Just want to share with fellow 'mancers,

Is Liara like, supposed to be the something like the canon LI? Or does she just worship you as a great Hero? Because even if you don't romance her (WHAT?!) in ME3 and you just talk to her a bit, she still gives you the "Gift" but instead she doesn't kiss Shepard, she hugs him in a very... affectionate way. I mean, she's the only person who actually tried to find your body and revive it. And pre-EC, when you stayed single through out the entire series, Liara's face comes up as a flashback, as it comes up as she is a romanced character.

I don't believe Liara is the 'canon LI' like some do, but I do believe she cares deeply about Shepard regardless of whether or not you romanced her. On the non-Liaramancing playthroughs I've done her and Shepard's relationship has always hit me as a 'really good friends that could have developed into more but never did.' sort of deal. You don't always have to be lovers to show affection.

Some may argue this friendship is kind of forced, sure, but so is Garrus'.

Well..If any of the romances HAD to be considered canon...I would have to pick Liara.

To me it just seems to fit the best with the rest of the story, that Liara is Shepard's LI.

Well, if the person genuinely dislikes her character that's fine by me, but I find most of the hate these days is more 'my favorite didn't get enough screentime, let's hate on someone who got more!'

Demanding for an option to kill her is just messed up though. I don't like Miranda very much, but I have no desire to kill her.

Because she is a character which has gotten a lot of "Special Smexy" time. Her own DLC, the best romance scene in ME3, the final goodbye, her forced relationship and her being the Writer's pet.

Well No I don't think she deserves the "Hate", but I guess I do understand some of it. Some ofc want to see their favorite character from ME2 instead.

I asked my real life friend who is also a Mass Effect fan, who romanced Ashley, what he thought about Liara in that regard. Hes not exactly a Liara fan, but does not dislike her either. He just said that some parts seemed like Liara was a little more close with his character then what he expected, and that sometimes it felt a little awkward. But thats mostly it.

Im not really sure why some others seem to have a seething hate though. Its like Liara represents something that they hate. Maybe its just as plain as personality conflicts at that point.

Also, Maybe because her relationship in the game has its Ups and Downs, and you had to be patient with her in ME2. Maybe that made some people angry at her.

I dont know..."Liara" is almost a pet name in itself because its so short.

Though I have at times called her "Babe" or  "Li Li".

Ofc "blue" is a good one also.

I would also have to tease her a lot about Blueberrys in many forms; Like "My little blueberry"...but its mostly if Shepard was being silly.
