Garrus is the only popular LI that hasn't also had a vocal 'hate' club, but he is also male.

My personal theory for why Garrus is largely escaped unscathed is that the average is hater is probably a teenaged male, and the motivations behind the bashing of female LIs are equal parts jealousy over content given to 'rival' LIs and expressions of plain old fashioned misogyny.
