The Shadow broker possibly has dangerous information on the Citadel that could threaten it.

Which is exactly why the Council or C-Sec would be extremely dumb to declare SB criminal.

Especially since the SB is more than willing to work with the Council and provided valuable service (via Shepard and Vasir).

Ionlysignin: The Shadow Broker has no loyalties to anyone, if someone offered the Shadow Broker alot of credits and I mean alot! The Shadow broker will trade information on how to infiltrate the council and possible weak points. The Shadow broker will always trade but is careful with the information as long as it doesnt threaten the Shadow Broker itself. The highest bidder wins.

Which is not a problem at all, since the Council can always outbid everyone (except the Reapers, who don't bid).

Minos you always seem to be trying to stir up discontent in this thread. It's unnecessary.

Also Cerberus is not openly recognized/condemned by the Council as a terrorist organization. Or Shepard couldn't have parked the SR2 all over Citadel space without incurring an arrest.

It is. "You are working for Cerebrus, an avowed enemy of the Council."

(1) I said "openly". You quoted an exclusive Council meeting.

(2) Avowed enemy of the Council =/= terrorist, or criminal, or even someone the Council would move against, or even condemn. Cerberus operates pretty much freely and openly throughout the galaxy. As do the slavers sponsored by the Batarian government.

Avowed means "acknowledged, declared, an avowed enemy". It isn't concrete proof but I don't see why they would use such a word if there was no public declaration.

http://masseffect.wi...d_on_Bekenstein

The Alliance at the very least is openly working against Cerberus, and the Alliance is on the Council, though I suppose it could be an independant investigation. I doubt that, personally.

Slavers and pirates don't operate freely in Council space, they are actively fought against. They don't solve the problem permanently by warring against the Hegemony because the batarians are nuts and the Council don't want their garden worlds to get glassed by orbital bombardment.

Of course they operate freely in the Terminus because there is no centralized government there.

The Shadow Broker has dirty information on everyone and is a threat to veryone, privacy invasion is so common for them. They have information that threaten everyone and Liara says herself that she could start a war. Your a fool if you don't think they are dangerous and are criminals, SB gets associates with everyone, to the most paragon being down to the the lowest scumbag as long as they have money, being involved with criminals is a crime. The Shadow Broker at bet can be trialed for conspiracy as a threat agaisnt Citadel space itself.

Meltor i said something in a thread that goes agaisnt the thread itself, I'm a fan I assure you but I'm discussing, not arguing, I'm not a child that resorts to petty insults. I'm talking like a adult. Atleast it's a new topic, a topic that is about Liara. I'm breaking no rules.

Ionlysignin: Cerberus can possibly outbid the council but that were cause tensions with Humanity and possible exile like the Batarians and Quarians.

The council don't know that LadyVader. In their eyes Liara and Shepard killed a Spectre. Look what happened with Saren, they defended him until evidence was right in front of their eyes. Self defence or not, in some countries murder is murder I don't have a library of all council laws just sitting in my bedroom, I'm viewing this from the eyes of a citizen.

You don't know that the Council even knows who killled Vasir. Your assuming that.  Besides, they have evidence that Vasir was hired by the SB to eleminate T'Soni.

Vasir ordered the bombing of a large office building, in Nos Astra, a city on Illium, which is a major trade center linking Council space with the Terminus. If Illium's government discovered the bombing and numerous shootings were done by a Council Spectre, economic sanctions could follow. To me, it looks like Shepard and Liara did the Council a favor by killing Vasir.

I'm not so sure about that. Hackett at least said he "can be friendly" with Cerberus and he boarded the SR2 with minimal escort. Quite a friendly gesture if you ask me.

For more in dept analysis, ZuluDFA has written whole libraries on Alliance/Cerberus.

But that has very little to do with Liara. So I'll shut up. And I agree with the rest of your post.

So I was just curious. At the end of ME3 would you guys rather see Liara continue her Shadow Brokering/information gathering ways, or see her return to being a scientist.

I prefer the latter. It could be just me but I liked it when she was more geeky and awkward........

I also enjoy the more geeky and awkward Liara, I would like her to return to that - but she's changed and can't go back there. :(

Unlikely. The Normandy SR2 alone costed a significant portion of Cerberus's funding. The Council fields dozens of Dreadnaughts, including the Destiny Ascension.

This is like saying the Tamil Tigers can outbid NATO.

IF they found out that Tela was the cause, oh and ionoysin in,'the Reapers can trade with the Shadow Broker, they did in the comics, via the Collectors but they are dead so that is moot but still, they could trade. It's really obvious I'm giving out a bad Impression here, I'm not argueing honestly, yeah Meltoe is right, I do cause some discontent in this thread but if I really was a troll I would of been banned by now or launching potshots at members here, which I'm not. Just don't let this give you bad impressions about me and judging me as a trouble maker.

It's not quite that clear-cut. Shepard was in charge of the SR2. If it was a vessel directly under the command of TIM it would be a different story.

In my head, Liara and my canon femShep get married, Shepard retires from both the Alliance and as a Spectre.  They settle down on Illium and Liara resumes being an information broker.  The SB base is gone destroyed by Cerberus.  I will LOL big time if that actually happens in game.

She says being the Shadow Broker is a dream job. Everyone likes a happy Liara.

Edit: happy Liara pic.

We need posters like you to have meaningful discussions and not have this thread be reduced to a doll playing session for kindergarten girls (I'm not pointing fingers). LOL.

Yeah Reapers traded with the SB via the Collectors, but it's just like how they used Saren. I doubt it can even be called "trade". It's more like exploitation, since whatever the Reapers offered to the SB is worth nothing to the Reapers, but what they get in return is valuable.

And the SB knows this, and is actively trying to stop the Reapers to ensure his own survival, according to Liara in the post-SB takeover dialogue in LotSB. I'm 99.99% sure that the anti-Reaper work of the previous SB will be built upon and used by Liara in ME3.

Really?  I didn't remember her saying that but it's been awhile since I've played.  Guess it's time for another playthrough.  I guess I just miss the little moments like when I told her I didn't want her disecting me and she got all embarressed and cute Image IPB.

Not me. But I'm not the type that gets an illicit thrill from rummaging through people's dirty laundry.

...*ahem* Figuratively speaking of course. :?

But there are also people who not only rummage, but also smell, taste, and remove small bits and pieces as souvenirs to add to their collections.

Also figurative. >:-)

Yes, Liara says this when you visit the first time and she tells you what she found out.  That the SB knew the Collectors use to be Protheans and why the SB was willing to help against Saren.

Shepard says, "You know, we can just crash this thing and walk away."  That is when Liara says it's a dream job and feels like she belongs there, although the location could be better.  Everytime I hear her say that, I'm like no kidding, Liara.  Flying in that storm all day every day would get old rather quickly.
