My post about the Ukelele.
My post about the Ukelele.
Oh right, I cared, because I even looked up the difference between a banjo and a Ukelele and I still got it wrong, shows you how much effort I put into that search
I love most of the things about Liara's progression from 1-3; that said there are some things I hate. But my one burning question about her is: Why does she have scales in ME3 - and why is she the only Asari who has them?!?!?!
I didn't really find her all that attractive in ME1 the way her blue skin clashed with those pink lips turned me off; the facts that she was basically a child to her own people and she thought that even the most Renegade of conversation options meant you were hitting on her didn't help. Then it's ME2, two years have passed, but she looks exactly the same. Then an undetermined amount of time progresses you talk to her about hitting the Shadow Broker where he/she/it lives and she's still the same. After another undetermined amount of time she's, for all intents and purposes, grown up and reached (to me) the pinnacle of her appearance; blue skin + red lips = much more attractive.
But then ME3 came and Liara's got the improved appearance from Lair of the Shadow Broker, but now suddenly has scales too? Granted, this didn't detract from finding her attractive, but why?
She's also the only asari that has brows

Well My answer to the scales part would be, she was always meant to have them as are all Asari, however in ME1 because of the limited graphical support of the engine that was used to create the game there was very little detail add into anything, however you can see that her "head tentacles" (sorry but i forgot what they're actually called, and the only thing i remember is what joker calls them) did have texturing, scales in other words -

In ME2 she also has these scales, however with the advanced graphical support they are made clearer and in my opinion you can see them on her face as well -

And in ME3 they have even more detail added to them so that they are now clearly visible -

And as for the other Asari not having them -

I'd say that Tevos does, however only on her "tentacles", I'm not sure if this is because I'm mistaken in believing that all Asari should have them or whether Bioware got lazy and so only gave Liara's face the detail need to show the scales. The later is probably the more plausible reason (I'd like to think) as I would guess they didn't bother spend time and therefore resources adding in detail to the parts of the game that you barely see. IE Tevos' face, you barely see it for longer than a few seconds at a time and when you do it's rarely a close up, apart from this screen shot right at the beginning and and the part after the Citadel 2 mission where you speak to her in Udina's office, I don't think you ever see her face this close, and so logically Bioware, wouldn't add as much detail to her model as they did Liara's. She therefore doesn't have the scales that Liara does.
Just what I think.
Look closer. Tevos' skin also has that same pebbly appearance. Then look at Rila and Falere and just about any other asari.
Yes, the entire race is like that. You know. Alien.
Well I just figured out how to use Texmod..... Hehehe Nexus here I come

Bah, mustard race with your fancy mods and better graphics and faster loading times... give me a good joystick and we're cool
No, I'm not jelly at all!
On subject of Liara's(and asari in general) scales... I get the feeling that pretty much every alien species in ME universe was modeled after an animal species of Earth. Turians after birds, krogan after lizards, salarians after amphibians and it is my belief that asari have piscine origin(which, incidentally, gives a new meaning to the saying "there are a lot of good fish in the sea"
). As such, I think their scales are a way to reflect that and I also believe they are much different from the scales krogan and turians have, for example.
I may be weird(scratch that, I know I'm weird
), but I don't find Liara any less attractive because of her scales. If anything, I find her more sexy because of it ![]()

There's a Vid by Gamestop that Called "What Mass Effect Taught Us About Aliens" It's about 8 mins long and very intersesting and qute relevant to the whole Alien evolution thing we're talking about (I'll try the link here)

So not jelly are you? how about a 2 second load time and a 5 second complete boot up time for my PC. also I've got numerous screenshots of Liara in some "New" armour. seen as I've found out how to use texmod, I haven't stopped spamming F12 to get as manny nice screen shots as possible.
As for the scales she definitely looks sexier with them rather than without.

Also this is one of the "new" armours she has found herself wearing, I'm going to "spoiler" it just to be safe as it is a little reviling also Mordokai Might get jealous and/or creeped out at how Liara is now walking around in a Rachni nest with this on
Notice the conveniently place N7 hurricane?

Damn I want that armour for my Liara. Although I'd probably get killed more often during missions from being .. distracted by her.
Well, more than usual that is. ![]()
And here I am going against the flow making more regular clothing while others are...uh..removing parts of Liara's gear
*Picture*
Yeah well, it was just an example of what has happened to Liara on the Nexus. (although I'm not complaining
) and if you created that It's very nice, download link?

I notice that my K/D ratio when down after Liara started wearing this, I'm not sure if it's more unhealthy Her of Shep ![]()
Also Sorry for the late replies, I've had no internet for the past 3 days and so I've decided to cap this to say sorry. Also I have to say 1) it was very well timed on my behalf and 2) High Res is the Best Res, I never thought that just having a high res suit could make Liara look so much better

Thanks I haven't released Liara's uniform yet. I'm trying to figure out how to turn meshes into .mod files that would be easier to install.

fair enough, to be honest I much prefer using texmod and just loading the TPF files. But then again I'm skrub and so haven't been able to figure out how to use texplorer and .mod files without braking ME so am I missing out on something by not being able to use .mods?

Some people prefer to use .mod files since it lets them usually skip using Texmod which can be a bit of a fps hog, and buggy. I haven't personally had many issues with Texmod. But Liara's uniform will require changing a few files with the new mesh since she doesn't have that outfit by default.

Ok then, I might have to look into how to use and and install .mod files properly then. Thanks!
Interesting vid.
Speaking of evolution, the Asari must have evolved as land-based persistence hunters since their bodies are nearly identical to humans.
Although we tend to think of humans as being relatively weak compared to much of the animal kingdom, we actually are perfectly designed by nature to chase prey down over long distances on open grasslands. While many species may be stronger or have sharper teeth or claws, no land-based species rivals humans for sheer endurance, and those that come close (like wolves or wild dogs) employ similar hunting strategies.
If the Asari had any aquatic origins at all it would be extremely distant, much like our own. Their more recent evolutionary ancestors would have had to have been land-based, and they would have to be have been land-based persistence hunters early in their Stone Age.
It was probably the Protheans who hauled them out of the primordial ocean ![]()

You should probably see a doctor about that. ![]()
Some great discussion and I'll endeavor to post something constructive down the line. For now, however, I'll just leave this here.

Damn, I so wish something like that could happen in the game ![]()
Out of interest, am I the only one that turns the in game music all the way down and listens to some of my own music when you go back to earth?
*Whoosh*
Did you see that? That was my innocence. It's gone.
All dem nipples.
ok I have an honest question. I dont know if this was posted in the past but why do you romance liara? I have tried in the past and I just cant do it for some reason but what makes here your number 1 all time favorite LI in the series. I just want to know people opinion on it. also I figured I would give all of us here a topic to talk about at least for a little bit ha ha ![]()
