What error are you getting?

Nothing, it just stops dead at 33,4. No progress being made, and it also sounds like the disk just stops spinning inside the PC.

Not nearly as bad as what I managed to do so many years ago upon installing C&C: RA2. Installed the game, first cd went alright, put in 2nd cd. A few seconds later there was a loud crashing noise. When I opened the cd player (no dvd players in pc's at that time - go figure XD) the cd had fractured into like 100 small pieces. I was like

ETA: Good that you managed to fix it. Would be awful if you couldn't play ME2 again...

How is that even possible? Because I've done a couple of things with my computers as well, assembled and disassembled them, and just messed around with them, but I've never faced that kind of situation. Well at least you knew what was the reason for not being able to complete that installation, not that it would help or anything though :D

As a matter of clarification; I made the red-eyed Liara pictures.

And as you might guess; I am no Liara hater. I just made them in the dismal months waiting for LoTSB whilst entertaining the whimsy that the Reapers would target Liara for indoctrination due to her connection with Shepard.

And because I thought it looked cool.

That pic is really good. I have thought how sad it would be if Liara, like her mother, tried to do good only to lose herself in the process. Cut to a scene where you are repeating, sans rachni queen of course, the scene between her mother but it is her. That would be torture and every second would be hell for both my Shepards (1 friend & 1 lover).

Yay. Re-installed ME2 and all DLC succsesfully. :wizard:

Tested the scene where Vasir shows her true colours. Sound seemed syncronised enough that it seemed to fit the visuals.

Hopefully it will stick that way and I can finally get some proper recordings of LOTSB.

Let's not go off topic with TIM and Cerberus. And the statue bit is taking over.

How about this: How much do you want Liara to stay independent?

Because this has always been a debate with me. Some people don't what Liara to depend on Shepard, and make her own choices without his influence. Some people want to continue being the savior and white knight for Liara, and control her path. But I want to figure out what people want out of her as a character, and how she interacts with Shepard.

In some ways, she's always been strong and independent since ME1. She mostly works alone, and tries to take care of herself. The thing is, she was very shy, and you had to rescue her. A lot of people saw her as helpless, and shouldn't be on the battlefield. There's even lines where Shepard can give her romantic bull****, like "I'll keep you safe".

But after giving her this line, Liara will say "I'm not looking for a protector". Some see this as her still showing her independence. But I never liked this line, since I never felt it was completely true. Especially since she wants to be on board for protection against Saren. So I never felt sold on it. And I know a lot of people still felt like she was flower needing protection.

Now fast forward to ME2, she's independent super woman. Yet still needs you to give her data in order to find the Shadow Broker. She still needs you to hack terminals for her, because you're the only person she trusts. She's still a person that needs help.

However, that's as far as it goes. She avoids being killed by a sniper, survives an explosion, chases a Spectre, while Shepard has to play catchup. She's the one leading forward. She's the one who choose to be Shadow Broker. And she seems to not want rely on you, and clearly doesn't need your protection. This I like, because she has to learn that it's alright to need help from others. That yes, you can do things on your own, but so much more can be done with the help of others.

Now let's talk about emotional support.

Some believe being strong and independent means Liara shouldn't need Shepard emotionally. Or have any real emotional moments, where she needs support. Yet, one of my main complaints in ME1 was when she helped kill her mother, and she was over it. Yes, she misses her, but she was pretty much keeping it all inside. She's not allowing you to really help her. Or you were simply never given the chance. Which I always found disappointing.

It's something I hope never becomes repeated in ME3. Like say, say Liara's father dies:

Shepard: Oh, Liara. I'm so sorry for you. You just started getting to know your father, and now she's dead. She got indoctrinated, and you have to shoot her.

Liara: Yes, it's very sad. I'll try to remember her.

.....

Shepard: Shouldn't you be more emotional about it?

Liara: I'm over it. Let's continue the mission.

Another thing people didn't like about her character in ME2, was that no matter how much you gave, or did for her, nothing ever got beyond business. Everything was about the Shadow Broker, Feron, and hardly anything with about talking about the two of you. It was all just mostly business.

While in LOTSB, at the end, she wants to spend time with you, despite having a busy schedule. She wants to have a moment where you and her matter, and nothing else.

So, with all that being said, what exactly do you want out of Liara as a independent woman? What do you expect?

I think the inconsistencies were intentional to establish liara as being capable of something mant of her fans wouldn't expect.  Liara being with someone else.

This is what makes me think Feron and Liara are more then just friends.  The story doesn't make as much sense otherwise.  I wonder why feron was in the back room instead of out helping Liara when you visit.  I totally see shep walking in on them in me3 during an announced visit.  I think Feron and Liara have a relationship and it'll come out in me3.

Yup, didn't need an expert to tell me what the problem was. It was never THAT obvious before or since.

ETA: I seem to be very good at mysteriously messing up my pc all the time. Like right now something is messing with my RAM memory. I keep losing half of it and on some startups it mysteriously returns. 5 seconds later the pc crashes with the only way out being the reset button, after that... back to half RAM memory. Haven't quite figured out what's wrong yet:unsure:

Did that tear up the CD drive?

Amazingly enough, it still worked like a charm afterwards=]

Nah, go back in the old thread, there was some pretty staunch resistence to it in general. The whole evil Liara thing was/is just, retarded, for lack of a better word to use.
Edit: and thats not really art either, it's a simple photomanip with a color filter.

Well then I suppose it was fortunate that I did not make those pictures for any reason other than I wished to make them, isnt' it?

I did not bring it back up for kicks and giggles. I wanted to clarify that the existence of pictures of Liara with glowing red eyes was not the product of a Liara hater.

Somehow I'm having doubts a Liara hater would spend his/her time drawing fan art of their most hater character. Seems like a person with a distinctly boring and empty life...

Mmmmmm... no, 'fraid not, guy

Liara, whether romanced or not, is wa-ay too 'Shepard-centric' to become more-than-friends's's with anybody during the initial trilogy - both during and between instalments
