If painting depicts the Liara we all know, then I agree. But painitng won't change the restructuring of what Liara is in that statue. Painted or not, the physical features, sans coloring, is already there. I actually think it may make my impressions worse since painting it will highlight those changes even more.
I'm waiting till I see the final product after painted and such before I pass a judgement personally. The breast size, the slimiline figure and such is fine by me, that is the style the artist uses to create his products. As for the face until I see the final product I can't justify criticizing it as it may or may not turn out to resemble Liara.
At this stage I don't know if will or won't. Hence the waiting till it's finished.

To say that her appearance hasn't been touched is a rather derpy thing to say. I don't care if its anime/manga or not, it still does not even remotely look like Liara's face. It looks nothing like her game or official BioWare art appearances.IndigoWolfe wrote...
Liara's appearance hasn't been touched. The only difference is she's being rendered in a dramatically different style. A style for which the company who makes these statues is known. I'm no anime aficionado, but according to my experience with the subject; when you take away other defining features such as hair and clothing, I think you'd find that many characters drawn in anime style look fundimentally similar. Now, Liara doesn't have hair, but she does have other recognizable features such as her crest coloration and armor; things that a Mass Effect fan would recognize, and they are aiming for the Mass Effect fan demographic with this.
More to the point; how does this officially change her cannonial appearance? Mass Effect isn't anime, but this statue is, thusly Liara looks different in this instance because of the style. That's the extent of it, as far as I see it.
If this statue in any way alters or has altered Liara's appearance in the game or anything else, I will personally sautee my particularly fashionable fedora with onions, pour some gravy on that sucker and chow down.

Don't worry, folks. Turns out we were wrong. The statue isn't ugly, insulting, embarrassing, etc.
Turns out it's just "stylized."
I don't know about anyone else, but I sure am relieved.

I was kinda hoping that the statue would be a little less ridiculous than the concept art. Turns out it was even worse.KingNothing125 wrote...

I don't know what to tell you, man. You should have known what to expect when the concept art for this statue came out some months ago. The (almost) finished product is very similar to it. It's not really their fault if you were expecting something else.

Not at all, I'm friends with Tommy and we don't always agree. I certainly have respect and like for everyone in my friends list including Tommy. All I said was I like the way Indigo composed the reply and the comments within it. Is that now a crime?

No crime!
I prefer people saying nice things about each other vs crappy things.

I like this thread, people are more mature here in their response's. Unlike the other one where it's all cultural bashing, anime hate and calling each other pedos for liking the style of figurine or claiming it's all hentai. In here people are generally expressing themselves in much more mature manner with they like, they dislike or they would prefer.
@Pups of War
I agree'd with everything you said but did you really need to include those last few lines... Bit of over reaction. The rest was fine until then. Though it did remind me of bobble-head creations. I would love Bobble-head figures of all the crew.

I've been trying to get into Liara's head recently as to why she likes (or loves) each of my Shepards. Has anyone written fanfic based on Liara's perspective? If so, I'd love to read them. Thanks!

That's what I've always liked about the Liara and Ash fan threads. People are as a rule really nice and polite even when we disagree.
Life has enough ugly in the real world.

My story hasn't gotten that far yet ... she's only 96 so far in mine or I would peddle my wares.
