Exactly. It baffles me too see so many anti-Cerberus/Pro-Alliance or council. When the Alliances and Council are just as big scumbags as Cerberus in their own way.

I mean, I get why the Council treats Spectres the way they do.  Spectres are there specifically to do the things which need to be done that the Council doesn't want to publicly acknowledge.  The Alliance used Shepard both as a Spectre candidate (to advance humanity's status) and during Arrival (to do their dirty work).  I'll be flying solo in ME3 and beyond, thank you very much.

So what kind of logo would you imagine for the Normandy ?

That's exactly what I mean. I think it was a result of the writers not being on the same page. Otherwise, it would've been mentioned by someone.

If you pick the renegade option to Liara asking if you remember the SB (after you did the first hacking mission) Shepard will ask "Wait a minute. Are you working for the SB?". So atleast some part of it was mentioned.

That's my problem, I don't play renegade enough to know those responses.  I do know that Shepard asked if Liara was on the run from the SB and she said no more like the SB is running from me.  Type answer.

That is why I almost always pick the I'm tired repsonse when Liara asks how are you doing really, not what you say to keep moral up.

"I'm tired, tired of dealing with Cerberus, tired of the Council ignoring me, tired of my closest friends not believing me." arms flung in the air for dramatic effect.

I would imagine you have everyone surivive the suicide mission. So seeing you picking the lower option is good. The closer to my version the better.^_^

That's kind of why I was asking what kind of logo Liara would use as the Shadow Broker...  >.>

I pick that option more than the others.  I almost always do the cabin scene after the SM if I do the mission itself before.  It gives Shepard someone to come back to.  Then after the cabin scene, Shepard knows she has someone special waiting for her.

Very nice image pf17456, your work?
I wonder if anyone knows if Patryck Olejnicza, who did exceptional ME2 images, did one from Liara. Couldn't find in his blog. I need one in that style. Also, anyone has a better image of Liara's certificate?

Agreed; So doesn't TIM want to gain Shepard's trust ? If so then why lie about Liara ? Information is my weapon, so TIM knows about Liara so why the lie ?

That is why I think Cerberus gave Shepard the intel to give to Liara, so she could go after the SB.  To halfass make amends.  Didn't work though.  Not with the report we see aftwards of him watching their relationship.

Doubtful. The Shadow Broker was the one who paid Wilson to sabotage the Lazarus facility at the beginning of ME2. TIM knows the SB is working against Cerberus, so he wants the SB taken out. Pretty straightforward.

Liara is the new Shadow Broker at the end of the DLC. Shepard has influence over her, whether he/she is an associate, friend, or lover. Wouldn't you want to keep tabs on their relationship, if you were in his place?

And Hackett is pushing it at times after Arrival.  I will wait and see what happend during this farce of a trial come March before I have any  more judgement on Hackett.

Arrival and ME1 shows that Hackett, as honerable as he is, has zero problems using Shepard as a tool to futher his own agenda.

I think that between ME1 and ME2 it showed that just about everybody in the Alliance and Council was perfectly willing to use Shepard as a tool.  Anderson at least had the decency to put his own ass on the line once in a while.

I do see all of your points, but I personally see Hackett in more of a positive light. In ME1, I simply saw his requests for Shepard to help on missions as him turning to someone he knew he could trust to get the job done. If Shepard tells the 5th Fleet to save the Council, Hackett is risking his men under orders of Shepard. I think that shows a lot of respect for Shepard from Hackett.

In LotSB, we can see by using The Shadow Broker's intel that Hackett has been keeping the Alliance off Shepard's back.

And Arrival I see as similar to ME1. Hackett turned to Shepard for a favor because he knew Shepard could handle it. He even considers it as a favor to him, not an order for Shepard to do this. Plus, I think Hackett would have turned to Shepard anyway seeing as how the mission concerned evidence of a Reaper invasion. He also claims that he would give Shepard a medal if it were his choice, but he still has superiors And the deaths of 300,000 lives isn't in his ability to sweep under the rug for Shepard's sake. I found it a kind gesture for him to debrief Shepard in person, and let him know that he trusts in Shepard's judgement. It just wasn't in his power to let Shepard off the hook.

Again, this is my own personal opinion. I see Hackett as a friend of Shepard's, who has done his best to keep the Alliance of his/her back, and trusts Shepard in his/her actions.

Anyway! This is in no way me saying that your opinions are wrong! I just felt like I'd share my feelings on the topic. I apologize for derailing our conversation away from Liara. I just wanted to give my two cents about Hackett! ^_^

Are you 100% sure that TIM knows that Wilson was paid by the SB?  That isn't even hinted at in game at all.  He just called Wilson a traitor.  It wasn't until you read Legion's dossier that you learn that infomation.  Which was a weird place for that info.  Which again you don't find out about until after you get the mission complete screen.

I can't be 100% sure because it's never stated outright, but it seems like a logical conclusion. It's obvious getting rid of the Shadow Broker is on TIM's agenda, whether it's because of Wilson or SB's dealings with the collectors. I don't think TIM would hand over such valuable intel just to get on Shepard's good side.

TIM is all over the place sometime.  So who knows with him.  I know I am RP that both Liara and Shepard feels set up by him and neither one is liking it too much.

Hi everyone!!!

I just wanted to post something and say how much I love this thread and you people!!  I've been on a few message boards and a few fan communities and it can very quickly resort to petty bickering and inelligible diatribes.  However you lot seem to be very intelligent, passionate, respectful, patient fans who can have differing opinions but rational discussions!  I would know since I've spent the last week reading all 200+ pages of this thread.  I'm weird and anal that way, I want to read the thread all the way through before I post something.

I do love how you guys tend to have the same  3 or 4 discussions over and over again... :D  Its like once every ten pages or so one of those 3 or 4 discussions will start up again!  But its entertaining.  And I LOVE all the Liara pics!!

I'm fairly new to Mass Effect and PC gaming in general.  I knew I liked RPG's so I got Dragon Age which had an ad for Mass Effect 2 in it.  And I thought hmmmmm... that looks interesting.  It had a picture of Liara with it and I went, well hey, who's that?   Coming in late to Mass Effect allowed me to read a lot about the games so I knew what to expect.  Going into game 2 I knew Liara would be different but I knew I had LOTSB to make up for it!

Anyhoo, just popping in to say, Hi, and that ya'll are awesome!!!

Just like Liara, of course!

*edit to add*

Also, it took me FOREVER to figure out all your abbreviations and acronyms!!!  Like VS, SB, SM, OT, OP, ToP, devs, BSN, etc.

I eventually figured them all out though!

*edit to add 2*

WAIT WAIT!!!  I can't figure out IIRC!!!  What's that one?

Welcome karmensandiego;  I'm not sure about IIRC but someone will tell you / us.
You should try getting hold of ME1 if you happen to find Liara as fascinating as this group does because her backround is there.
Anyway have a Liara pic

TIM wants the SB's information. His motives have little to do with Wilson or the SB's dealings. SB is a rival to TIM and he'll use any means at his disposal to seize an opportunity to gain the information. He is using Liara and Shepard to learn the location of the SB's base.

Then why get Shepard and Liara involved? They're both wild cards. TIM had no way of knowing that they would take control of the base instead of destroying it. If his primary objective was to get access to the Shadow Broker's information network, he would have kept the intel to himself, conducted a private investigation, and used Cerberus strike teams to clear out the Broker's ship. There's no reason to leave it to chance.
