Cringeworthy? Yep, you can say so. I was facepalming and/or cringing the whole time on Illium during my first playthrough.Robhuzz wrote...
Liara's Illium cameo is at times cringeworthy but she does care about the relationship. She kisses Shepard but then breaks it off because she has other things on her mind, that doesn't mean she doesn't care about the relationship. She's obsessed over the Shadow Broker and only after the old SB lies dead does her obsession end. I will not allow her to become obsessed with the SB data in ME3 either, that base and all of it's data is a goner as far as I'm concerned. Naturally I'll make sure Liara is off the ship when it goes down. Come on Cerberus, attack that ship, you know you want to...
I thought that Bioware completely butchered her character.
And how does a kiss fix everything? She breaks it off, nods, then sits down, forgets it and never mentions the relationship again. That's lovely.
She's so obsessed to kill the SB that she doesn't even care whether Shepard dies on the suicide mission or not.
She doesn't care about the mission in her Illium cameo. That was resolved in Lotsb. - "So if we're going to try this, I need to know you're always coming back" - Honestly basing your opinions solely on her Illium cameo gives you the wrong image. The idea was always to have her SB thing resolved in a DLC. This is also why her cameo is so incredibly unsatifsying to those who romanced Liara. Without Lotsb, the image is not complete. So instead of basing your opinions on the Illium cameo, base them on both the cameo AND Lotsb. Only then will you get a good picture of the 'new' Liara.
