Agree, they tried better in ME2, but nevertheless it feels dull to me, the chances to be an Ardat-Yakshi are low to null, and is not supposed that asaris choose wich DNA to pick and randomize? Or how can it be with all the technology they have, they didnt made a test to verificate if you're or not a carrier of the bad gene?Lizardviking wrote...

I found that very ridiculous, the asaris putting a tabu over themselves
The whole pureblood thing felt dumb from a meta gaming perspective to begin with. Like it was just a poor attemåt to make us feel more sympathetic for Liara. I was suprised and glad that ME2 bothered to expand upon it.

I dont remove anything, and is at maximum settings, the effect you have is probably made because of the high contrast you have your TV with
but I never knew high contrast did that, I just thought PC users used textures to make her look smooth like in ME1.

For me it feels like if we would put a tabu over the people who has a higher genetic % to have cancer, because their childrens also will have similar %, so they shouldnt have childrens. And even when cancer is so much higher than Ardat-Yakshi in existence, still seems dumb to me
They actually did, Lizardviking, just not with Liara. They had the two asari complaining about Erinya and her making being a 'pureblood' into her religion or something. They also comment that all 'purebloods' are like that. I was thinking. Liara isn't like that.Lizardviking wrote...

But it would be strange to have a higher chance to adquire a sickness because you have more money... maybe the opposite would work better: if you dont have money you cant pay the uber expensive injection for your born daughter who could prevent her of developing that sicknessLizardviking wrote...
It would have made alot more sense of the the whole Pureblood thing was something that existed in the higher and wealthier classes of Asari society (and on the outer colonies like Illium who have large minorities of non-Asari). The families and people who can spend alot of time on alien planets, perhaps living there and even go to those fancy multi-species parties like on Berkenstien.
Given Benezia's status. It is likely that Liara grew up in the more elite class of Asari society.

That seems to be one of the complains from the two that was complaining every time you walked by them.Ophiskc wrote...
I'm speaking from the point of view that it seems all the stigma for purebloods is because of the Ardat-Yakshi

The whole pure blood thing feels kinda weird, since the asari have mated with each other for thousands of years before meeting other species. So that should be a normal thing. Maybe it's just these ardat-yakshis, but still it feel weird, that condition is so rare anyway.

Well, Shepard has that with Morith already, and indeed she/he pay the prize.laecraft wrote...
Perhaps that condition was not so rare back in the past, when asari mated only one another. Or it started to develop more and more as the time went on, scaring them all. And that memory is still fresh in them.
I actually think it would be interesting if Liara could develop this condition in time. Just think of all the UST. Typical "succubus" golden plot. No more having to invent odd, contrived excuses for Liara to be distant with Shepard. Or maybe they can still kiss, but it would weaken Shepard greatly. Like a reverseTali - Shepard romance situation, only this time, it's the guy who has to pay the price.
Now i understand what you meant, and is a very valid point of view... Uff, i wish they would explain that issue later, maybe Liara's father can tell us more about it in ME3 (wishful thinking)Lizardviking wrote...
The disease is so rare that I really cannot see it being the reason why the whole pureblood tabu is so strong (it might have been the reason why it started, but the tabu has moved way beyond that). The reason I take higher class is because they (as I said) have the chance to meet all these exciting aliens. And considering it seems that non-Asari mates are the current trend and is considered more hip. The higher classes would try to follow these trends more, and start create such tabus to elevate themselves above those that do not have an alien mate.
Bigotry is always irrational. The asari may be a generally awesome species (they gave us Liara, after all /uploads_user/1070000/1069890/137351.gifKorkki wrote...

Maybe. But there is always a "logic" behind how these started. I really do not see how pureblood thing could get as far as it did to the point it seems like it exist on all planets, in all social classes etc.

I don't think it's just about Ardat-Yakshi, it's also about the Siari religion - "promoting unity between the disparate shards of the universe's awareness".

Did Tazzik take Feron to Hagalaz? If so, I could see the yahg killing him for his failure ala Darth Vader.TMA LIVE wrote...
Let's talk about Tazzik from Mass Effect Redemption. In the comic, he was the Shadow Broker's one and only assassin. The guy who gets the jobs done when the Broker wants someone or something taken care of. So unless he was fired after Redemption, he's under Liara's employment.
One idea I always had was the possibility of Tazzik learning that Liara has taken over, and trying to overthrow her. Another is Tazzik, after being fired by the Shadow Broker, or on the run for failing in Redemption, might be hunting down Liara for person revenge.
I asked Mac if he has plans to ever use him again. All I got was that he'd love you use him for something.
