I imagine Cerberus (Miranda) gave her that after they opened the corpse pod, or she just found it in the planet Shep's body fell, along with the dog tags. Legion probably found the other piece there aswell, far away from the places Liara searched

Why didn't Shepard go off on him when they first met up before getting on the Normandy?  WHY?  Someone I can trust?  Really TIM?  Joker disobeying  the evactuate order got my ass spaced.  

Thing is, I do trust Joker, but BioWare missed a golden opportunity there.  Or at least have Shepard and Joker talk about it.

No, but his message didn't seem as heart felt as Ash's.  He moved on, I don't blame him.  That Shepard moved on to Jacob.  I don't like Kaidan enough to do a femShep to stay faithful to him.  I have five different femShep.  Three are with Liara, one with Kaidan and one single that hopes to get with Liara in ME3.  If not, she might be the s/s Shepard I use.  My single femShepard is in a bad place right now and may stay single because of it.  Kaidan got his head ripped off after Udina grounded the Normandy.  That only happened because she was uber ticked at Udina and Kaidan was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

According to Liara, Hackett gave her the dogtags to give to Shepard. 

I sorta figure that Cerberus gave it to her.  I wonder if we will get a true explaination on why Legion has on Shepard's armor besides, "There was a hole." comment.  There has to be more to.  That is the major reason why Shepard wanted to talk to it.

ETA:OMG, the one with Zaeed just cracked me up.  My husband is in the kitchen asking me what is so funny.

Well Shepard was as Jacob said, meat and tubes when they recovered his/hers body, and both Shep's chest plate and helmet were at the Normandy's crash site so I think that the rest of the armor was there too, somewhere all over that place in thousand piecies. I really doubt that the back plate would have stayed attached to his/hers body when Shepard hit that planet. So I believe Liara found that piece of armor there and kept is as a memento.

Edit: Oh, just found out something new to me while reading that post saying that Hackett gave those tags to Liara, so she was never on that crash site... hmm... Still sounds weird to me that the back plate would  have stayed attached to Shep's body...

I'm actually glad kaidan tried to get with a doctor, given Kaidans personality I'm actuall surprised he tried to move on and even more surprised by Ashley not being able to despite being a strong personality. I like them both but can't beat Liara, anyone willing to hunt my mangled corpse deserve not just a cookie, but a whole plate full of them.

That's what I thought too, that "It took some digging..." -line is the only one I've heard. For a moment I thought that I've really managed to miss something.

I like to think that with a spacer Shepard. She got the dog tags from Shep's mom. Seems selfish for her to keep the dog tags for herself.

That maybe the case.  I know one of the responses is Hackett gave it to her.  Why would Hackett do that?  That is one of the reasons those that can't stand Liara call her a stalker.  Because she has Shep's armor and dog tags and then are even more ticked that Liara didn't hand over the tags  while on Illium.  Then if you don't ask her up for drinks.  No tags for you.  Liara keeps them.  It's how the devs set it up, but it's Liara's fault.  I'll never get that.

"You can't get back everything you lose, but sometimes you get lucky."  "Yea, that was the plan."  Love those lines.

Think Hannah Shepard even knows her child was with Liara?  How would she react to that?  I have her being good with it because she could see how much Liara means to her daughter every time she spoke Liara's name.  I'm sure others can RP that Captain Shepard wouldn't be too please with her child being with an asari.

I dont really care what the haters say if not that, they would come up with other stupid stuffs anyway.
If you dont invite her to the Normandy probably she just send the tags another way then, because Anderson throw the tags to Shep in the Earth demo, suggesting that they were taken away from him/her during the trial
