I'm not sure I mind beefing up some of the men. I'd actually prefer if they beefed up some of the women, especially Shepard's upper body (shoulders and arms). In a military setting, it makes sense. They do train and work out regularly. The problem, rather, is the over-use of said templates/models. Does it make sense for someone like Joker, with brittle bones, to be muscular like Sheploo? No. Variety is the key to any sort of realism.
I loathed the hussy'd up Ashley in ME3. The make-up, the boob-job, the collagen lips, the mini-skirt armour, etc. Her pink armour in ME1 was bad enough, but at least they had the common sense not to make her look like a bandy-legged tralk (if you pardon the Farscapism). Nevermind the fact that they made Ash an emotional basketcase, incapable of decisive action post-Priority: Mars. We were lucky they didn't do the same thing to Liara.
The gaming industry really needs to address how they depict/demean women this way. Even movies have progressed past these poor stereotypes. In games, it's fubiquitous.
I wonder if I could commission a modder to work on a more modest looking Liara. Hrmm. I might look into that. I'm willing to bet the problem is in the model itself though.
I gotta disagree on that one. Female roles in modern action & horror films (Hollywood) are more dumbed down then the inventory system in ME2.
It´s alway the same sh*t! Big boobs, skinny as a broomstick, black belt in something, max age 25 years old (anything over is considered too old), using guns that are bigger then their own arm and of couse a flat ass.
In my opinion, the best potrayed WOMAN is still Ellen Ripley by Sigourney Weaver in Alien & Aliens. And the first movie came out way back in 1979... I REPEAT 1979!!! And she still hasn´t been topped yet. Jolie as Lara Croft my ass!

Ripley with her crew in Alien. classy & beautiful tall amazonian woman with a perm instead of the usual weave haircut.

Ripley in Aliens. Now evolved into motherhood & protector. That picture has more symbolism then all the movie posters from the last 10 years...
Femshep was definitely an idea that sprung from the Ripley character. No. Doubt. About. It!
