I'm more of a fan of ME2/ME3 Liara than her ME1 version.

But then I've never been a fan of the whole shy, awkward, and virginal (ugh!) character type that Bioware frequently trots out as nerdbait. I was cool with Tali assuming that role from ME2 onwards.

I really like all versions of Liara tbh. Just stark how different she was.

The only thing that bothered me about ME1 Liara was the constant fainting. Once was fine/understandable (after Therum), but every time was unnecessary...and a little annoying. Other than that I like Liara's development.

Yeah that fainting was plenty corny.

In fact we have 4 different Liaras in the games:
- ME1-Liara (the one that is a bit too much of "naive young girl")
- ME2-Liara (too dark, too different from ME1)
- LotSB-Liara (that is where she got awesome)
- ME3-Liara (a continuation of LotSB-Liara)

I was never very good at math.
But if ME3-Liara is a continuation of LotSB-Liara
Doesn't that mean we only got 3 different Liaras?

Athame may be the supreme goddess of the religion, but she is NOT by any means the only goddess.

Athame is the supreme goddess with three aspects: maiden, matron, matriarch, the lady of Prophecy and Fate.

Janiri is the goddess of seasons, storms and agriculture

Lucen is the goddess of pottery, of forging and crafting, of biotics
Tevura is the goddess of love and sex, and of travel and law
Piares is the goddess of death (in the aspect of the guide into the afterlife) and resurrection.
Kurinth is the goddess of the hunt and of war.

The worship of this pantheon was widespread enough that, like the Greek gods which were later adopted by the Romans, their names were attached to celestial bodies and came to be globally accepted.

There doubtless were many religions that were not as well spread during the course of Asari history, and other philosophies that arose over time before Asari society finally settled for the most part on siari as the predominant religious / philosophical framework. But we wont' know about any of them because it's never been relevant to the story or the games.

And that's unfortunate because the asari are a fascinating race and it is those little details that flesh out the world which is what makes ME great to begin with. The good news is that there are a slew of fan fic writers out there who have given us more details to asari culture and really did a great job.

I'm playing through ME 2 again and noticed something kind of jarring. I can take the fact that Liara's personality changes a little between ME 1 and ME 2. It makes sense seeing as how much she has gone through (death of Mom, death of Shepard, rescuing Shepard's body, etc). But her physical transformation from ME 2 into SB DLC (released for ME 2) is just kind of crazy. I have no idea how to post pics here but if you do a search of Liara TSoni ME 2, you will see what I mean. In ME 2, she has a longer face with very pale, light blue eyes and skin (almost grey). You then accept the SB mission, follow her to her apartment and when you meet up again, her face is fatter and she has bright blue eyes and bluer, less grey skin. She changes appearances in the same game! Personally, I like her with the bluer skin and the bright blue eyes so it was a good change but just a little jarring when one is playing through it.

Yeah, that's the most jarring part of ME 2 and then ME 3. The texture artists didn't take enough time to properly translate her ME 1 appearance into the higher quality ME 2 textures, initially. Then they went overboard with Lair though it was closer in some ways to her ME 1 appearance.

Her actual face model did not change between the three games, the bones under the skin as it were. Just goes to show how texturing can make a big difference with how the character is seen.

They finally got it right with ME 3.

I think Liara looks beautiful in Mass Effect 3 so I liked the changes. It is just a little jarring when you are playing ME2 and then start Shadow Broker and your old teammate/friend/LI literally changes appearances drastically before your eyes.   :o

I do not recall noticing this when I played ME2, but that is probably because I had a 4 month gap not playing it before Lair of the Shadow Broker came out. Looking at the pictures comparing it is pretty jarring.

Just currently replaying the franchise, still deciding on whether to do Lotsb before or after the SM, the struggle. :P  Welp since I'm here I might as well drop some art too.

The pic was adorable and the video was hilarious. Thanks for posting these. Run, Liara, run! Maybe that Shepard REALLY needs to spend the 50,000 Platinum to get that Med Bay upgrade for the Normandy!

Okay, I have an indelicate question. I haven't looked through all the pages on this thread but the ones I have don't answer it. This question kept popping in my mind especially after Shep 'has relations' with Liara in ME 1 or in ME 3 when we see wounded asari lying down. How do asari lay down on their backs with their scalp crests? We know from Liara that their scalp crests are semi-flexible, they are cartilage-based, they grow into shape and they don't flop around but seeing as how they are rigid and point straight out from  the back of their heads, how can the asari sleep except on their sides or stomachs? The only thing I can think of is that the crests kind of bend down (or up) under the weight of their heads against the pillow but seeing as how they are cartilage-based, it seems like it would be very uncomfortable. Bend your ear (cartilage-based) forward and imagine trying to sleep like that! Maybe the have specially-designed pillows with holes in the middle? I know this seems like a ridiculous question but it is one that has popped into my mind often playing through the series.
