I haven't tried that, but I'm guessing probably not. I think Liara only comments if the relationship is either continued or broken off in ME3. IIRC she doesn't comment if Shepard breaks a relationship off with someone in ME2, so I'm guessing the same would hold true if a ME2 LI died during the Suicide Mission.

On a side note, it isn't cheating. But I'm beating a dead horse. lol

Furthermore Jessica Merizan apparently told one fan that Synthesis will eventually occur in the Mass Effect universe regardless of whether or not Shepard is the agent that brings it about. If her take on Synthesis is in line with how the writers view it, Synthesis is an inevitability for the ME universe.

It is possible that the next Mass Effect game could be set during Liara's lifetime, and if Synthesis occurs between games (for those that didn't choose it), Liara could end up partially synthetic regardless of whether or not your Shepard chose Synthesis.

How would you feel about cyborg Liara, or ME4 in general if Synthesis has occured?

I'm not sure I'd be interested in ME4 if Synthesis is canon.

Synthesis in ME isn't just a case of organics with mechanical limbs or implants, but organics that have somehow been completely (and magically) altered to be partially synthetic at the genetic level. That means that their brains, the organs which determine their personalities, have also been altered to be partially synthetic. This raises the question of whether altered people are even the same entities. Is cyborg Liara even Liara anymore? Would the Asari even exist anymore?

I say no.

Liara would no longer be Liara, and the Asari as we knew them would be as dead as if the Reapers had succeeded. The Asari would be gone and replaced by a partially synthetic other.

I would be gone forever if they go that way. I don't see how they can make any ending canon without losing at least 1/3 of their fanbase.

Agreed, I hate the very idea of Synthesis, and even more the idea of Liara being synthesised, or whatever you call it. One of the great things about Mass Effect is the choices so if they make a canon (or what for all intents and purposes is one) is as bad as making a canon gender, LI and paragon/renegade alignment for Shepard.

I usually never say that "if X happens or if Y is not there then I won't buy the game" but I really think that they made Synthesis canon and if Liara is there all glowing cyborg-like and without Shepard I would not be able to play the game

Pretty much all of this. I don't think I'd be able to deal with a synthesised Liara. It just wouldn't be her.

Well if they go the route Jessica Merizan suggested, it wouldn't necessarily be that Destroy or Control were rendered non-canon. Just that the civilizations of the galaxy decide to become partially synthetic on their own at some point after Destroy or Control.
