would like to talk about it rationally, I'd love to give it a try!
Or, I can just bugger off. That's fine, too! I just saw that I was quoted here, and wanted to offer my actual point of view.

Ah, I see. So it's also because of this linearity thing. The characters from ME1 will always treat you as friends, no matter how you treated them before, and no matter if you liked them or not, so some people find it jarring. It's just stronger with Liara because she actually does something for you. And she does it no matter what, because it's part of the plot.
So people calling her a stalker is actually the players being resentful for the control taken out of their hands. And it's an attempt to get back at the character for depriving their game of interactivity.
It's starting to make sense.

Well, I was just wondering where that stalker thing was coming from.I haven't been on the forums long enough to know. So I just asked. I thought there was something I missed between the comic or the game, or maybe some kind of deep insight into Liara's character, or a scene that could possibly interpreted as such.
