Liara being all shy is adorable.  ^_^

Why yes... yes, she is :) I think one reason why I like her ME3 iteration so much is because Bioware managed to strike the perfect balance between her being shy and authoritative. She can be bad ass, but also vulnerable.

Also, thanks for new material, I haven't had those gifs yet.

I loved Liara in ME3, a vast improvement from ME1's character writing where all the Alien squadmates were obviously written with the intent of introducing the new races, in the last two games they grew on me quickly.  ^_^

Thank you but i didn't ask for your sarcasm .

Actually, your silly comment basically was practically begging for a sarcastic response. Besides, this entire game is fictional, and so what you're saying should, by the same token, apply to ALL of us posting about Mass Effect at all, yes?

Oh wait, people like to have hobbies, which may include fictional universes, stories, and characters in books, movies, and video games?

Imagine that!

Yeah, ME squadmates were mainly exposition machines. That's not to say I didn't like most of them and Liara's shyness and awkwardness was just endearing and what made me like her in the first place. But I really like her character growth in the second game and the third game struck the balance and made her into the best character in the trilogy.

A story, to go along with those gifs of your :D It's a short one, but worthy of a chuckle.

For the fans who post here, what was your favorite scene involving Liara in the series?

ME1: Shepard: Sounds like you want to dissect me in a lab somewhere.

Liara: What? N-no, I uh, I simply meant you would be an interesting subject for an in depth study, oh no, that's even worse!

ME2: The old married couple bickering during the taxi cab chase, and when you've just defeated the shadow broker and you hug her + kiss her.

ME3: Ugh this is hard because they're all great, but I'd have to say when you get a moments peace in your cabin staring up at the stars. Hand holding, sweet little kisses and gentle lovingness wins out, with the memory sharing before the final battle at London being a very close second, and Liara confronting Javik after the fall of Thessia coming in third.

My favorite scene with Liara is probably the time capsule scene, though the gift in London would be a close second.

Any idea why Bioware didn't keep it in the game? My guess, if I was to give one, is probably to have a balance with each class all the way to the end. A biotic, tech and soldier.

I think that is as good a guess as any. It is hard to say though, because there was quite a bit that changed from the original script.

I wish they would have kept it in, except rewriting it and shifting it to be part of a suicide mission end run.

Thessia and the coup were changed signifigantly in many ways and, most importantly, Javik's role went from being integral to the plot to DLC friendly unimportance. I think that was the reason for most changes...they decided to make Javik a DLC character. For example, Kai Leng and the VS were supposed to kidnap Javik on Thessia.

Wait, wait, wait. Why would VS help kidnap Javik? Did they blame it on indoctrination again?

Kai Leng tricked the VS into thinking you were with Cerberus and he was using them to track you, iirc.

Wow. The longer I'm around here, the more things I never knew I learn. Is there a log or something similar of what has been cut from the game?

Or would that be just a bad idea? :)

I don't know if the script is still available online somewhere...maybe some old threads?

I've never seen the full script but have read bits and pieces that were quoted here and there in old threads.

One of the differences that should be mentioned in this thread is that there was more direct involvement with Liara being Shadow Broker. Originally it was Liara's Shadow Broker resources that would track Kai Leng to Sanctuary, but in the shipped game that scene had been rewritten for Traynor.

I kind of have mixed feelings about that. Traynor turned out to be an interesting character and I was glad they gave her more to do than Kelly Chambers, but on the other hand Liara's status as Shadow Broker in the shipped game was under-utilized. Perhaps it would have made more sense to have kept that scene as originally written, and instead have drafted original content for Traynor. If dialogue budgets were an issue, Allers could have ended up on the cutting room floor to make room.

My dislike for Traynor is pretty well known. So, to know she got more screen time on Liara's expense, well... it certainly doesn't make me like her any more. I'm happy that she got to contribute more than Kelly, but as we stand, I will always maintain that her role was too big.

I'd be quite happy if she got more screen time of her own, with original content, but as it is... well, lets not dwell on it :) I like ME and I still think the third game is the best in the series and nothing will change that. But the more I learn, the more I wish the guys at Bioware would take a year or two more and polish the game up, so we could get it great, instead of just adequate.

I love the one in ME3 when in her cabin she sits in your lap and kisses you briefly.  I really like that one for some reason, maybe because it's intimate and sweet.  Short and sweet.

But my favourite will always be ME2 LotSB, when you rekindle your love with Liara. The "lots of little blue children" scene.

So I know Liara's dialogue in the time capsule scene varies a little on Shepard's alignment. She mentioned my paragon Shepard was always looking to make peace whenever she could(or something along those lines) and that Shepard made decisions she(Liara) didn't agree with, but respected them anyway for my paragades and renegon.

Is there a third variation, for total renegades? And what does she say in that case? I doubt I'll ever go full renegade, I just can't bring myself to do that. But I am interested.

I think pure renegades also get the "respect" line. I never saw any other version on youtube, only paragon or renegade.

The "disagree but respect" line is for renegade. The neutral line goes something like "She was a leader who knew when to be persuasive and when to apply pressure."
