Ugh.... I finished ME1 on both Hardcore and Insanity before but on all my later playthroughs, I scaled it down to Veteran. Why? Because Hardcore and insanity in ME1 aren't hard, they're frustrating. Having to shoot a krogan who uses immunity for 3 minutes straight until it's dead isn't exactly my thing. So Veteran for me.Playing Hardcore for the first time and just completed Feros ... soon I will be off to Therum.
I've died way too many times and it is going to be almost laughingly horrible and humiliating when that krogan kills Shepard (me) over and over again in front of Liara. By the time we (Shepard & I) are done, Liara will refuse to get on the Normandy. Oy vey!
So I'm back to playing ME2 now, and there's one thing that's been bugging me for a while. After Shepard wakes up, he's reminded of Liara's survival twice. Jacob tells him - no response from Shepard regarding Liara. Then TIM tells him - again no response from Shepard that shows he cares in any way. I've been looking for a way to RP this but it's not easy, seems I lack imagination.
I actually RP it like Shepard regained all of his memory when he woke up, but having been down so long his actual feelings are lagging behind. In other words: He can't remember ever having been close with Liara. This part of Shepard only activates again after he sets foot on Illium and meets Liara. It's kind of a silly way to RP this so I'd love to hear other opinions on this:wizard:

That is a thing that bugged me too. I get it that Shepard isn't thinking about Liara at that moment when he wakes up while the whole station is under attack by those mechs and stuff, but there really should've been an dialog option to grab Jacob and shout at his face like "WHERE'S MY BLUE SPACE BABE!? TELL ME THAT SHE'S OKAY, WHERE IS SHE?!?"
I haven't really put much thought on how to RP that part but the little I've thought about it I've been thinking about something that maybe Shepard was so confused about being gone for two years and then when we wakes up things start to explode around him and he's in a middle of a fight right away. And he's wearing some strange uniform wchich for sure isn't an alliance uniform. Maybe he's not even sure if everything he remembers is real, maybe it's all just a dream. Then some random dude tells you that okay we reconstructed your body, you hit that planet side and were smashed into million piecies. It could be really hard to believe at first and even if you do believe that it's something that has never been done before so the first thought could like "WTF IS THIS SH!T?? WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME? AM I SOME SORT OF CLONE?? HAVE YOU ALTERED MY MIND, IS THIS EVEN ME ANYMORE????" So maybe Shepard is just too confused about everything that have happened that he doesn't even have time to think about Liara or he's not sure if he really was with Liara in the first place.

The blue space babe part is a little much though it would've been nice to have just a little option like: "Liara is safe? What a relief!" to show Shepard still cares. I don't touch the entire 'confused' or 'mentally broken' things since I RP my Shepard's as being strong enough to overcome that. Shep's been in some weird situations. Shepard and his team stumbled right on top of a thresher nest and he survived while everyone around him died (probably won't be a nice sight if a maw comes up from under ground, grabs a few of your fellow soldiers, munches on them and retreats back underground) and he not only survives but came out sane.
Same goes for war hero Shepard and Ruthless Shepard if you ask me. Thing is, if you encountered and survived something like that, waking up in a strange place with mechs shooting at you, really isn't that big a deal.

As I said, I haven't thought about that so much. And I admit that I went a bit too far with that blue space babe-thing and I didn't quite mean that Shep would have some complete mental break down or that he would completely fall apart even if it might have looked like it according to what I wrote. But imo no matter how seasoned soldier you are, if you woke up and the last thing you remeber is that you died and some guy tells you that they rebuilt your body and brought you back to life like some frankenstein's monster I bet your very first thought would be something like "you did what?" "you. got to be. fu*king. kidding me." "come on seriously wtf is this sh*t?" But as you said, Shepard should be strong enough to put himself back together and to overcome that.
I also think that Wulfram had a pretty good point that maybe Shepard didn't want to reveal any of his feelings to cerberus or to some random guy (when jacob told about Liara to Shep, he didn't know yet that Jacob was working for cerberus)
But if some pro human group rebuilds you, you've been dead as dead can be, literally just a pile of minced meat, can you really be sure that they haven't altered you anyway? That all those memories you have are real, not made up or anything, can you be sure that you is really you? Shepard already knows what cerberus is capable of, what they've done. So even if it won't cause a mental break down for Shepard you still got that nasty thought in your head, what if none of these things I remember are real.
But yeah as said maybe Wulfram has the point here.

It's true that Cerberus cannot fully be trusted, but I was reassured when I listened to Miranda's video log in which she explained TIM specifically ordered her to return Shepard 'back to stock'. All of his memories, all of his emotions, all of his old personality had to be returned, with no alteration what so ever. I guess I've got to thank TIM in ME3 for not allowing Miranda to put a control chip in Shep's head.
Shepard also says to Jacob that the last thing he remembers is the normandy blowing up. I'm sure he can put 2 and 2 together and realise. Ship blowing up + Being in space = death. But you're right in that he probably wasn't entirely himself while on the Lazarus station. My first reaction to Jacob saying: "We spent the last 2 years rebuilding you and now you're back" would be something like... "Erm... uhh WHAT?! Thanks I guess"

Leng has no chance against Leia Shepard and Liara T'Soni. None. We've knocked off two Spectres together and Shepard has defeated two thresher maws on foot. Top that, Kai Leng.Robhuzz wrote...

Robhuzz, I know Liara is the only LI you have, but I don't remember Shepard commenting about Ash or Kaidan either. I take it as NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, TIM/Cerberus. Which for me would be true. Shepards personal life isn't anyone business, but Shepard's.

And TIM's comments about Ash and Kaidan are the same. Well classified file and still with the Alliance.

Those video logs are good point, to be honest I had completely forgotten those
And of course if some one would tell me that they've brought me back to life of course I would be like "it's good to be alive" but Jacob said that Shepard was just meat and tubes when they got him on the table, So if some one tells you that you were all f*ucked up like just I can't figure out a correct word but you know what I mean

I agree that anything going on between Shepard/Liara is private business and none of Cerberus' concern though if I were in Shep's shoes when talking to Jacob on the Lazarus station, and Jacob told me Liara had survived, I would not be able to hide my relief. I would have at least let out a sigh of relief, Shepard didn't even do that. - Shepard didn't know Liara had survived at that point, he told her to leave the ship with the rest of the crew but there was no guarantee she actually made it.
That said, if you have Kaidan/Ashley as a LI they show up at the start of ME2 instead of Liara, correct? So what does Jacob say in this case? Will he still say: The Asari, Liara and the Quarian, they all made it out alive, or will he specifically mention Ashley/Kaidan as well?

I could be mistaken though, been a while since I did a run where Liara wasn't the LI.

I RP that Shepard keeps how she feels about Liara in the closet, even Liara isn't 100% sure how Shepard feels. When Jacob mentions Liara it sends warning bells off since Jacob mentions her by name. Not Tali but her ... Why? How does he know her? Is he trying to get her to talk about Liara?
When I have Shepard ask TIM about her crew I always place Liara somewhere in the middle to blend her in.
Shepard starts out really paranoid and confused in my game so she keeps her cards so close to her chest that even she can't see them. But I do like the idea of short term memory loss. Interesting.

I am actually cracking up at some of the comments, it's a pic that has posted on the thread more than once and many seem to like it.
It's not Liara is many comments.
It looks more like Liara than that statue does or how she looks on the comic. Which are things BW commissioned to have done. This is just fan art.

I just thought it was funny that people were commenting on the "come hither" look and that Liara didn't have one. Obviously they never danced with her at Flux's ... Now there she threw some "come hither" looks at Shepard!

^Have to agree on that. For that little I've seen those comments on that ME2 facebook page, it seems to me that the only thing the people there care is that the pic contains enough sexual material. They don't care if it looks like Liara or not, or if some other fan art pic looks like what the character is really like. Most of the comments I've seen are like "I'd bang that!" those always give a *facepalm* feeling. Of course not all of the comments are that bad but most of them seem to be... or then I just have a picky eyesight  Maybe majority of the people play ME like any other shooter game without caring about the story and the characters and that's why they think the way they think, idk, I could never do that, not with ME, the story and the characters are way too good for that and they have so much depth in them. Or maybe only the stupidest persons comment there on that facebook page...
But now I'm off to bed since it's already 0.45 AM here and I have a philosophy test tomorrow morning
