Should I create Ashley Williams haters thread?I've started new playthrough but deeper I go

into the game the more I hate her.

First it was about "aliens and animals" and then in the elevator she says to Tali:you look like a Geth.

WTF??Does she ever think before saying something??

The only reason I was suffering her presence because my shep is biotic and I needed heavy armor soldier

in the team. But this is too much!!!

Go ahead, I dislike/hate her as well, she strikes me a rather xenophobic and in a universe full of aliens were the humans have alien allies I find it rather annoying and irritating for people to still either be scared/disapproving/disliking of aliens. She is very set in her ways and extremely straight laced  I find her to be just an all out irritating person, that coupled with the fact she really doesn't seem to 'look before she leaps' so to say means she dies everytime on virmire without a second thought or a look over the shoulder.

I'll probably jump on the band wagon if you do create and Ash hate thread, although it is entirely your decision. As much as I usually just stay bunkered down here I know that there are quite a few Liara hate threads and so making an Ash one would probably just cause more Liara hate threads, personally not bothered about peoples opinions unless they affect people so if you want to make a thread about hating Ash I'll join in if other people want to make a thread about hating Liara let them just grab a pair of what plastic spoons and put on your hater blockers  :P

I would suggest against that course of action. While I myself have little love spared for Ashley, I'm pretty sure it's against some rules to post threads like that. Besides, do that and it's only a question of time before somebody of her fans makes a Liara hate thread. And I've seen enough of those to last me a lifetime.

Just let it go, would be my advice.

Never mind (Is there a way to delete posts?)

You can hide it, but not delete it, me thinks. Only mods can probably do that.

does hiding posts hide them from everyone or just me? because I was under the impression from the little bit of text that it gives you when you'r about to hide a post that it only hides it for me (the creator of it) and so that would render it pointless in hiding it

From what I understand, only the mods can see the post you hid. Otherwise, the Hide function would be... kinda pointless.

Then hiding it makes it invisible to everyone other than moderators. I posted two in a row and hid the second :)

she dies everytime on virmire without a second thought or a look over the shoulder.

While I personally prefer Kaidan's character to Ashley's, in my canon Ashley survives Virmire because I like that she's flawed in the way she is. It means my Paragon Alien-loving Liaromancing Shep has someone to develop their character with.

On that note, I was a little disappointed that in ME3 there was no mention of the relationship between Liara and Ash/Kaidan, as in ME1 I found the jealousy between them to be deliciously exciting. Seeing them object to the Joining segments from the ME1 debriefs made me feel like I was leading a team of humans, rather than a team of absolutely loyal death machines. I would have liked to see them come to some conclusion with that. Ah well.

In a completely unrelated note, I suspect this question has been asked thousands of times on this thread, but what are all y'all favourite Liara/Shepard scenes? Other than all of the Shadow Broker scenes, the hopeful melancholy of the end scenes from ME3 broke my heart.

"It would be easy for a single ship to get lost up there... wouldn't it?"

"Yeah. It would."

"To find some place very far away, where you could spend the rest of your life in peace... and happiness."

NO. GOD NO. My heart  :(

No way am I letting Shepard die after that scene.

Ashley's not xenophobic. She's not afraid of aliens.

She's human-centric. Which is not surprising and a common thing; all the ME races primarily look out for their own interests. Even the Asari, who do seem to appreciate other races more due to the exogamous nature of their reproduction, look out primarily (on a governmental level) for themselves.

Cerberus, as an organization, IS xenophobic. They are afraid of aliens to the point that they want to push themselves above all the other races and dominate them militarily, politically, financially, and culturally.

Ok yeah I admit that she might not be xenophobic, but she definitely isn't just 'human-centric', She says 'you tell me to kiss a turian, I'll ask which cheek' - she says this as if it's a punishment, I understand that 1) turians might not be the most attractive aliens in the galaxy and 2) people don't want to kiss others that they don't know, but they way she says this as if it's a punishment that she's being forced to do something that is negative, because Turians are aliens, is what makes me think that she isn't just Human-centric.

She's patriotic, I get that, but when she is only working with aliens because Shep/her superiors are forcing her to, rather than going out there and just working with aliens because she can and because they're there to work with and more importantly they're humanities allies, is what causes me to think that if she saw an alien in the street needing help she wouldn't help it, whereas if it was a Human that needed the help she would jump at the opportunity. I don't like Ash because of her disliking and her distrusting of aliens if Liara, Garrus, Wrex and Tali, were all humans that Shep picked up/rescued/recruited  I bet she would have a problem and that she wouldn't tell Shep that she was afraid of them sneaking around and stealing Alliance tech, but because they're not humans she doesn't trust them, not because they're strangers, because they're aliens. I'm not saying that everybody should trust everyone in a galaxy like the ME one, but when someone actively questions their superiors because some people he/she is working with are aliens then I have a problem with them because of the fact that she isn't at least giving the Aliens time to show themselves and/or to get to know them, Ash is just out right, 'nope, Liara's Asari, I don't trust her' rather than 'you know, Liara's not human, she might be here to try and steal our tech, but I'll get to know her, to she what she's like, so that I can see who she is as a person, then I'll make a judgment on whether to talk to shep about if he/she should be letting Liara stay and whether she's here to steal out tech' If that was Ash's outlook on Aliens I'd like her/like her more, but because she isn't, I don't.

Since I romance Liara this is a personal insult to me.

I hate her.Can I shoot her myself?

Ashley had always served groundside, presumably with human-only teams. I don't think she's ever been around other species much before joining the Normandy.

'nope, Liara's Asari, I don't trust her' rather than 'you know, Liara's not human, she might be here to try and steal our tech, but I'll get to know her, to she what she's like, so that I can see who she is as a person, then I'll make a judgment on whether to talk to shep about if he/she should be letting Liara stay and whether she's here to steal out tech' If that was Ash's outlook on Aliens I'd like her/like her more, but because she isn't, I don't.

The issue with Liara is the fact that her mother is working for the enemy. Liara specifically tells you that the rest of the crew doesn't trust her, and you can have another conversation with her when you learn that Benezia is on Noveria. In taking her to Noveria, you are basically asking her to side with you against her own mother - and that's a lot to ask of someone you only recently met. It isn't an especially rational choice, but that doesn't stop me - lol. In any case, the mother-working-for-the-enemy problem is not alien-specific; it could just as easily have been humans.

IIRC, Ashley specifically mentions Garrus & Wrex wrt stealing tech, which is odd since Tali is the one working with the Engineers - lol.

In any case, Ashley is the character who expresses some things some players might be thinking or wanting to explore. It's a great tool in an RPG, because it gives the player an opportunity to consider how the PC feels about those issues, and respond accordingly.

All that said, I have been saving Ashley on Virmire, just because of the way the decisions come down. It makes more sense to me to put Kaidan with the bomb and Ashley with the diversion team, and I go to the tower to get away from the bomb and save as many people as possible. I'm currently playing ME1, and I think I'll keep Kaidan this time. I am getting a bit tired of Ashley.

The alternative of course is leaving her on the ship and then leaving and killing her moth and coming back, which is hardly better unfortunately

This is bang on. I like having people who disagree with my character, because it means they will question me, which means that my character can actually develop

She's human-centric.

I'm not sure if I agree or not. On the one hand, I think there IS a distinction between hating aliens and appreciating non-aliens, but I don't think it's a very good distinction. And it's an even worse excuse. It seems to me that if someone was utterly devoid of Xenophobia then they would not consider themselves Human-centric, as they would appreciate the "Oneness" of all life, if you get me. Buddha-style.

It goes without saying (I'm gonna say it anyway) that I'd love to hear your opinion. It's a topic I've spent my whole life contemplating.

PS Try to keep the Ashley hate down please guys. There's enough hate as it is, bring some love instead  :)

I'm not quite sure what you're saying here. Asking someone to team with you to confront their mother is not the same thing as asking them to accept the fact that it needs to happen. Shepard could delete the data from Kasumi's graybox because it was too difficult for her to do it herself.

I don't remember ever seeing a stronger demonstration of loyalty to you and your cause than taking Liara to Noveria.

^^ I feels ya.

I went through a lot of the same thought processes to come up with something - and it still changes in my head. Some parts are kind of coin tosses. The characters are multi-faceted and can do different things; I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to be doing a year from now, let alone some fictional character.

Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks.

But that's the beauty of ME you can do all sorts of Shepards. Paragon, Renegade, Biotic or Techno -Mage. So many different outcomes and facets to choose from. I was even trying to write a ME/Halo type cross.

But there never seems to be enough hours in the day to do everything. And real life keeps getting in the way. lol

Anyway we need more Liara pics.

Sorry for not explaining properly: I'm just saying that if you confront Benezia without Liara, the conversation with L after would be incredibly awkward. \If it were me, I would insist on coming to the confrontation, no matter who it was. Although I've never had to fight my own mother for the sake of the galaxy (thankfully) so who knows what I would actually do?

Anyway we need more Liara pics.

Thats it I hate banshees in multiplayer, happily doing my thing as a NovaGuard then out of nowhere comes BANSHEEs and everytime I try and charge one it just picks me up and stabs me, argh. I never thought I'd get annoyed at something in ME MP but this really does annoy me, especially when your 'Teammates' don't even try and knock you out of the Banshee's grip.
