Do we know for a fact TIM lied?

The appeal of marriage, old age, and blue kiddies is fairly prevalent here. My Shepard wants to spend the rest of her life putting hypervelocity rounds through the heads of bad guys, she knows she'll probably end up dying young, and wants nothing to do with children. Is she alone in this?

I personally never thought he lied. Liara was in the informtion game meaning that she would have had to work with the shadow broker at some points. Since she was trying to get close to him she would have "appeared" to be a semi-ally. I don't think she would have been going around in the information brokerage world saying "I'm going to find him and kill him." No other informant would have come close to her.

The Shadow Broker was not a "known" enemy when ME2 came out. So hearing that Liara was working for him meant nothing other than she could not be trusted regarding CERBERUS. Not a bad thing in my book.

No you are not alone about the not wanting blue babies. My Shepard is not looking to get "hitched".

At first you don't know it's a lie until you see Liara and learn about her and the Shadow Broker deal to sell Shepard's body to the collectors.  And her giving Shepard's body to Cerberus.  TIM lied and he knew it was a lie when he said it.  He only lied about Liara and TIM is keeping an eye on their relastionship.  Why is still unclear to me.  TIM didn't seem to have a problem with Shepard being friends with Wrex, Garrus, or Tali.  Just Liara.

And that pisses my canon Shepard off.

Did the comic come out before or after the release of ME2?  I just got it a couple of months ago as a TPB.  If it came out before, those that read it knew TIM was lying.

I don't think TIM lied ... she would have to been working with the Shadow at some points if she were in the information broker career. You couldn't be in that field without interfacing with him. Now, I do believe that Liara and the SB knew what each other was doing but after 2 years TIM seeing her in that field wouldn't know what she was up to anymore. That only shows how well Liara was playing the game.

TIM didn't care who Shepard hung with as long as they were checked first ... Once I think he firgured out what she was up to Shepard was sent to Illium and there he met her. TIM didn't call Shepard and say "Now boy/girl, you are about to land on Illium ... stay away from Liara. My intel says that she is not only working for the Shadow Broker but he is looking to get your body and sell you to the collector's." or "Shepard, I think you should know that we bought your body from Liara... Bought at a pretty price." Now that would have been TIM trying to put a wedge between Liara and Shepard.

I still think tossing TIM in the Varren pit would be fitting. The vid of that Salarian going into the pit was perhaps the most gruesome ME death I've seen in the game.

That sounds a little...bloodthirsty.

Throwing TIM in a pit full of varren, I mean.

Why are people so eager to murder him for telling a lie? That's very harsh.

We will have to agree to disagree.

TIM lied in my view. And he knew it too.

He gave you dossiers, but the dossiers didn't say to check with Liara about intel on them. EDI said that after landing on Illium. Yes, he know about Liara was there, but I doubt he really wanted Shepard to meet up with her.

I do hope you noticed that no one with Cerberus told Shepard how they got his/her body. That was done for one of two reasons. One is they didn't want Shepard to know how they got it. Or they wanted Liara to tell Shepard. I think they kept it a secret because TIM didn't want Shepard to know that they used one of Shepard's friends to get Shepard's body. TIM just wanted to use Shepard to get a hold of the collector base. Nothing more, nothing less.

Miranda should have said something at the beginning of the game. Another reason why my canon Shepard doesn't trust her.

I thought you were referring to the korgan throwing the salarian in the pit.  Misunderstood.

For me it just one of many things that Cerberus has done that I feel TIM deserves to be put down like the POS he is.

Overlord was the last straw for me actually.  TIM set Shepard up more than once.  Tried hard to make Shepard look bad to the Alliance and the Council.  The list can go on and on.  Cerberus killing Admrial Kahoku is another reason.  For my Shepard there is a long list.  She never worked FOR Cerberus, she worked WITH Cerberus to help the colonist.  Nothing more, nothing less.

If I had my way, I would have kicked every Cerberus member off my ship at the first possible moment except for Dr. Chakwas, Joker, Ken, and Gabby.  Those can stay because they left the Alliance because of what the Alliance said about Shepard or in Joker's case, he got grounded and couldn't fly.  Chakwas just followed Joker and even she stated she wasn't working for Cerberus but for Shepard.

It doesn't seem to me like something worth getting angry about. TIM has done plenty of bad things, like sanctioning ruthless experiments on a helpless autistic and dozens of biotic kids. Compared to that, getting upset over a harmless lie is silly.

That's where our different gameplays come into action. There is no right or wrong unless Bioware writers put it down in black & white. If it helps in your story to say he lied then he lied ... In my story he didn't lie. Liara was playing the game and playing it well.

Don't think the lie was harmless. It was deliberate and manipulative not to mention hurtful if Shepard cares about Liara.

What's funny to me is that I didn't really give two thoughts about what he said. What pissed my Shepard off was how Liara treated her on Illium. Kiss, no I can't help you on a mission that impacts the galaxy ... got my own mission thank you very much, now go hack crap for me. WTF?????? My Shepard was pissed.

But they did make up finally ... Shepard just had to run fight a yagh to do it! Image IPB

Someone's fanfic made a comment about how femShep had to beat up a yagh to show Liara how much she cared or something like that.  I lol'ed when I read it.  I thought it was well played.

The Illium cameo broke my canon Shepard's heart until she found out why Liara was acting like she did.  That Shepard is head over heels in love with Liara.

During the LotSB every Shepard gets snippy with Liara about the hacking then we get this guilty look from her.

I don't feel the least bit angry at TIM for anything he did. Most of it was wrong, but had a logical purpose behind it. If my Shepard gets the chance to kill him, she will. It will not be about revenge, or justice, it will be about removing a threat. Acting on emotion in these instances is inappropriate, and only muddies things.

My Shepard blew up on Illium at her. Then she went back to the Normandy really pissed off, freed Grunt hoping for a fight ... but once Grunt fell to the ground she thought "Oh, crap!" Image IPB

You know, I am on the fence about TIM, Hackett, Anderson, etc. I don't trust anyone except the people that have actually been in the trenches with Shepard. Everyone else is suspect to me.

Now if Bioware has someone from the ME1 or 2 crew go against Shep, indoctinated or not, in ME3 that will be awful. If it is done with great story-telling it would be applauded by me but it would also still be awful.

I can see an unloyal Miranda helping Cerberus in ME3, but that's about it.  Or any unloyal squad from ME2 actually, but I can see it more with Miranda because she as Jack puts it, "Cerberus cheerleader".

Samara could be another if your Shep is a renegade.  She even said so when you recruit her.  "If you make me do anything...."  I forget exactly what Samara said.

A dev said on twitter that this will not likely happen due to there being 'more important' things going on.
