Yea, I saw the Merril romance on YouTube and went .  OMG, what is that she is wearing?  That is one reasons I didn't do her romance.  The other is because I found her very annoying by the time I got to the 3rd Act.

About this picture.  Anyone else notice that femShep has her head sorta downward like Shepard does because he is taller than Liara?

I thought in the ME games there was a mechanic in the engine where characters would focus on the person closest to them within their vicinity? Like how if you go up to Kelly, then turn around and walk a little distance Shep would turn his head in the direction closest to her.

Once spouse per city.   Too bad in Fable III, they ruined it for me by only allowing two kids per house.  I was working on big family in Fable II.  I had a two wifes in one area.  It was fun watching them **** at each other, but since I was able to keep both happy, neither one divorced me.  :bandit:

Never player the Fable series (do not own a xbox). But from what I know. All the characters that you can marry are just nameless NPC without any real personality. And frankly, who gives a flying f""" about them?

BioWare does a good job with the romances in general.  I think the Faux News, oh I mean Fox News going off about Mass Effect and the blue side boob, made BW tone it down.   I suppose those that complained about Mass Effect didn't bother to check out Witcher 2.

As much as Bioware wants to deny it. The debacle that Fox news created, really made them scared in terms of sex scenes and they restricted themselves in how much they showed. Which is a shame since ME1 did the whole nudity thing relatively tasteful.

But I did not talk about the sex scenes when I talked about the people who disliked romances. I meant it in the sense that they dislike the presence of a (possible) romance in the story. In which I brought up as a counter that alot of well loved stories in movies got romance in them, and nobody is complaining about them.

The Fable games are on PC as well.  But you are right.  You just get with NPC, but each NPC in 2 and 3 have names.  They also have traits like careing, mean, fun loving.  You can do dates and give gifts.  You have to woo them before they fall in love with you.  Or it's that way at the beginning of the game.

You're right about people not complaining about romances in action type movies.  I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about Han and Leia falling in love in the Star Wars movies.  Or Anakin and Padame.  Even though Anakin wasn't suppose to marry.

I do also most likely wind up doing a romance in a Bioware game. I feel it is one of the few areas of a Bioware game where you can explore a different side of the main character, or atleast show them in another element so to speak.

There seems to be a sentiment that romances in bioware games are silly in the sense that they are just fanservice. Wasting resources and distracting from the game itself. But when you kinda think about it, alot of the stories that we like (star wars OT, Lord of the rings films) did have elements of romance in them.

Yeah FemSheps eyes look like they are fixed on Liara's cheeks.  Liara's eyes look like they are looking slightly upward also.

You can hear alot of complaints about that romacne. Because it sucked. Just like everything else in the prequels.

Click here and here to watch the analysis of the Padme/Anakin romance. :D

But really. I think why some people see romances in games as a bad thing is because it is interactive. The fact that one of the character is the one the player controls gives people the feeling that the romance is just simple fan-service for lonely nerds, rather than being a small sub-plot (like it is in movies or books). I can imagine this perception will change once video games as an art starts to mature and gain more acknowlegdement.

I only had one bad romance in a game so far. That was in Halo 3 ODST, it's not optional and it sucked!
If the romance doesn't fit into a game, don't do it. Every stupid action movie has a romance now, it's just lame.

But most of the time I really had a lot of fun with video game romances and most of the time they are optional.
Liara in LotSB is one of the most interactiv and responsive characters my protagonist ever romanced, that's why the DLC is so much fun. Besides the awesome Bossfights, I love a good Bossfight. ^_^

Most people just ragged on the prequels in general and I stopped listening to it, because I actually like them.  I'm old enough to see all six movies when they were originally released in the theater.  Where they as good at the first three?  No, but I did like them.

I'm as excited about ME3 as I was to see Revenge of the Sith.  I was waiting for Episode III since 1996, when the prequals where announced.  I was on a countdown in 2005 too.  I'm just a Star Wars nerd.  ;)

People dislike the prequels for a reason. The poor acting, dialog, overreliance on CGI, dumb plot, nothing new and memorable, poor camera work.

I really recomend giving Redlettermedia a try. He provides good analysis mixed with some pretty funny humor.

I was pretty young when the first prequel came out. But while I still remember all the iconic moments and characters from the OT, I had littereally forgotten everything about the prequels.

Tha acting complaint bugs me because there is bad acting in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and Lucas didn't direct those movies.

And I am one of those that enjoyed the ride, Lucas gave us.  I was like HELL YEA, when Yoda was fighting Count Dooku.

I didn't get the complaints people had over DA2 either.  I just went for the ride and enjoyed it.  I am not one to to rage about a game.  The only game I went into a rage about was Fable III because that game didn't do what Peter M. said it was going to do.  Or didn't work right and they never fixed the problem.  Fable III was my disappointed of the year for 2010.  I'll never buy another Fable game at full price because of it.

I never figured what's up with all the hate against the Star Wars prequels. I actually started wit Episode I. Pretty much because I wasn't around yet when either prequel appeared in theaters. Perhaps this is why I actually like the prequels better than the original trilogy. That and it was harder for me to get used to the rather poor quality (comparatively) of the original trilogy when I finally watched it=]

I turn 44 next month and I was nine when Star Wars was first released in 1977(turned 10 that Oct.).  People are already ragging about the blu-ray version because Lucas is changing things again.

People need to understand artist can always go back and look at older work and see how they can improve it.  So, I keep that in mind.  I don't care really.  It's Lucas' baby, he can do what he wants with it.  It's fans my age that are the most upset.

To keep this sorta on topic.  Lets have some blue shall we.

I also in for whatever ride the director wants to take me on. But when their ride sucks, I will criticize them for it.

People complain about DA2 because it failed to tell a proper story. The third act was a complete disaster, a poor intro, not as memorable characters. And the re-use of areas making the game one of the most visually dull experiences.

That and it was harder for me to get used to the rather poor quality
(comparatively) of the original trilogy when I finally watched itImage IPB

I could buy the "looks dated" complaint about a video game. But a film will always be a film, with real people as actors. I actually think the prequels are worse in this regard due to the blatant usage of CGI.

@Lizardviking

The reused areas are done in many games and that doesn't ruin a game for me. I like DA2 over DA:O. I hated my warden walking around in a circle not hitting anyone when they were locked in to attack and just went in circles. Things like that ruin a game for me, Bad game play. I got into the story right away, but the game play of DA:O took me over 15 hours before I get use to. And like Mass Effect achievements, I felt like I had to grind in DA:O to get all of them and I still don't have the 1000 darkspawn killed achievement because that one is buggy and I'm not going to do the final battle over and over and over again to get it. I hate grinding like that. That ruins a game for me too.

I know I'm in the minority and a very weird person in general, but I cared more about Hawke than I did for any of my Wardens.

You're right. Time for a different subject. Think I've got a decent question right here...

So there's a good chance the whole Aethyta/Liara thing is going to be resolved in ME3. From ME1 it didn't seem like Liara was that upset for not knowing her father. She was a little sad when talking about it, but she didn't appear to be really missing it. So I think we can assume Liara also saw the video of Aethyta looking at her picture, and I'm sure she also put 2 and 2 together and realized something.

Now, do you guys think Liara would want to actively search for Aethyta in ME3? Would she really want to meet her father now that the Reapers are invading and her mother is gone?

There is the possiblity that if Liara meets her father it could be that she meets her father in an epilogue/coda after the Reapers are beaten. That is assuming that they both are still alive at the end of Mass Effect 3...

I hope they do resolve it.  We will be going to Illium in ME3, what other reason is there to go to Illium at this point.  Liara isn't there, or is that where we pick her up?  After fleeing the SB base?

I think they plan on resolving it,  What other reason to bring it up again in the DLC?  And a bridging DLC at that.

She knows where she is right now. Though with the Reapers invading it seems logical that the SB's network is taken down due to agents being either killed or fleeing and thus unable to report. She might not know of her location after a while in ME3...though she'll probably still be found on Illium.

Well since it's been confirmed that we're going back to Illium in ME3 I believe, it would be cool if Liara and Aethyta would meet during some kind of mission that Shepard is doing there, whether it's about fighting the reapers or just uniting the galaxy I don't really care. But it would be stupid to do some kind of side mission/loyalty mission like "go to Illium, find Aethyta (i.e. fight you way through destroyed Illium just to bring Liara and Aethyta together)" I mean a mission about just finding Aethyta. But if they manage to put it in there somewhere smoothly it would be nice.

Aethyta's character certainly would work for that. She's agressive, she's violent and she seems to be a very strong biotic like most matriarchs. I can totally see her defending her bar from husks or reaperized people. Probably talking some trash in the meantime.

I don't think it would be stupid to go to Illium to get Aethyta. To me it makes sense. Liara already lost her mother. I would think she would want to save her father even if she not 100% certain Aethyta is her father.

I can't think of another reason to go to Illium. Illium is a lot like Noveria. Controlled by corporations.  It's an asari colony, but not in asari space.
