Okay, I seem to have been well and truly converted. I always liked LOTSB but not ME1 Liara. But this time I switched up the mission order and dialogue options. She seemed more capable and assured less prone to fainting. It was Liara who told us what we needed to do next. For the first time I could really see ME1 Liara as a fit partner, rather than just an overly innocent and virginal bit of fanservice.

That's interesting, which mission order did you followed?

Feros, Therum, Virmire, Noveria. So she's able to immediately make sense of the EP portion of the vision, do a mind meld while suffering from exhaustion, and tell you you need to find another beacon. Then she identifies Ilos after Virmire and tells you to find the Mu relay. So I felt as if Liara was guiding me step by step rather than being clueless until the last planet.

Good point, jtav.  I never thought of it that way.  After my first playthrough, I always got Liara first.  Might change that next time.  Thanks for having a grand idea

My biggest problem with doing Feros first is that I find not putting Therum as a top prioty to be OOC. A colony is a larger community that can hold out for a time. But there will only be one certain Dr. T'soni.

All you're told is Benezia has a daughter who may or may not know something and may or may not be in danger (and might be working with Saren for all you know). The colony is being attacked right now.

Given that the game is trying to let you as the game player decide which mission you want to go on they spew all three main missions at the start. In my RP Udina & Anderson only tell me one mission at a time and only when I return to the Citadel. This way I can also justify all the side missions as well in my play.

Fair enough. I will admit that Saren trying to find Liara makes more sense after he had got the cipher. So I guess I am wrong in this.

"EDIT"

Actually I reconsider somewhat again!

Shepard needs to know what Saren and Benezia is after. Liara might know, and she is a Prothean expert and might have more information on the beacon, cipher etc. Getting her out of Saren's grasp ASAP is a high priority.

Yeah, but you don't know she's under attack. You're just told "Dude, that Evil chick has a kid. Maybe you should pick her up?"

While with the Colony, you're told it's under attack. Which is why I went there first on my first playthrough.

So if you take Liara with you to Feros what do you think is going through her mind as she watches Shiala get into your head with a mind meld ? I mean I know it's to save the galaxy and all but still, Liara just recently met and admits to having feelings for you and here you are melding with another Asari, right in front of her. Perhaps it's better to rescue Liara after Feros.

I do Therum first, always. Like someone else said, Liara is a prothean expert and is being hunted down by Saren's geth.....rescuing her is vital to understand the beacon's visions.... Feros has the manpower to hold out, albeit for a time

I usually get Liara first also for reasons similar and because I'm looking for leads on Saren but thinking about Liara watching the Shepard/ Shiala meld gives me pause. That's the only justification I could see for doing Therum after Feros

I take Liara with me on Noveria but I've left her onboard a lot to....and that is weird.... has anyone else done that?

Other question

Would anyone care if I wrote more Femshep/Liara? In my case, Charlie would be first getting the news.... well...she's a 'father' in any case....

I think the only time I leave Liara onboard is during the Wrex Family armor quest because I need a tech to open the safe

As for your other question        Write away

That's different. What Shiala does is simply connect their minds to transfer information, in this case, the Cypher from Shiala to Shepard. What Liara does with Shepard before arriving at Ilos is... well... different:whistle:

Well if so then why does Shiala come on to Shepard in ME2 ? I tend to think that mind melding is a little bit more than generic Image IPB

Because nearly all npc's in ME are Shepardsexual. Gianni Parasini also seemed to develop something towards Shepard after all. There's certainly a big difference between regular mind melding, which is done only to transfer information, and melding for pleasure/reproduction.

^wow.

Did anyone left Liara at the Normandy when going to Noveria? I was curious about the dialogue. I always choose her since I think as daughter she deserves to see her mother.
Offtopic – Noveria seems to be a gift to renegades. My paragon has 9 marks, renegade only 1, achievements in 95%, and level: 35. But when trying to convince Qui’in to testify, I only have the renegade option (help him would result +25). I’ve tested several options and now I’m thinking in giving Opol’s package to Analeis to go to peak 15 and avoid side missions. I don’t know how I got more intimidate points than charm, with so many paragon/cooperative actions. Would I have to engage in long talks to unlock charm?

I did on one play through. The dialog was definitely lacking with Liara's absence.

I usually leave her. The dialogue flows better and anything that shortens all that scenery chewing is for the best.

Short on paragon points? You can always use the inifite paragon points gltich on eletania during the 'lost data module' assignment. To do this, make sure you don't kill any pyjak on the way, then when you search the right one you get a bunch of paragon points and a journal update stating you need to exit the mines. At this point, save the game and reload it immediately. You can now search the pyjak infinite times for more paragon points. I usually do this to give me a ful paragon bar as soon as possible to save me the hassle of avoiding certain assignments because I can't resolve the situation yet.

About leaving Liara at the Normandy when going to Noveria... never done it. Even if you don't bring her initially, once the team learns Benezia is there, one of your squad members also suggests bringing Liara, hence I always bring her. Same goes for Virmire and Ilos actually. I've never left Liara on the Normandy when going to Ilos...
